I find this funny, one number on an item and everyone freaks out about it.
I wouldn't describe myself as "freaked out" about it. I just found it interesting and did not see anybody discussing it. If it is something we really intensely like or dislike, now seems to be the point to figure that out.

Maybe the next in-house Diablo 3 tee will feature a unicorn with a cartoon bubble that reads, "Increases the base experience by 2." :cute:

this is definitely not a thread worthy topic
30+ posts. Somebody thought it was worth discussing. :P

Everything is nice when it's on an item you want to use anyway, but it doesn't make it less pointless. Having a +5 light radius may be nice on a super armor, but otherwise, it's pretty pointless. I believe the case is the same here.

In most cases, XP bonus will force you to sacrifice something else. But if there is nothing to sacrifice for, remove the feature.
I agree with Equinox in a way here. I personally don't mind the extra XP bonus, especially so long as it is not multiples like another forum member said.

But I also feel an inkling of what Doppleganger has been saying. If it isn't useful, why have it? If it is useful, do we really want it?

Hmm, who would choose to XP +10% (I invented that, and, yes, that is a fractional multiple) over the STR +20? Why or why not? Would we enjoy making these decisions? Would it add an element of strategy to selecting gear?

Did a search and did not find this phrase. The Restless Quilted Armor in this screen adds 2 XP per kill.

The one at cafepress is tempting, but I want to be to be sure it's officially licensed before I buy. And if I'm buying my wife a Diablo 3 thong, I want it to be the partner to this shirt.

But remove the word rune, and you're looking at a system that simply upgrades items.

Similarly, runes in Diablo III, take away the word rune and we're looking at a system where skills and abilities can be altered to behave differently, simply increased in effectiveness, or some combination thereof.

I think Blizzard should think about changing the nomenclature. If people are having that much difficulty understanding how the system works just because the word "rune" is used, they should use a different word.

As for why system I would like to see to upgrade weapons, I like the gems from Diablo II.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Connection Speed Recommendations.
    Quote from "CapKosmaty" »
I don't get the logic? He just said that the bandwith isn't that much of a problem, but the latency? So why are you suggesting getting broadband again? I get it, a 300-baud modem would be a tragedy, but a 2mbit connection will surely be enough? The packet a game sends and receives are very small...
    You win the thread.

His statement did not mean we're gonna need broadband for Diablo 3; it means the opposite--that dial-up connections should work just fine so long as they are stable.

In a thread that has already devolved into a chance for each forum member to brag about his connection speed, I felt it important to highlight that fact again.

posted a message on Will Diablo 3 Be Playable At BlizzCon 2008?
    Quote from "iEv0" »
I think it will be likely that they have a demo. It will probably have the 2 known characters and the new one they are revealing. The playable area will probably be nearly identical to the game play trailer, but hopefully we can get to see some new environments!.
I think this makes a lot of sense from a marketing perspective.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Havok Physics - Part Two
It is encouraging to see Blizzard address fan feedback. I would love to see corpses stick around longer and to allow classes to use skills that affect corpses, but I'd rather play a game that is not laggy. I'm satisfied with their approach to this point.

But I could see a skill set like the Druid's vines still working here. Something that could consume the corpses and remove those physics items faster would still be possible.
