I might try Axes or Mauls since the majority will try swords they will be easier to trade for :).

posted a message on Blizzard's Next MMO
You guys make great points it could be Diablo. However they said it was going to be a new franchise. To run alongside WoW it would need to be totally different.

Therefore I theorize it will be a Rock n Roll racing MMO. It will capitalize on the failures of Auto Assault. Either that or some sort of Sci-Fi tech type MMO that is as far away from Medeival type game that WoW is as possible.

The game will need to be very different to draw a different crowd of players. Unless of course they want to bundle subscriptions and have you playing both. Then the world will collapse and so will the internet!

posted a message on What if Bilzzard's next single player game failed?
Not to bash Blizzard but since Warcraft 3 there hasn't been a successful single player game released by them for 7 years. The original release dates for Wacraft 3: Reign of Chaos where:
July 2, 2002 in the U.S. and July 3rd, 2002 in Europe. 2003 for Japan.

Took them a long time to modify them for other countries as well. The point I'm getting to is this is a bunch of new people working on Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. Sure there are oldies but that does not mean they are the right guys for the job.

Moving on to strengthen my point Starcraft 2 was split into 3 phases for the single player campaign. The players did not expect this at all. More content but have to pay more. A fair tradeoff? Only time will tell.

Starcraft 2 will no doubt sell millions but that is not what determines whether it's a good single player game or not. That will be determined by the fans.

The same will go for Diablo 3. Many of you won't really care for the single player but thousands of people who play by themselves will. People love the campaigns in these games very much. Lets see if Blizzard can step up to the plate post World of Warcraft.

posted a message on What entirely new character class would you like to see in D3?
As mentioned earlier I want there to be like a steam punk type class. However I didn't read the last couple of pages but this is the perfect opportunity to bring some technology advances into the Diablo world.

Therefore I propose there should be some sort of Technological hybird class. He could be call the Engineer, or The Tinkerer but that's been done before. Perhaps he can be called The Inventor. Simple but to the point.

From there the class will branch out into 3 seperate paths.

The first would focus on him augmenting his strength/melee with a mechanical suit of some sort. Made of parts dropped of loot it would be very interesting how you could modify this thing. The more you level up new skills unlock and he would be either a high damage melee class or a tank of some sort. This would be determined by Blizzard since it's their job not mine.

The second path would focus on range abilities. This can be anything like grenades, turrets, guns, throwing rocks, whatever. Give me something new and interesting to play with. It doesn't have to resemble anything that has been done before. However if there is a demand for a shooter type class why not. Mythos did it perhaps Diablo can adopt some of the ideas with this path.

The third path would probably be pet like. However that could be boring. I am leaving that up to you guys to come up with something interesting that has not been done before or rarely done. If he is going to augment his allies and himself with this path what would it be exactly?

In conclusion I want there to be some sort of technology class. Sort of like wild-west type tech or old school tech. Perhaps he will do those old fashion twig traps where mobs would meet a gruesome death.

it's just a rough idea but overall I think it has potential based on previous suggestions.

posted a message on Who else thinks gold should be worth something in D3?
Well I do want them to make gold valuable and make it rare. Gold in games is so plentiful that it shouldn't be named Gold. Gold in the real world is somewhat rare and valuable.

So maybe these ideas should be applied to Diablo 3. My theory is that with the gold you get you'll buy another resource which is more rare, unless they make Gold very rare itself.

Besides that I hope they come up with a good system that prevents duplication.

That's a cool story thanks for sharing. I never knew about Diablo till it was way past it's launch date. I revisited and beat it a few years ago and understand why it's so good.

Diablo 2 on the other hand I definitely connected with. Can't wait for part 3.

posted a message on Diablo 2 Characters, Ladder, and LoD
    How will character conversion work?
A character will be created either as a normal Diablo II character or as a Diablo II: Lord of Destruction character. Existing Diablo II characters can also be converted into Diablo II: Lord of Destruction characters. It is important to remember that Diablo II: Lord of Destruction characters cannot play in games or trade with Diablo II characters. Finally, Diablo II players will not be able to play with the new character classes or use any of the new items or abilities associated with Diablo II: Lord of Destruction unless they own the expansion set and use expansion characters.

    http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/faq/expansion.shtml

Will characters that are converted over to the Expansion show up on the ladder?
No. You will need to create a new Expansion character (after a certain date) to show up on the Expansion ladder. More details will be available on www.battle.net when Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is released.
