Apr 28, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on How Long Is Too Long For Game Development? It really depends on the game and its genre. I am always willing to wait for a game if itll be better, but games lilke zelda shouldnt take 10 years to make and at the same time they shouldnt (as no game should) take a couple months. Zelda games should be given a couple years space usually as it allows for adequate developement time as well as the players to not be burnt out from the series (tony hawk, NFS, mario party, ect.).Posted in: News
That being said, with certain games around 10 years seems to be fine. And by certain games i more or less mean diablo as i dont mind that it has taken so long because diablo II is the most amazing game ever developed and i can play it again and again for 10 years lol. Zelda games are outstanding but after a few playthroughs you are going to need a break before you play it again as to where diablo II has the most replaybality i have ever seen in any game.
so it all boils down to a balance and the fact that diablo is in a league of its own and certainly is a unique circumstance. I am ready for diablo III :). -
Apr 16, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on Diablo 3 Difficulty Levelsi like how bashiok put it. Diablo II was a pretty good difficulty IMO, but it was flawed in areas. Trying to beat the game with a sorceress in hell mode was pretty hard, annoying, and boring. Now it should be hard, but not impossible! reesistances are good, but immunities are no fun to have ALL THE TIME. IT should be as hard or harder than DII but in a better way that fixes the bad things of DII.Posted in: News

Jan 7, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.i dont want a beta personally. Takes away the fun of the first time IMO.Posted in: News
i think you used the word cons twice and meant to have pros in there somewhere lol. but i agree, the customization is always good. Sure it helps the people who don't know anything about it, but that is dumbing it down for people that truly enjoy the game and making multiple character builds. Bad idea. Maybe they should just slightly recraft the system and not take it away altogether. -
Jan 7, 2009SNowfreak posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.you never had to "reroll" (btw this is diablo, who calls it rerolling honestly?) for your stats in diablo 2. You just had to be smart in allocation from the beginning. That is why diablo is so fun. It is about planning out your character and then plowing through to make that beast that you want. Taking away stat customization is in no way good, while i can see why they want to do it.Posted in: News

Jul 10, 2008SNowfreak posted a message on Official BlizzCast 5 Q&A SubmissionsI have a couple questions...I highlighted the important part of each.Posted in: News
1.) In reference to the dungeon they showed off (Forgotten Tombs) in the gameplay video; are the dungeon maps going to be linear like it was in the video? was this just for the sake of showing off the game play and was rigged to be a one way dungeon? i am hoping we see multiple paths going in different directions, as there was in previous diablos
2.) Blizzard showed off many different skills in the video, and i noticed there was a box that expands when you get more skills (the skill selection box for the hotbar). So this does not give any inclination as to how many skills there are per character. How many skills are there going to be per character?
3.) I noticed that there are different level caps for different skills, such as whirlwind being 20, wall of zombies 5, and so on. How many skills are going to be capped at 1, 5, 10, and 20 for each character? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

AGREED! As long as people don't exploit the system through cheating, it would be a good method.

It doesn't work that way. its like giving every player in goldeneye a golden pp7 and you dont use it because you dont like it. not gonna happen.
p.s. - i dont care if a few people say "i dont have time to get to high levels with multiple characters, so they should have respecs". Well, to frikkin bad is the way i see it. Can you imagine if thats how video game developement worked? Yeah they should shorten Final Fantasy games too because of some people who dont have the time to beat them.

haha while I agree, the thread wasnt really about who's better : P. Ya guys hear what I am saying about MW though? I just feel like MW isnt actually like war, but rather halo or something.

1) I think people should lose skills or something for respecing.
2) To me figuring out skills and whats good combos is fun, but i hear you, and they should have a skill training grounds or something outside of the main game so people can make builds to see if its good. then noone can complain when they mess up.
3) I and others loved starting over. Hell i loved it so much I never got a 99 in the game, because its so fun to start over!
4) I'm not sure what you mean by "only 1 point by point", but if you mean you can respec only the last point you spent then i love that idea.
0
no i agree with you, and i know others that do too. I LOVED starting over in DII.

quote for the win! I frikkin HATE the idea of respecs to begin with, and he has a point. Gotta say, I'm a bit scared with blizz's idea right now haha.

precisely lol. yes it has modern guns and maybe the single player (although i hear its over the top) is more like modern warfare, but in essence the multiplayer really is not a good representation of modern warfare. in modern warfare you have big environments with vehicles and squad based tactics. this game is more chaotic and is reminsecent of goldeneye meets UT.

Looking at the title of MW2 you would think the games multiplayer (maybe the single player is more fitting of the name) would feel like warfare set in today's world, when actually it is like Goldeneye meets unreal tournament. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but to me is inaccurately shown off as something similar to battlefield when clearly it is not even similar. The game is more chaotic in a unreal tournament sense, as to where BF is chaotic in a warfare sense. In addition to that, it is exaggerated in the running speed and blood on your screen aswell (also very extreme like UT). The maps are huge, there's vehicles (core component of the game), destructible environments, squad focused gameplay (usually), with many different ways to go about achieving the goal in the map. I much prefer BF to MW, but that's me and the style i enjoy personally. thoughts...

hmm...if you mean each skill will have its own small tree and different ways to customize it, then that COULD be cool, but the way i gathered it was that it was more like x men or something and just a list of skills. if they nerf the skill system this game could be ruined.

they said the wizard doesn't have many passives (unlike the barbarian), which makes me think how horrible it would be to use ten different skills on enemies. I get the whole make more skills useful thing, but i don't want to use every skill all the time, that'll make diablo too stressful feeling, its supposed to be simple but requires some thinking.
0
i absolutely detest this idea as it gives you no sense of lvling up and getting to more epic skills. Not only that, but there had better be a good few passive skills in the mix, because i don't want to be using 10 different skills as i play, that's just too much.
0
you have three options as a barbarian:
1) weapon and shield (but what freakin barbarian does that, that's a paladin style IMO)
2) Weapon and Weapon
3) Weapon (two handed)
there should be separate skills for dual wield and two handed weapons. dual weapons should make your barbarian faster and allow him to block, as to where two handed weapons should be much stronger and more accurate but have no blocking capability and be slower.
idk, i just hope they aren't the same thing with different looks.

Second of all, is there any reason i should get guitar hero over it? I just see them as nearly the same game, but rock band is cheaper and has more music i like. Thanks for the help.
