pls name the npc's you encountered in and near Alcarnus and describe them for us

I wish i could remember, I looked at their names, but we never reached any town of significance really i think. None of the characters seemed important, but who knows. NPC's all said something when you clicked on them though. They all have SOMETHING to say. Thats worth something i suppose.

I heard someone found a rainbow in the corner of the desert, but it wasn't a pick uppable object.

Yea, it was in the corner of the level. it took forever to find, but i was on a mission. I even named him "Rainbowhunter". Found it with the witch doctor. you had to wait a couple seconds and then it popped up, it wasnt just sitting there for you to see. Plus it was SUPER bright and vibrant. it was pretty funny.

Will the D3 world be larger then D2. Obviously D2 was MUCH larger then D1 but it seems like they're sticking with the same formula for D3 as they did in D2. I want the D3 world to be HUGE!

Sounds like they want it to be around the same size. I cant comment really all too well. Depends on the number of acts I suppose. I think it will feel just as large if not larger.

    damn no cows.

When I asked about cows I was told between pauses that there will be "some sort of secret in the game," and I would like to think its the cow level. Gut says it is but I dont know.

OH, and uh, yes about that easter egg. Yea, i was the one who found the rainbow. I sat in line for 2 hours searching for it. It was amazing when i found it. Very cool to see. A bunch of people started taking pictures, i was hoping one would end up on the internet. I believe i am the only person to have found it before. At least so i was told...

Can you give some feed back on the WD? Skills, playstyle.

WD plays similar to how you would play a Necro. Summon, summon, few fire bombs here and there, summon some more, run away a little, run back for fire bomb, summon etc. His skill tree is set up similar to Necro even, where you got summoner spells/range spells etc. I would say if you love the necro you will adore the WD. No teeth though, which is sad panda for sure.

Were the monsters in Diablo III more robust than the ones in Diablo II?

Yes, most definitely. Fallen are the best example. Seeing a bunch of these fellows on screen can actually be terrifying unlike in D2. Monsters are far more menacing, come in larger packs, and have slightly more AI intelligence to them even. Trust me, if there is nothing you can find you like about d3 right now, the monsters should at least impress you.

Because if he even has a "fraction" of the actual game then he'd know more than us..

Sorry, but I'm just having a hard time swallowing that information.

He said he has the GAME at his home. He is the head PR guy though (He said he's the one to blame for all those painfully slow site updates we seem to never get) and I would imagine he WOULD have the game (whats complete of it at least) so that he can answer all those questions he is blasted during interviews.

What about buffs? Are they passive? Or do you get certain spells to buff yourself?
Can you tell us about what buff you had on what character? Maybe?

From my experience buffs are not really passive, from what i was given at least on characters. You buff yourself everything then wait till they unbuff and then buff again. I imagine there are some talent passive buffs but I never checked talent tree's in depth enough. I'm best for answering gameplay/flow/character play/look/feel questions more than talents as i did not spend as much time checking over those, though I did a bit.

Can you give some more insight on equipment? In general?
By this I also mean, how was the item finding? How were the rare, unique and set drops if you had any?
    How did identifying take place?
Can you fail at something? Let's say failing to properly socket a weapon causes the item used for socketing to be destroyed?

Lets see...equipment...Item finding was buffed up for the DEMO; they gave much of the starting equipment +MF (so yes, MF is still in game, and apart of items even). Never found anything above unique i believe, and compared to what they gave us they were not as good usually. The items gave standard stat boost just like D2. You should see a nearly 1:1 transfer of how items work in D3, at least from what i gathered. Never got to Socket items though. Identifying has been answered, yes its there, scrolls take up one space in bags (yes bags, like WoW, for those of you who dont know) and you only have to right click an unidentified item if you have a scroll in your bag.

Are there bad items? Like, +20 to str and -50 int (Weapon name: Drunken Fist).
Might not be such a bad item, but like.. are there stat decreases in weapons.

No comment really, i saw some crappy grey's, but I can't answer this question well. Sorry

    Tell us about armor.
Is armor classed with "Has 1500 armor and 500 defense".. or something like that.
What I was always scared about is that the barbarian for instance is going to look the same no matter what equipment.
What happened when you equipped new armor? does your character be pimpin' after?

