I think you all missed Badman44's point.

Ocarina of time is the first zelda in 3d. It was a hit and many consider it even today as the best game ever made. Everybody played it and loved it. It really raised the bar for the sequels.

Then, the next 3d Zelda is announced : Wind Waker. The art direction is completely different : cel-shading, childish, cartoony... All the Internet overreact on one single aspect of the game : the art style. Articles, polls, hate mail... :P Exactly what we've seen with Diablo 3.
Then the game released and most of the complaints stopped, since it was a great game and most fans loved it. The gameplay was just incredible.

If you ask a Zelda fan that didnt like Wind Waker whats wrong with the game, he'll say : the graphics. He wont say anything else. As if all the other aspects of the game are flawless. Yet, since he doesnt like the art style, he thinks the game is garbage.

    See the OOT=D2 WW=D3 analogy?

Just another thing ::: Did you realy thought that the WD was a zombie ??

When I looked at that photoshop? No.

But if it all started to animate with Diablo's fast-paced gameplay and with "seven other players and dozens of monsters", maybe I would.

I think that "paladin" is an angel.

The face is completely hidden and I see tendrils spreading from those shoulder pads.

posted a message on The summoner? BACK? no? yes?
Of course its not the Summoner.

The Summoner's hat is really, really large, with very long horns on the sides.

Plus that guy doesnt wear the same robe, the colors are different, he's wearing a golden mask, ...

If this is the summoner then Bashiok's avatar is Diablo (he's red! there's horns!). :cute:

posted a message on What entirely new character class would you like to see in D3?
Diablo 3 is a new game, so I hope all the 3 unannounced classes will be new…

Cleric (or Inquisitor, Exorcist, Zealot, Monk, Priest…)
Basically a replacement for the Sorceress as a pure range caster wielding staves and wands.

In all the games that have a fantasy setting, it seems that the pure damage dealer always have to be a mage. A cleric (usually healbots in such games) doing the job of the mages/sorceress would be more original IMO. After all, we’re fighting demons and undeads here, so a class only using the energies of the Light should be as potent as any sorcerer.

He should also have some skills similar to the Paladin’s : buffs, heals, maybe some auras… That would make him a very interesting and versatile character : not only able to solo the game just by slaughtering enemies with powerful holy spells, but also very usefull in any group.

    Anti-Paladin

Even if I dont want the Paladin to come back in D3, I think he deserves to get a replacement that would basically have the same role (melee/caster hybrid). Instead of a holy warrior, we could have the exact opposite. I’ve found two interesting concepts for this class on these forums, but I cant really choose…

    1) Melee Necromancer
If you played Warcraft 3 : think Death Knight.

He could be a Necromancer from the cult of Rathma that decided to wear plate armor and fight his enemies himself instead summoning skeletons. His unholy spells and curses would increase his damage/armor or weaken his enemies.

While still able to summon skeletons, he would mostly use close combat skills.

    2) Warlock (or Demon hunter, Demonologist…)
A warrior that decided to use the demons’ powers against them. Able to use fire spells (such as immolation/fire armor), he can also transform himself into a demon to be even more powerful in close combat.
He should be able to enslave demons and force them to fight for him.

    ?
Then we’d need an archer… I dont have any good ideas. Maybe an Amazon/Assassin mix could do the job.

Basically the biggest problem with my ideas is that there would not be any class mastering the elements (fire/ice/lightning/earth/water) or nature, plants and animals (like the druid). To me its not a problem but that could disappoint quite a few fans.
