I don't know why you would think that, people like to spend their money. Example, Carter 3 sold 1 million copies in the first week, and seeing as this is probably 100x better, I wouldn't worry.
All hype. Almost no one cared about wayne until he started talking about how he was the greatest rapper ever, how he and jesus where from mars, and more or less not making any god damn sense.
And it's sad to say, I think he's he still better than 70% of the other rappers out there.
This game isn't only meant to be a piece of artwork simply to please the artist drawing it. First and foremost this is a product to please customers. People do not need to be professional artists to know what they like, which is what matters in this context.
Would you think it appropriate for a hired chef to cook "high quality" asparagus for his customers when they have ordered a steak, and they hate asparagus? Would you tell them to leave the cooking to the chef if they complained about what they got?
BTW.. this game DOES look very much like WoW in some ways. Particularly armor design. Don't lie.
You're food analogy is a little fucked up(It would be more like Chicken instead of Steak), but your point is something I want to expand on: Comparing A video game to a typical piece of art(painting/drawing/sculpture).
-This is a video game, not solely a piece of part for a gallery.
-You have dozens of people working on this game, not just a single artist.
-This game is A single Product, intended for millions of consumers, not a single piece of art for a single consumer, or a dozen pieces intended for a single consumer.
So there is a difference. A typical artist, will make their work, and charge anywhere form $250-$10,000, for that one original piece of art. This is a video game, where you have a million different consumers. Democracy should be applied to the creation of the game.
I mean, its why people play test their games. It's why Valve has never made a bad game except Half-Life 2 for Xbox.
There is a petition created for those who respect the hard work Blizzard put into this game and for those who wish to support them... instead of complaining about.
Believe it or not, I agree with planning being a huge part of making a successful character. The part I disagree with is that respecing takes away from it. I used to play Guild Wars religiously (my hours logged is in the thousands) and respecs definitely did NOT take away from planning. Having been a PvPer in that game, planning went a long way towards success, and you didn't just plan one character, you planned your entire 8 man team. Every skill. Every stat. 8 times.
Back on track now, the respecs in GW were allowed as many times as you wanted, and were free. This actualy encouraged you to find the better builds, and to optimize the good ones.
Lets take a look at the planning process from the 2 games.
Diablo 2:LoD
1 choose a function (this boils down usually to farming PvE or PvP)
2 choose gear (and farm it if nessecary)
3 choose attributes based on gear, and skills
4 level a character (trist/tomb run, rush, norm baal run, rush, NM baal run, rush, Hell baal runs)
for new ideas, go back to step 1
Guild Wars
1 Choose a function
2 choose gear (and farm it if nessecary)
3 plan skills and stats
4 level your character ( doing this goes hand in hand with aquireing money for gear, and getting skills)
for new ideas, use steps 1~3
Now, I've said before that the part I don't like is the grind, and this constitutes step 4 in both scenarios. I enjoy story elements of most games (and diablo is no exception), but not over and over again, especialy when you have to do everything 3 times (norm, nm, hell) each time you want to try something new.. Respecs eliminate that part of the game and allow you to focus more on the planning.
I see what you are getting at. I don't agree though. It seems like nothing is permanent about your character if you change your skills around at will. Grinding does suck, but the general randomness of diablo made it much more enjoyable than in any other RPG.
My guess is that the game will have unlimited respec. I would prefer limited. But to be honest, I'm going to assume that they will try both, and pick which ever one they think is more fun.
you have seen two places out of possibly 30 so u might have seen the brighter places your in no mood to criticize blizz because you havent seen anything yet
That shits hilarious. Funniest thing I've seem/read all day.
I had the same problem when D2 came out over D1. This works for anything in entertainment, when there is a good thing going it will be dumbed down, simplified and made more acceptable for a greater audience hence greater money. Its also a shame now that all the smaller more daring game companies have been shafted out by the bohemoth money making companies.
I know what you mean. Hell in diablo 1 was fucking crazy. But I always felt like diablo II had the superior gameplay.
I do agree with everyone who says, that diablo shouldn't be shiny and so.
BUT there is just another thing that drives me up the wall.
Have you seen the bosses? I mean lokk at their size! I think it just doesnt look beautiful at all. In my opinion it was fine having Mephisto, Diablo or Baal two or three times larger than our heroes but what the hell has a walking skyscraper to do in this game?
I do not know whether this has been mentioned the last 100 pages, but I simply couldn't believe that this isn't mentioned in the petiton.
The size of diablo/baal/mephisto had to do with the limitations of the game engine. They could only make the sprites so big.
Those big bosses I guess are a replacement for the bosses like "bishbosh" and what not. In which case : BIG upgrade.

Brilliant. You very well may be a genius!!:spam:

You guys have been very effective at getting signatures. Nearly 4000 now(my pseudonym included). I've got hand to you for that.

Awesome, I signed that. Though, it was for other reasons and causes. I wanted to stop HIV/AIDS on the moon. Hope you don't mind.

No offense, but this makes you seem, very, very girly. You're using a form of protest to maintain the status quo? I hope you understand the irony.

Don't remind me.

My bad. Maybe I just felt like it needs its own tree.

I think your missing the coolest of any skill in the game : corpse explosion. Honestly, my absolute favorite spell in any game, ever.

I did however, notice the narrator. Who has got to be the most annoying part of the trailer.