Answered by an above poster (thank you btw)

Economy, gold! Tell us.. what's finding gold like? what's spending it like.

Finding it is same as before (monsters, chests, caskets, baskets, everywhere) except now you onyl need walk within close proximity of gold to pick it up, so no more mad clicking for gold loot (though i think you still CAN click it, but walking over it is so much easier). There were no vendors available in the demo, and yes, I DID check. I was really hoping to see some gambling...

    Professions?
I dont know, like world of warcraft. Give a barbarian to collect scrape metal from armored enemies and forge shit to create weapons?

Once again answered above. Professions no-go, crafting a maybe.

Have the witch docter collect hearts and livers n eyeballs to create poisons and explosive potions or something?

No clue, maybe when i play the beta i can tell you.

Did you notice any other ranged damage that wasn't caused by spells. ie, are there arrows/spears/shurikens n shit in the game?

By monsters yes, but I never threw any spears myself. Well, then again, the Wizard has a wand he can shoot, sorta like a back-up melee if he runs outa mana.

How destructible is the desert? We see the church n crap collapse and shatter when you rush into it and you talked about imploding caves. Is there like quicksand? for instance? Or explosive corpses like the cows in d2?
Trapped chests we know of, how about hidden shit in trees?

I'm glad you asked, because i would have never mentioned DANGEROUR ENVIRONMENT EFFECTS. I don't know if blizz has discussed it yet but there are some environment effects in game that pop up every so often (think floods or something). In the demo i ran into large dirt-devils/dust tornadoes that would damage you or enemies who walked into them. It was quite cool looking and it was fun to see, definitely something I saw and though "now that is cool." I never got to directly destroy any ground or cliffs while walking around the desert; only in dungeons. And in dungeons quite a bit is destructible, but only a very, very small fraction of it can be used to hurt eniemies (i tried). Trapped corpses are still around as well i believe.

Did you see any water? How did it look? Good quality?

Water looks good, but i only saw it in itty-bitty puddles if memory serves me right.

How many creatures were you able to take on without the fear of dying?

A lot, especially considering we were beefed up harcore for the demo. People did die however, i saw it happen a lot. If you got too surrounded your health pot would be used and on CD, then they would just get overrun. I would say on more even grounds your could take anywhere from 3-9 at a time depending on what kinda monsters (fallen vs sand thresher for example).

Are there critters in the game? OOO FUZZY A RABBIT!

Yes, and many were squashed under the weight of my blood-soaked boots. Oh and yes, i saw a couple rabbits i think, but i cant be sure (i remember thinking a few looked like rabbits at least).

Do NPC's that aren't human but hostile talk? Like the cultists for example? Or do they just moan in pleasure as you ram your fists in them?

Cultist did SOME speaking yes, they would get in circles and chant/speak about evil things like Nazi's, Diablo, Crumpets; you know, the usual.

And you bitch, for not dying. I want to know about death penalties.

I still know plenty from watching others. There are checkpoints thrown about the area that give you a place to respawn so that you wont have to run all the way back from town/start of area. Death penalties in Demo were nothing but that small run back. You didn't have to pick up your corpse's belongings though. I was told this (including the checkpoint system) is still being worked on a bit. They're not sure if they want to include TP's as much as D2, so this is an answer to consider UNDER DEVELOPMENT.

Anyway did you see what happened when you died ? Which class was the hardest to play ?

same as above. Witch Doctor was hardest, only because I dont play Necro's ever and am noob with them. Plus he has very little health and at least in the demo, very little crowd control.

Are the Wizard's electric spells still so annoyingly (and quite ugly and unrealistic) blue as they were when they showed the class for the first time?

The Wizard we got to Demo did not have any electric spells, however we could create a mirror image of ourselves that would cast lightning spells. They looked more white than blue; never bothered me personally.

--OK ALL DONE FOR NOW, ill get back to some more today (and i mean today this time, i promise). I'll be back on within the next 4-6 hours probably. see you all then!--

I haven't played the game but i can answer some questions
    NO STAT DECREASES.
Armor is rated in defense still
You can't fail at socketing an item
    No proffessions
    No identifying.
These ar ethings that have been stated by blizzard at panels during blizzcon or otherwise.

