Apr 28, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on How Long Is Too Long For Game Development? It really depends on the game and its genre. I am always willing to wait for a game if itll be better, but games lilke zelda shouldnt take 10 years to make and at the same time they shouldnt (as no game should) take a couple months. Zelda games should be given a couple years space usually as it allows for adequate developement time as well as the players to not be burnt out from the series (tony hawk, NFS, mario party, ect.).Posted in: News
That being said, with certain games around 10 years seems to be fine. And by certain games i more or less mean diablo as i dont mind that it has taken so long because diablo II is the most amazing game ever developed and i can play it again and again for 10 years lol. Zelda games are outstanding but after a few playthroughs you are going to need a break before you play it again as to where diablo II has the most replaybality i have ever seen in any game.
so it all boils down to a balance and the fact that diablo is in a league of its own and certainly is a unique circumstance. I am ready for diablo III :). -
Apr 16, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on Diablo 3 Difficulty Levelsi like how bashiok put it. Diablo II was a pretty good difficulty IMO, but it was flawed in areas. Trying to beat the game with a sorceress in hell mode was pretty hard, annoying, and boring. Now it should be hard, but not impossible! reesistances are good, but immunities are no fun to have ALL THE TIME. IT should be as hard or harder than DII but in a better way that fixes the bad things of DII.Posted in: News

Jan 7, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.i dont want a beta personally. Takes away the fun of the first time IMO.Posted in: News
i think you used the word cons twice and meant to have pros in there somewhere lol. but i agree, the customization is always good. Sure it helps the people who don't know anything about it, but that is dumbing it down for people that truly enjoy the game and making multiple character builds. Bad idea. Maybe they should just slightly recraft the system and not take it away altogether. -
Jan 7, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.you never had to "reroll" (btw this is diablo, who calls it rerolling honestly?) for your stats in diablo 2. You just had to be smart in allocation from the beginning. That is why diablo is so fun. It is about planning out your character and then plowing through to make that beast that you want. Taking away stat customization is in no way good, while i can see why they want to do it.Posted in: News

Jul 10, 2008SNowfreak posted a message on Official BlizzCast 5 Q&A SubmissionsI have a couple questions...I highlighted the important part of each.Posted in: News
1.) In reference to the dungeon they showed off (Forgotten Tombs) in the gameplay video; are the dungeon maps going to be linear like it was in the video? was this just for the sake of showing off the game play and was rigged to be a one way dungeon? i am hoping we see multiple paths going in different directions, as there was in previous diablos
2.) Blizzard showed off many different skills in the video, and i noticed there was a box that expands when you get more skills (the skill selection box for the hotbar). So this does not give any inclination as to how many skills there are per character. How many skills are there going to be per character?
3.) I noticed that there are different level caps for different skills, such as whirlwind being 20, wall of zombies 5, and so on. How many skills are going to be capped at 1, 5, 10, and 20 for each character? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Oh and i was going to get the prince of persia series on PC, but I wasn't sure it was worth it...any word of advice there? haha

Is Jack and Daxter better, worse, or different then R and C? What are each of them most like? are they open world like zelda, level based worlds like mario, linear like god of war...?
Thanks for the help.

The two are completely different types of games. Here it is in a nutshell, if you want an updated CoD 4 (im somewhat assuming) then get MW2 (i am not supporting them lol, besides BF:BC2 is gonna be better IMO), otherwise get borderlands. I own borderlands, and while it cant possibly hold up to diablo in the sense of replayability and all that, what game can? IMO borderlands is about a 9. It is not perfect, as i could point out many flaws, but none of which are game ruining, rather they are hindrences that make the game fall short of being a game i could play as long as diablo II. I love the game and the shooter aspects of the game are very well done, and combat is fun. I reccomend the game if you like FPS's and Diablo

my gosh some people hate EA so much when really they are a pretty great company, or at least can be. They are so big that they have games that suck and games that rock. That is mainly because it isn't the same studio working on it haha. Besides EA has had their hand in some of the greatest games.
Crysis series
Valve games
SSX 3
Battlefield games
mirrors edge (at least it was frsh and new)
dantes inferno
dragon age
command and conquer
and so many more. I realize EA has some crappy games, but for every crappy game theres a great one aswell. And who cares, DICE and battlefield ROCK!

