Just bought a new comp a month ago, so doubtful I'd buy a whole new rig. My motherboard is 3-way SLI compatible, however, and I'm only using a single 8800 GTS 512, so I might buy another one or two of those.
I'm certain that a quad-core machine with a single 8800 GTS 512 can handle D3 at pretty high settings (even if we don't know specifics), so the upgrades wouldn't be so much *for* diablo as for gaming in general.
Interesting information, but I personally hope a Diablo MMO never sees the light of day.
Agreed, while it has potential in terms of the game mechanics, having 1000s of other heroes around at all times would dilute the effect that the Daiblo series is supposed to have. There are supposed to be few heroes that can push the darkness out of the world, and you are one of those.
Those that keep toting the 'rogue' class around should remember that the rogues of D1 and D2's Act 1 were a female-only organization just like the Amazons. Given that all classes have male and female versions, a 'rogue' class, if introduced will likely be much different.
If there was any possibility of there being a monthly fee, we'd have heard about it by now. With the announcement of every subscription-based game I can think of, 25% of the FAQ is filled with questions about the subscription methods.
from the concept art in the diablo lore book, at blizzards main page,(the one that deckard cain read to ya) you see an awesome concept of the butcher, by that im assuming his back.
and i totlaly agree with ya, baal was gay. but i never really thought about it cause i had so much fun playing the game lol
Well when it does come out I will be filling out the form. Im sure they will try and pick people that are involved with d3 forums. I will just be happy to hear about people in beta. Beta means that they are getting closer and closer to finishing. If I get into Beta GREAT. If I miss the chance than thats ok. Warlord, you have been a member since 2006 so if you got in and I didnt i would be ok with that lol. I think the beta will be comming out probably 6-9 months
They reserve slots for the big gaming magazines, and top gaming websites, and usually hand out a bunch to the biggest community websites (which we hope to be). Instead of selecting specific members of the forum, they usually give a set number of passes to the site, that the admins can divy up however they want. Traditionally those sites will give passes to their top admins, and have contents to give away the rest.
what did the purple pinguin have to do with anything? and the blue ice? did it just represent blizzard (ie cold 4 cold)
these would have been great questions to ask blizz reps >.<
While I didn't answer about the penguin (no one knows, and I'm thinking it's just a red herring), I said above that Blizzard always told us that Diablo 3 would come when Hell froze over... While I don't think that's what is happening in the real storyline of the game, I think that's what the pic was supposed to represent (that, and keep us guessing).
I'm going to go out on a limb and say dial-up would be accetable for D3 if it's reliably getting a steady speed (not constantly peaking and dropping). Unlike a game like, say WoW, your comp is only going to need to communicate with the bnet server and at max 7 other people. I've heard of people with dial-up just barely being able to play on WoW, so keeping this in mind, I'd say it's likely.
Just for fun i put his name in an anagram algorithim-izer-tron-2000. Here are the results (Bold are ones close to english): Hazard Bail (Hazard Baal?) A Hazard Lib (A Hazard Lib? A Hard Az lib?) A Bah Lizard (A bad lizard - Diablo sorta looked like a lizard)

Just for fun dont take this too seriously like i believe it's the secret behind the last boss or anything.
Edit: Bolded and edited some 'translations'
Hah, that's pretty good.
I personally believe he'll be like the Dwarf, Brann was for WoW, just a name to attach lore pieces to.

Aye to that.

Yes, but that's just the battle.net chat/frontend, not the 'games'. The current max-size for each D3 game running is 8 players, just like before.

Baal always seemd too fancy and elegant for me.

Even without the dodgy release dates, the site looks hokey enough that I'd be afraid to even purchase games that have already been released from it.

If they're the type of professors that would understand, they should be playing too.
