Quote fromYou can always play the game while they're not in the house
Would feel to much like I was hiding it. That and they are in the house a heck of a lot more than I ever am.

Quote from "SFJake" »...Seriously?
You let your wife decide for you if a game can even get in the house?
I have nothing against prioritizing the wife over games, I would do the same, but thats just ridiculous. I guess you know what you are doing with a girl like that... but I would seriously hold no respect for anyone forcing me to not have a game because its too bloody. Its simply ridiculous.
Wilson: We intend to have people to be able to tone down the actual gore levels. In terms of whether we go beyond that, we?ll probably do something. But we haven?t really gotten into a specific design for it yet, so it?s hard to say.
Wired: Are you thinking it?s possible to turn off the blood completely? Or simply change the blood color?
Wilson: Yeah, we?re going to have to be able to turn off blood, change the color and things like that, because you can?t have red blood in some regions, regions that we would very much like to sell the game in. So we definitely build everything, that every bit of gore, in a deposited manner so that at a future date, we can go through and change it all or turn it off. In terms of what kind options we give, we actually give within a particular version. We?ve haven?t nailed it down, but if you turn down the gore, you can actually change it to not have red blood. That seems to be really the sticking point for a lot of people because a lot of times we use blood as feedback. And so if we take that out, that actually hurts the gameplay. But we can change the note of that feedback so that it?s something that people are more okay with.
Wired: Do you think they?ll be controversy over the parental controls, like we saw with the new art style?
Wilson: I?m sure someone will be controversial about it. I don?t think they should though, the idea that people put parental controls and allow for option of turning down the blood. It?s not like we?re doing it across the board. It?s not like we?re forcing it on everyone. We?re making it an option, and not the default option. Will some people complain about it? I?m sure they will. But ultimately, that?s the world we live in.

Wait, pasta? Is this Italian now? I know there are various ethnicities attatched to Diablo, but the DH is Italian? (actually, that would fit, but it sounds british).
Jokes aside, I couldn't agree more. It's definitely cool, and the fan of knives is a good touch. It's less of a copy paste than it is a fusion in my mind, which is fine. Works. Again, the feel reminds me of vanhelsing + Buffy. I like it.
EDIT: At the "Hero Emerges" panel, with the concept art, I wonder if there's a shot of the male Demon hunter.

At about 6:42. Looks like a Hassansin out of the Prince of Persia movie. Say what you will about the movie, but I like that look.
EDIT: Another shot at 8:14, still getting the Prince of Persia vibe.

No option for both?
As I see it, Science is the search for useful information. Something that, when tested, has reasonably consistent results and is relevant to the issue you wish to address. That doesn't mean it can't be disproven, it just means no one has done it yet. They've failed to prove the null hypothosis. Still, it's useful information. For instance, Einsteinian physics supersedes Newtonian Physics, yet Newtonian Physics are not obsolete. They are quite useful in architecture, among other things. Yet if you were to try to build a building according to Einsteinian Physics, or better yet, the newer quantum physics, you wouldn't have a good building. Hence, we still have and use Newtonian physics.
On the other hand Science is not the search for truth. Philosophy is the search for truth, and religion is one of the paths used in philosophy. There is no information that can really be applied to advancement, unless it's on a personal philosophic level. You aren't looking for proof of what you believe, and quite frankly, it is my experience that anyone and everyone chooses to believe what they want, regardless of what evidence they have access to.
As long as I keep the two in separate boxes, I'm fine as both a religious person and as someone who learns the knowledge of men. Scientists will always look for the answers to forever questions, constantly finding new answers to some of the same questions and getting new information and benefits therefrom. Individuals can always find answers to their personal questions from religion that will benefit them personally.
I honestly hope that a scientist doesn't halt their research or their theories because they believe the answer to their question is already given by their God. If so, they will never try to find out anything for themselves, and will reap no benefit from their expectations.
On the other hand, particularly from a Christian perspective, I see little value in applying scientific process to religion. Faith is the operating factor in that particular world. If salvation comes from Faith, than it would be pretty stupid for God to allow himself to be proven to people who don't have it. They'd never have the opportunity to develop faith, and as such, would be damned. That and they'd no longer have a choice in the matter, and quite frankly, what good is faith, love, or devotion if it isn't given by choice.
That's just me though.

