Aug 26, 2008Snowee posted a message on Leipzig 2008: inDiablo talks to Jay Wilson about death and tradePosted in: NewsQuote from "Romak" »Now that's what I mean when I say "Interactive Penalty". To be honset what akse said reminds of the FPS game "Prey", where you have a few seconds to strike souls (Red ones for Health and Blue ones for Energy) when you die and when the time's up, you are sent back to the normal world with as much health and mana that you managed to catch... although the feature was executed horribly in that game... there is alot of room for improvements in that concept.
But on the other hand... the problem is that Diablo's universe do not support the concept of "Afterlife", "Realm of the dead" or that kind of stuff. Plus I think that a minigame like that could get boring in time if it doesn't vary.
I remember that from Prey! That was so cool and innovative. Especially with the idea that you return with the amount of health and mana you earned to keep from your "death experience". I really think they could so something with that. But yeah it'd have to be something that doesn't get too boring.
- Like walking down a very dark hallway and avoiding apparitions, I don't know.
- How about simply becoming an invisible (or slightly visible) specter after death, I'm not sure what you could possibly do afterwards besides float around but it leaves room for ideas.
- Or maybe see the course of your death in slow motion, just so you can feel bad. xD -
Aug 7, 2008Snowee posted a message on Secret Cow Level To Return in Diablo 3Lol, really? That's great. As long as they revamp it like they say they weill, bravo.Posted in: News
I just hope it doesn't spawn more cow rushing and looting, and crap like that.
By the way if you read the interview you'll notice they're not positive if the Cow Level will return.
We don’t really know at this point. I really like the idea of secret stuff that ‘Diablo II’ put forward, but it’s not the kind of thing we would decide this early. But if we have something, I can assure people will be happy with it. -
Aug 6, 2008Snowee posted a message on Diablo III Development UpdatePosted in: NewsQuote from "Veltras" »Stop it, we all know that D3 is going to come out on June 29th 2009 (you know DiabloI 12th birthday 1 + 2 = 3 it's just too perfect ;))
Wow hey your right, that's very interesting and very, very possible. xD
D2 and LOD both came out on June 29th, LOD exactly one year after D2.
And Diablo came out in 1997, making 2009 it's 12th Birthday! 1 + 2 = 3! Diablo 3!
D3 was announced June 28th.. well that's close enough.
But wow that's amazing. It's a great guess that Diablo 3's coming out June 29th 2009. xD

I guess it's not a bad thing, it's just LOD came out about year after D2. :3 -
Aug 2, 2008Snowee posted a message on Diablo 3 Multiplayer To Be EncouragedI don't mind playing D3 for the first time online. Besides the other players that some people may or may not lke, there's no difference in terms of lore or content. But if your talking about SC2 or WC single players, then that's a whole different ball game. You can't really compare those kinds of single player because Diablo's storyline was completely available online, whereas SC's and I'm sure WC's online didn't have any kind of storyline in them. I actually dislike playing Diablo on single player cause' it's too quiet and solitary, I want to enjoy the first experience with a group of buds.Posted in: News
I don't think it'll be too hard to avoid those mainstream games where everyones just doing their thing, especially since games probably won't hold more then 4-5 people. Just make some friends and stick with them. My 5.1 speakers and 24" monitor are all I'll really need to enjoy my first play through D3. -
Aug 1, 2008Snowee posted a message on Diablo 3 Multiplayer To Be EncouragedI remember first buying the game years ago, they had already had a lot of emphasis to play online on the box. They had the whole book-like cover thing going on that showed more info inside, that was cool. Besides all that advertising on the box how about..Posted in: News
1) Players are given free items if they register a B.net account. Maybe a special weapon with a time duration or low durability that isn't necessarily strong, but has unique properties like the use of another classes skill or something.
2) A demo for an upcoming Bliz game that is only playable after registering for B.net.
3) A 30-day trial to have an expanded inventory. For example I hear the Barbarian had greyed out slots in his inventory meaning he couldn't carry as much.
4) Exclusive interviews, behind the scenes, artwork, bloopers, any kind of special features only available somehow after registering for B.net. Maybe instead of just registering, you have to play online for a certain time. Nah, I guess that's too harsh. -

It's as if the new characters retain a similar nature from their respective predecessors, does that make sense? With this said I think the fifth class will be someone who will fill in the void of the Amazon, because none of the four classes have any similarity with her. So if I'm right and they follow that trend, I guess the question is who would have the nature of an Amazon? xD
Or maybe they'll make a brand new character, shit I dunno lol. *goes insane*

Yea I wonder how much we'll be able to dig into the background of out characters, I really wanna know more about the guy I'm playing as. I remember Blizzard saying they'll be scattered tomes, scrolls, etc that'll share some history or background. They even said it'll play similarly to BioShock's tapes, which in my opinion doesn't sound very promising. I hope they darken the screen and incorporate some kind of slide show artwork to draw the person in. Take this for example (one of my favorite games) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq9N9ddsKg8.

PS: Whatta think of playing D3 with... a glove ! xD

And damn there aren't too many slots avaliable for items! I know they said that as you level up more will become available.. but. Ah well then again there's the stash, lol. I wonder how that will work out. And what the heck is a talisman? Is that like a second amulet.. or a quest item?

Really? You wouldn't like the idea of a character who's race is demon? What about any other race besides human? Of course I mean something that'll be similar to a human and not something crazy like a dwarf. Like say a half angel with glowing eyes or a half demon with redish pigmentation and little spikes on his face, perhaps there's something else in the lore that's untouched? xD

I don't know, judging by what they have right now they look and feel insignificant. I'm fine with the inventory and equip slots but damn are the icons and design are small when you hover over them. It wouldn't hurt to make them bigger would it? It's not like it'll distract you since no one checks their inventory and fights at the same time. Maybe they can add some animation to it as well, like if it's enchanted by fire, ice, etc. Or how about having a little button for a mini biography of the weapon, for legendary items of course.
What do you think?

Aahh ok, cause when they said that I was worried you wouldn't get your own loot from other people's kills. They would seriously hinder the amount of drops one would receive.
0
And it's the same question for chests, I'm sure they won't limit those kind of drops to one person.

Hopefully the beta will be out by then.
PS: By the way I just have a gut feeling that D3 will probably come out in 2010 and not 2011.

For example as a visual move how about certain monsters being able to throw the player for extra damage or to isolate him from the group, perhaps even occasionally being thrown off a cliff.. which would up the fear factor. Or how about grabbing a player and choking him to death under a certain amount of time until someone strikes and frees him. Another one comes directly from Left 4 Dead where a monster can vomit blood or something onto a player, forcing monsters to spawn or come out of the ground to mass attack that player. What about being infected with a parasite that causes you to be crippled, I could go on and on with idea's for these "special attacks".
I've seen a little bit of these in the D3 demo where the goat mage (whatever he is) freezes two players with ice making them vulnerable. And another famous one where the mini boss grabs a player and bites his head off. I just want to see a lot more of that but on a smaller scale and with more strategy and teamwork involved.