Thank you for that, however if by identifying you mean like, red scrolls and weps that you cant see yet, then i have to disagree, since there was plenty of identifying in the demo. dont have to click the scroll then the item anymore either, as long as you have a scroll somewhere just right click an unidentfied item. And yea, he said no proffessions, just "possibly" crafting skills, which i stated before. Lets make is clear there will be no professions though, at least thus far in development (and likely not to change).

Anywho i will be back on later to answer questions, gotta drive 2 hours home first and sit in bed from Swine Flu (YAY PAX DISEASES!).

Let me be the first to actually contribute some real questions for you mate, I myself find it rather a shame not to be able to have gone to a single convention and I am patiently awaiting this game's arrival.
I remember back in the days only having the d2 demo and playing it for a good few years (we knew nothing about computers and thought d2 demo was an actual game).

    So here I go.

What class did you most enjoy playing thus far?
    - I've been wondering what I should go and play when the game releases. It all looks so awesome yet I think i'll stick to the classic barbarian to hack and slash through everything but the caster classes look so awesome.
The monk is the one I'm least looking forward to playing but when I get there I'll roll all five.
So tell me, what one was most awesome? Most brutal and had the most "What that's bloody awesome" effect on you.

What acts / maps have you been able to play?
    - The first released footage shows the church \ church dungeon. Is that where you started? Did you start with a lvl 0 char in there and worked your way up form there to other acts \ maps (desert, jungle etc).

    Stat points
    - How are stat points given. This may have appeared somewhere but I'm unaware of it.. Is it given like the old d2? here you go you poor thing, have 5 stat points. Or is it more like WoW and you auto gain str and stuff.

    Stat requirements on equipments?
    - How about this? I always hated the fact in D2 that I needed DEX to equip stuff. I wanted pure strenght, pure strength i tell you.

    Item encants and runic mastery
    - So, how does this work? You slop a rune on a weapon? Or on that rune pouch thing we know so little about?

    Talent trees.
    - Tell us about these! What char did you play the longest and how did you giving it talent points / mastery points improve the char?

    Bosses
    - What have you fought so far? Where they hard? please tell me they were hard? Back when I had the demo as a little kid of d2 i pooped my pants every time i fought blood raven. Now with more knowledge of the game i rush in with a new char to kick her ass.
Tell me it's not that easy this time.

    Dungeons with Chest
    - I remember going in to dungeons on the 2nd map of D2 and going in purely for that golden chest and stuff.
Are these back in the game?

    Quests
    - How do you get quest? are there lots n lots of quests with mini (optional) quests too?

    Companions
    - Do you get one?

    Social skills
    - Can you talk to NPC's by any chance? Can you use voice emotes? Can you use emotes like in WoW?

How many times did you die?

    Question 1:
What class did you most enjoy playing thus far?

I hate to say it, but I had the most fun with the Monk. He has the most versatile and dynamic abilities of the classes I got to play. HOWEVER, and this MUST be noted by all, the monk was specifically given a slight boost over the other classes for this demo in order to raise awareness and favorability! That said, I still will be rolling Monk first unless the next class blows my mind. I was an assasin in D2 though, and the Monk is like an assasin on Speed. His interchangable ability charges/tiers make playing him unique and
fresh. However, I imagine LIVING through just about anything to be tough on a none-suped up version; skill and study is a must.

Overall that first questions is hard to ask, seeing as how we were given only a couple of abilities to play with, and some classes given "more entertaining" specs than others (Wizards did not have their WTF pew pew lazer beam for example, which made me :( ). Even the PR guy said the Wizard, as well as the Barb, we're not specced well for this demo, which they (blizz) regret.

    QUESTION 2:
What acts / maps have you been able to play?