Diablo II isn't good because the graphics are bad, its good because it's good. That will probably be the case with Dragon age as well. That doesn't mean they both couldn't benefit from the graphics boost.
I was going to post a graphics comparison between twilight princess, oblivion, and demon's souls, but i wont get off topic.

I hear ya, but IMO its almost not fair because Diablo is like a 20/10 : P. I Love DII so much and have by far got more time out of that game then any other and when patch 1.13 comes out, I will play it more. That being said, that is definitely borderlands weakness is that it could have had things done to it to make it as awesome and replayable as diablo, but instead falls short of it and hits along with other titles that are awesome but not nearly as good as diablo II haha. I can't wait for DIII!
p.s. - Does anyone feel like respecs in borderlands is a good or bad thing? I know that for me, it takes out the point of making more then one version of a character.

I don't get why anyone thinks oblivions graphics are good. They are actually pretty terrible, along with halo 3 and source engine games. By terrible i mean on today's standards, all three are relatively dated in terms of graphics.

Presentation- 9.5 / 10
Definitely a highlight for this game, the presentation is so entertaining and likable. The art style really makes the game unique and more enjoyable then if it had not been implemented.
Audio - 8/ 10
Good but not too much is done to really set itself apart from other games. everything from music too sound effects are well executed, just not as memorable as games like Metroid.
Graphics - 9/10
Unreal Engine 3 is beautiful but is also loosing its place as the best among today's graphics. That being said the game is rather easy to run and the art style pulls it all together into a beautiful and fresh piece with some bugs here and there.
Gameplay - 9/10
The game does what hellgate, fallout, and others should have done (at least in my opinion). The fighting is fun, and takes skill, but certainly feels as though loot and rpg elements matter. The running, shooting, and other elements are reminiscent of battlefield and make for a great chaotic and tactical experience.
re playability- 8.5 / 10
An awesome game that depending who you are is rather re playable and will last you many many hours. The problem is that character classes are not different enough to necessitate making many many characters (with four being the most you'd ever need to make). The areas in the game are fun, well made, and offer enough variety, but not as much as I would have liked. As to where Diablo II managed to make the progression of tile sets more enjoyable then most. When compared to normal games the re playability is among the best, but when compared to Diablo II (most re playable game every IMO) it falls short.
Overall - 9/10
While the game has its quirks here and there and certainly isn't as re playable as games like Diablo II, it still offers a very similar feeling that any FPS and Diablo II fan will love every second of.

I still fail to see your point. good graphics dont make a bad game, they actually make it better, but yeah if the game sucks graphics wont save it. And as far as sequels go...nintendo is the king of milking sequels...which honestly I generally like, because mario (no story at all and none needed), zelda (decent story but not deep at all, very cliche, and repeats itself), and metroid (best of the three for stories) are awesome games. it's kind of like saying LoZOoT was bad because it had the best graphics of the time, but in reality it was the best zelda ever made, and the graphics only helped that. I guess im just failing to see what games you are talking about is all.
As for the motion control, it has its place in gaming, but I think it can never work for all game genres, and it certainly has created some bad trends in gaming. with the wii's graphic capabilities, motion controls, and the way it is advertised, its no wonder practiclaly all the games suck (except for nintendo, who even managed to kill mario kart lol). I just hope things change in the futur and nintendo offers the best of both worlds, cause zelda is one of the best series ever.
Anyway back to topic : P.
1) DLC that isnt really DLC but part of the game they kept hidden from you and made you pay for.
2) collectors editions that have in game content. I paid the price for your frikkin game now give me the whole thing!