Still laughing?
EDIT: BTW, gratz to OP. Nice call. Not sure if the whole whip thing is going to be included, but, the class itself is in.

Some guys can keep a good grip on their swords for some time, whereas others are done rather quickly............
In all seriousness, I always figured Kabraxis getting control was an inevitability, especially with the last time we saw Lang and what his actions were.

You've got a point. Maybe both? I'd hate for either to be left out.

Oh pu-lease. That kind of whining really doesn't help you make your point. Your posts are still up unless they are particularly offensive. No one has stopped you from putting up your opinion. People just overwhelmingly disagree with you, as the evidence is against you. And no, you haven't debunked the evidence. You've called it into question, but as there is no evidence for your viewpoint and nothing that contradicts the evidence that we have, it still stands.
Oh, really quick, I seem to recall something about us seeing Belial in Act 2. Can someone confirm? I need to go pick up my wife.

Your sarcasm doesn't change anything.
Dauroth is right. He takes the quotes for what they are worth and comes to the most likely conclusion. It's a logical process.
Again, work with the information we have, not the information we don't.

Again, go with the information we have, not the information we don't. 3 People have said that it's Diablo, and Jay Wilson says Diablo is in-game (and don't tell me it's not in the initial release, as most game developers, including Blizzard don't start working expansions until the game is at least finished as it would be bad business to put money into developing an expansion if the game doesn't do well). We have no information that says hes not in-game, nor that the demon is not him. Only things that say he is. Occams Razor therefore states that it is indeed Diablo. Give it up until you actually have something to go on, as at the moment, you have nothing.
Also, in fantasy, the Abyss can refer to many things, especially as far as Demons are concerned. Until we know more about what this Abyss is, we shouldn't rule out anything coming back from it. Diablo was there once before.

I would also point out that this is fantasy. In fantasy, death is hardly insurmountable (especially in fantasy like this). How many times in any form of fantasy have heroes, villain, and anything in between come back from what we though was a permanent death? Very very many. I wouldn't say that he can't come back just yet.
BTW, nice article Dauroth. I especially like how you talked about how people could see things like those horns and see bat wings. It fits with how things are often described biblically and how they are in reality, or what things may represent in terms of horns and wings. Definitely a good read.

Fair enough. Also, if Blizzard comes out and says that he's not the Angel of Death, I'll happily and humbly change my tune.
On that note, two other possible titles came to me, although I still think Death works better. Mourning and/or Remorse. Neither of them explain his intimidation factor though.
As for Imperius, whilst my first reaction is "Angel of War," Unlike Death, I have never heard of an Angel of War. It does seem a bit odd. I can see it being possible, as they say that religion has caused more wars than anyone, and his demeanor fits, and the Angels seem to have a much better organized military, but I'm not anywhere near certain on this one.
Maybe Wrath. I've heard of an Angel of Wrath before, although it may not fit as well. I hope we get official word on the titles of the Angiris Council. Would be a good thing to bring up at the Lore panel at Blizzcon (/hint hint wink wink nudge nudge).

Furthermore, why should what we know about Diablo's cosmology, (which is admittedly not as much as we'd like) interfere with there being an Angel of Death? The first time we see that Angels have specific domains is when we meet the Angiris Council, of which Malthael is a part (correct me if I'm wrong). This council, including Malthael, are the ones setting the precedence of what domains Angels have.

I think you don't quite realize how dark a Voodoo Witch Doctor can be. They don't have to be, and I certainly don't think that real live Voodoo practitioners are necessarily evil (as I understand it, Zombies are more of a local thing in Haiti, not an actual part of the Voodoo religion), but Blizzard is tapping into something that could easily be quite dark, and they are doing a good job with it.
This is the kind of spell-caster that was feared in the time of the Salem Witch Trials. The sort of person who can curse you by bargaining and communing with spirits, who can kill you from anywhere just because he has a doll and something of yours that you have no idea how he got it. This is the person who gets together weird ingredients, boils them in a pot surrounded by weird symbols, communes with spirits you don't even want to think about, and gets the Zombie of an old enemy of yours who died to come after you.