Only played Act 2, which is the "Lut Gholein Redux" of sorts. We start at, I believe, the start of Act 2 and have to make our way to a town, which we find torn apart and full of cultist (this is the town the monk falls into a trap in his trailer). There is a limited amount of space to explore, and I explored all of it. One small outpost, with no quest or sellers. Our characters we got to Demo start off at i believe 22 (Monk possibly 25?). The zone is supposed to be a 10-12 zone too, so it was rather easy. Act 1 is Tristam, and many of the environments we saw early in development are from act 1. OH good time to bring up that the Amazon Isles (wish i could remember the name) have been scrapped from the games Acts (aka you will not be visiting there). So that pretty island you see here on this page of our website http://www.diablowiki.com/index.php/Main_Page
is not in game, sorry folks (it was what i was most looking forward too).
As to number of Acts i wish i could say, sounds like a significant more than d2, aka around 8-10 maybe, but thats based on me reading his body language more than anything, since he was trying to keep tight lipped (I've got some knowledge on body reading and such, Psych major and courses and personal interest). DONT TAKE MY WORD ON THAT THOUGH PLEASE.

    Question 3:
    How are stat points given

Auto distribution, akin to WoW i believe.

    Question 4:
    Stat requirements on equipments?

This i am not as sure on, though i bet you can find out with a quick search. Based on where they are headed i would say stat requirements have been changed significantly if not taken out completely.

    Question 5:
    Item encants and runic mastery

Dont know about Item enchants, but I have some info that reminds me of (later). Runes however, work different than D2 significantly. It is, somewhat (slightly) similar to how Inscription works in WoW, however you inscript your talents rather than your spells (spells really being talents in Diablo, so i guess its sorta one and the same). So for example runes you find can change the way your spells act; The witch doctors fire bomb now creating an AOE/DOT fire splotch after it explodes for example OR they can change their damages or range etc; Increase the shout range for example. To use a rune, you simply open up your talent tree, drag the rune you want to use, and plop it underneath a talent. BAM, talent/spell now is more epic. I really think the PvP'ers out there will love this the most, since it adds so much depth to class creation.
Now about that reminder...I asked about professsions in D3 and, much to my liking, they will NOT be featured in game. However they are fiddling with minor crafting abilites (perhaps similar to first aid in WoW?). This is not finalized but they want to implement something like this.

    Question 6:
Talent trees. - What char did you play the longest and how did you giving it talent points / mastery points improve the char?

I played all characters for the designated 15 minutes of play time (which felt pretty long actually). during those 15 minutes, if your not dieing, you can level once (maybe twice if you just were grinding it out, but i never did) and place one talent point in your tree. Usually most people would opt for a new spell so they could see something new. So honestly, there is little i can say on the topic. I got a new spell with each character, ]all of which have previously been seen in trailers and whatnot.

    Question 7:
Bosses - What have you fought so far? Where they hard?

No chance at fighting Bosses in this Demo, the PR told me they purposely took it out of the demo since they felt bosses were not exactly Diablo as much as the grind and talents and normal hub-ub are. Info on bosses through conversation though...there will be mini-type bosses thrown in at certain places during the game, whether that means blood raven type bosses who are part of the quest's or random zone occurrence or what I'm not sure. Large bosses like the ones we saw videos are more rare occurrence, scripted usually. Thats all i can say.

    Question 8:
Dungeons with Chest - I remember going in to dungeons on the 2nd map of D2 and going in purely for that golden chest and stuff.
Are these back in the game?

YES, indeed. Went down a couple "creature dungeons" and found some nice special items at the end of em. In fact I am not sure if anyone has heard of these yet, but you know those random dungeons strewn about the place with nothing but monsters and some loot? well now every so often when you go down one it will be a "timed dungeon." These timed dungeons have a clock in the top right that, when it hits 00:00 the dungeon collapses, killing your character. Whats the point of this? BETTER LOOTZ, THATS WHAT! You get far better loot for these dungeons, and the farther you go into the dungeon, the better the loot. However you cant just run in and wait for the place to fall on you; you must get the loot at the end AND still run out. These were VERY cool to see.

    Question 9:
Companions - Do you get one?

I got some temporary companions during quest, that acted EXACTLY like the ones from D2, however i never got the chance to see if you can actually purchase real companions permanently.

    Question 10:
Social Skills - Can you talk to NPC's by any chance? Can you use voice emotes? Can you use emotes like in WoW?

you can talk to just about every NPC you encounter based on the Demo. Not sure what you mean by voice emotes, (like your character speaking back? No based on my experience, but unsure). No idea on emotes like WoW, probably not since it would just outrage most Diablo fans lol.

