If I remember correctly they've in the past (not far past, quite recently) said that the Barbarian was the Only class returning in the Vanilla, they did however say the possability of the Necromancer returning in an Expansion (They did not say there would be just 1 expansion) existed.

I got the feeling reading the article that you linked had the context taken out. All things are the same in the eye of scrutiny.

The necromancer does have place for improvement, but not a whole lot like the Barbarian.

(They did not say there would be just 1 expansion)
This is one thing I'm hoping for... short of WoW (which doesn't count imo) they have only released one expansion per game... and an RPG such as Diablo... can utilize multiple expansions far better to continue the life of the product. I mean D2 classic was almost NOTHING like D2:LOD. They could have changed the skills more or added up to level 36/42 skills, but the game still changed drastically and increased the life of the game by a large amount.

The necromancer does have place for improvement, but not a whole lot like the Barbarian.
I agree that the Barb was the character needing the most improvement... his abilities apart from whirlwind were very boring, and he wasn't overly well designed... The Paladin had the same problem, until they made Hammer rediculously over powered.
In regards to a possible return by the Necromancer... it would have to be different to the D2 version significantly... my favourite suggestion from someone so far has been a sort of death knight, evil warrior advocate. With a Poison/Shadow (caster) tree, A Bone/Summoning tree (limited emphasis on summons, and some classic bone spells) and a Curses/Torture tree (emphasis on physical damage, but more intricate than using brute force like the barbarian)

posted a message on Will there be no sexuality in Diablo 3?
Because sadly, more Concerned Citizens(tm) will be worried about a little nipple than any of the violence

Yep... unfortunately this is the case, It's the same sort of people that get angry when their kids are taught sex ed at school or get angry because the school nurse gives out condoms when people ask... It's funny how backwards we have gotten since the 60-70's sexual revolution... It's still a largely tabu topic and most family's aren't willing to accept it for what it is... a completely natural, evolutionary, and NECESSARY thing...

Sigh at middle class white suburbia... just to stereotype.

I just hate the entire water idea, in ANY game. Red Alert, Heroes. Gay gay gay. Single slot system in the inventory is ludicrous, btw.

Heroes has always had boats... and it's been an important part of the game. I'm not sure how you can discount it.
I admit I'm not a fan of boats in that game... as it's too easy to steal a town if the map is poorly made (no coast cover from trees/mountains) but it is well implemented and and integral part of the game.

no , i dont want another wow

Yep, wow is the only and first game to have swimming and water combat... It is also the sole aspect of the game, making any game that has swimming and water combat either a sequel/expansion/spin off to wow or breaching copyright issues.

On a less cynical and more constructive note, I don't really feel like water combat would work well in Diablo... About the only type that would is the sort that already exists in D2... in that there is water around, and monsters are in the water, and you can shoot each other, but you don't actually enter the water... maybe shallow water, like you can still walk in it... so the barb and other melee could get in on the action, then you could fight semi aquatic monsters.

    Also... See sig

No offense to the OP, but I've noticed many contradictions in his posts. Well to be honest just the title is enough to show contradiction. Stealing loot is not considered balanced in my book, not to mention losing my loot due to internet speed is not close to balance as well.

As for Successful gameplay, I can't say I'm all for PKing people 40 levels lower than you, if its normal mode, you lose some coins and experience. However, at times. the experience you lose at level 90 equals to a few days of your grinding. Not to mention a level 50 Hardcore player getting PKed by a level 90..... Doesn't make a very successful gameplay IMO.

As for the economy issue, do you honestly think blizzard has yet considered about it ? They know there are individual loots, and they obviously know there are more drops per boss, so I don't think its necessary for us to backtrack to the flawed loot system just to balance the economy.

And to join in some of the arguements going around, PKing lower levels does not help you make friends :O. Cooperative playing does

I am too tired to be bothered writing my own opinions... and this man has already said them for me... So..........

And also it doesnt require much intelligence to figure this out on your own.

You'd be surprised exactly how much intelligence is apparently needed to do anything judging by most of the stuff posted on these forums.

Anything I was about to say has already been said by Akse.... Use your common sense please.

I am 100% for personalized drops. I think it's bullocks that I should miss out on loot based on where I live.

