You didn't bring attention to anything though. Quit trying to troll.

You replied, so obviously it brought your attention too it. I wanted to point it out to put the rest of his post into context. Then context of someone who wants to completely dictate what someone else's creation is.

And I agree that graphics are all fucked up, but you have to be reasonable.

You can't tell blizzard that their product isn't "diablo", they get to decide what diablo is. They own it. ITS THEIRS TO DESIGN.

I hope that there wasn't sarcasm in there somewhere.

If there was - read again that entire post as a whole.

Nope. No sarcasm. They are ALWAYS hiring artists. They are hiring artists right now as we speak, and I'm betting some of them will work on Diablo III. Because : the artwork right now kind of sucks.

Why just take only one piece of his post? He is somewhat right in this.
Everything else he said was spot on.

Because that was the part I wanted to bring attention to.

    Leveling is gonna be harder.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I didn't know that, seeing as how I haven't played the game, it was only announced 3 days ago, and they said little to nothing about leveling up.

Fall does not bode well with setting a 'dark' mood. Winter, though, does.

So, you are going to dictate what time of year the game should take place?

What I think is that the current staff Blizzard has is incapable of making a product of higher visual quality so they beat around the bush and make false claims about what their goal is.
It's called marketing. They're slapping grease around your eyes. They have got probably the largest fan base compared to other companies. Unless they hire some more talented people this is where their success ends. I don't know whether they have done this and left the D3 project to the fools that actually made this crap. What I do know is that since I saw the footage from Blizzcon my fears came alive.
I didn't want to make this claim and hoped that Blizzard would escape this, but I can't see bigger proof than this.

It might be why they seem to always be hiring new artists.

I'm all for it, and I havn't seen a good arguement against it yet.

How about : IT REMOVES A GIGANTIC PART OF THE GAMEPLAY.

Now, if that wasn't an important part of the gameplay for you, that fine. But it was a HUGE part of the gameplay for me. It was the main part, along with collecting gear.

Here is where I stand : One point every level is great. and then either gold or exp to respec more than that. I think you should be able to tweak your character's skills some, but make it impossibly expensive to complete change it.

But the textures and everything else in the game could be desaturated from the beggining.

I insist that its not the textures themselves, but ambient lights that lead the the cartoonish look. The floor texture (inside the crypt) is most likely grey, and made blue/green/purple with a mess of poor lighting.

Any game is art, otherwise you would see just text.

even then it would be art.

No, that actually proves that people have no idea how graphics are made at all. You keep using sharp edges on those screens and that would take a lot more polygons in 3D. It's easy to operate with 2D. It's easy to put a tint on a static picture. But when it comes to models and lighting and performance it gets much more complicated.
All sorts of games apply 2D Filters it the game. It's UT3, Gears, Call of Duty, Ect. get their games to look like that. It's a technique taken from film, where they post process movies to give them a cohesive color palette. The two example I can think of is "O' brother Were Art Thou" and "Amelie", though almost all movies go through it to some degree anymore.

That being said, Think about how long it takes to apply that photoshop filter. Now, think if it took that long between every frame of animation.

The most notable complaint can be addressed to the 2D background on which the game is played. It may be modified. Everything else is not really that simple. You say the armor is too bulky - try to make a model that has curves, is not bulky, and doesn't have too many polygons. You'll end up with a bulky model or a high-polygon model, or a compromise, which is what most 3D game kinda strive for.

Now, maybe you don't care about buying a super computer for Diablo III, some people do, and that's to whom Blizzard will sell.Yeah, with TPS perspective, great example...

That is part of the problem. People are looking at the close ups of the models and thinking "it's so box", Well, they have to draw a huge number of models on the screen at one time, and they can't have gigantic frame dips the entire time.

I still say that the easiest thing they could do is tone down the ambient lights, so they aren't so colorful or bright. I thoght the outside look fine, miles better than act I on D2.

Oh, By the way, I voted for crafting. It seemed like it could have been the most fun in D2, even though it wasn't.

Boss runs= fun MF. I hope they don't get rid of this. Maybe have all the bosses drop something of value at a decent rate.... so we run them all! :D

Blizzard knows this. They talked about how the fight at the end of the gameplay video isn't a boss fight. Thats just the sort of event they have in the game. But he dropped a couple of nice things, as did the thousand pounder in the middle of the video.

Look at it like this : They know that boss fights were one of the most fun ways to find items. Still, its like grinding. Doing the same shit over and over, to find gear. So, it looks like they set it up so if you just run through sections of the game, you will encounter enough mini-bosses that you can gather plenty of magic items.

Think of it as a baal run, but you don't teleport past all of the enemies from the waypoint, because there is probably going to be 2-3 worthwhile mini-bosses along the way.

sockets. All things the same as DII : People should be able to buy a socket for 25,000*Item Level. So you have a Maul that is lvl 60, and you want to add 2 sockets : $3,000,000. A piece of quilted armor that is lvl 1 : 4 sockets for $100,000. That seems fair, so long as you don't have those limits to how much gold you can have.

It's got to be a mix of both. Gold needs to be worth something, but items still need to be rare. Hmmm....

I'm an economics buff... I bet I can figure it out in about 10 mins.