PHEW, that was a lot of typing....so tired...lol. Keep em coming and I'll do my best to answer!

If you wouldn't mind, could you share everything about the Barbarian? even the easter egg :)

    also

How did the Barbarian feel in comparison to the other classes? Watching the videos I got a little worried cause it felt he wasn't doing nearly as much damage as the other classes and it looked like he was lagging behind.

The Barbarian does tons of AOE dmg, and he can take a real beating. He is not meant for nuking though either, he is a solid DPS. Wizards nuke, Barbs DPS. When i say he can take a beating, i MEAN he can take a beating. I would not say he lags behind based on my playing with him. I must say that i forsee barbs being played more differently than from D2(i wouldn't say VERY differently, but not a little either). This is more likely because of monster encounters and how the game flows more than any actual changes to the Barb.

And yes, game DOES flow differenlty; honestly for the better imo. If you're super hardcore and hate change you may not appreciate it as much. Monster come in larger groups, more of them around in a smaller amount of space in general. I believe the PR guy said they wanted a consistant flow of monsters, so that there is no lull in the action, and there isnt any; job well done i would say.

Did you see any rainbows and/or rabbits in the game?

    Funny you should ask...

    What is the release date?

Will the world end before this date?

He told me December 13, 2012. I dont know if the world could possibly end a day before then, but lets hope not ;)

why do you think he became the deadly force he is now? All those years of anger, frustration, teenage-angst...yelling at his frail mother for "never wanting him" or about how his father was "a disgrace for hiring someone else to clean up the skeletons in the closet!" So yes...yes he is...

Will the old Evils be back in d3? I'm talking about Anguish and Pain.

For that matter, will we see all 7 in d3? How's about those other greater demons mentions in novels, like Atrogha the spider for example.

Lore was not his strong point, but he said that they will be apart of the story, most likely background story, but he was not sure. This was one thing frustrating talking with him, that since he was PR he didnt know as much lore as we or the rest of the d3 team does. He does have the game on his computer back home though...(i thought about asking him where he lived after that little bit of info actually...)

YES to cameo appearance, that was indeed brought up and he told me we would definetly be seeing returns from d2, just maybe not in playable form.
-EDIT- just thought maybe i should clarify that all my info comes from PR and personal DEMO play, not from a dev. So who knows what gets changed or how reliable PR is vs Dev.

Well I'll start things off by saying that I've asked about Tyreal and his involvemnt and got about as much confirmation on the subject without an official confimation. "He will be featuring a large role in the game" bladda bladda. Smirks when asked about him being the instigator in the meteor event. I don't know what info has flown from blizz's mouth about Tyreal already but I asked some questions about that anyways. Ask away about items, spec, play styles, spells, feel of the game, I'll answer. I will say that I am a dedicated D2 fan, i bitched about the rainbow thing a little even, but after playing the game am confident in it and trust it will be all d2 was and better....though i suppose i cant comment specifically on story or lore.

So I had the wonderful opportunity to play Diablo 3 at this last weekends Penny Arcade Expo. I sat in line for probably about 4 hours total in order to play every class available (Played enough to find their secret little easter egg in the demo, which I MIGHT tell you about :P). During my time in line I spent about 1-2 hours talking with the Diablo 3 Public Relations rep. (I wish I could remember his name) about everything under the sun Diablo 3. So I now have a wealth of knowledge I am willing to hand out. Just ask a question and (hopefully) I can answer.

I've been a long time Diablo fan. Played the **** outa all of em. So i totally understand where the outrage comes from in art direction. However i truly enjoy where it is in D3. I think it looks gorgeous as is and truly like a piece of art. So yes, I voted that I like it. I wouldn't say it is perfect, but its deffenetly great. I must say though, in regards to the post above me with the "what it looks like/what it should be" pics that the redone work on the right gives me a much more familiar feeling closer to what D2 and 1 were, but it dosnt change my stance as the new work imo is a nice change, change is something i like.

yea, going along with what XxL2PxX said, in both Diablo I and II Diablo spawned through a human. Took over their body and grew from the inside out so to speak. So perhaps the image shown is nothing more then a more natural form of Diablo. Diablo unrestrained by the human body, or a true form.