I do hope they have some way to link your items, or inspect players... Make trading a lot easier.

It looks to me more like Fury might be a skill tree, or a secondary skill system that enhances actual skills....

However it could be that the Barb uses two different cost systems... maybe stamina is exactly the same as in D2... in that it runs out as you run around... and maybe now there are abilities... that aren't specifically spell like (like shouting) that also take away from stamina... as opposed to the energy source specific to the character (fury vs mana thus far)

posted a message on Skills you DONT want coming back
Well a lot of the Witch doctor's skills that we have seen are rehashed ones from Neco/Assa, but then they are made in a way that makes them unique compared to the old one (like blowing up and alive pet, vs corpse explosion)
So far, it looks like they are doing a great job of adding strategy and dynamic gameplay, as opposed to the straight up, fire one highly powerful spell/ability repetitively... which was Diablo 2.

Just looking at the little hound minions, you can summon multiple ones, but I'm assuming not to the point summoner necro's did... and you can enchant them with your damaging spells (fire bomb and locus swarm), ontop of this you can then destroy them in a violent explosion for massive aoe damage.

As a Summoner Necro in D2... you summoned 40+ minions and ran around spamming curses or re summoning as they died. While they were fun for a while, and it's kind of cool to be a walking army... In the long term it is a very boring strategy, there is really no skill involved and no room for variation.

I am thoroughly exited about the potential use of multiple skills to varying effects. Even the barb, who bored me to tears (whirlwind spam or frenzy, which i never tried) looks exciting, you have a long ranged hammer that hits for a bucket load, a cleave for multiple little enemies in your face, a shockwave for dealing a bit of aoe damage from a distance, a charge which does damage to enemies in a line... and of course Leap Attack which can clear dangerous enemies or help you bypass/traverse certain tricky obstacles. Not to mention the classic WW, shouts and a war stomp/stung ability which looks like it will be very nice.

Nah, they fixed that in a patch. After that, blood was a worthless golem. And fire didn't pack enough punch to make up for it's disadvantages. I'm pretty sure a couple of skeles could be stronger. And clay golem, massive life, slows like 65 percent, put that with a ice mage skele and decrepify, bosses couldn't even attack you because the frame rate would time out on their moves or something. That's how I could kill any boss solo, even a few ubers, but my friends eventually joined and picked up the slack, and I was back to being their primary tank summoner. Fun times...

Really? Aww... I liked my summoner pack with a blood golem that used Thorns aura act 2 Merc and Iron maiden... That was fun, SLOW... but fun.

This was either really early expansion or pre expansion how ever.

How about making bowzons not suck again? =)

Haha, yeah I like how they were ridiculously easy to play and far too powerful with the Guided Arrow + Pierce thing and I think Multishot spam for a while also... Then they went overboard and weakened them to the point where they were painful to play.

Personally I don't want to see a plethora of boring/useless abilities... for example - Bash, Vengeance, Find Potions, Javason Poison abilities etc.

Vengeance was useful for monsters immune to physical sure... but trying to make a build around it was painful, I made one once (convection/vengeance) and yeah... not really that fun.

Actually I suppose in light of the "some skills are 1, 5, 10 or 20 points" some of those old abilities that were useless, or at least useless beyond the first point, can be enhanced by making them a 1 or 5 point ability. I'm not entirely sure what type of abilities fit into the 10 point catagory but I can easily see 1, 5 and 20.

I would like to see a revamped Druid, with more focus on shapechange - don't care that much about the others, I'd rather see some new classes.

I hated the Druid mainly because elemental was so lame and originally under powered... and Pets was also a REALLY average sub tree.

I would like to see the druid if they revolved his whole essence around shape shifting... Maybe add some pets, but not have one entire tree devoted to pets.

OMG you're a freaking child... I am agreeing with you that starcraft is a great and successful game for fucks sake. Pull your head out of your arse and grow up. Every single thing I have said is in favour of Starcraft, you're taking this one line, out of context, which is meant in an ironic fashion, out of about 10 posts, and turning it into a crusade to try and label me some starcraft basher... In fact I don't think you even care about that any more, it sounds like you have realized your wrong but just want to be right, so are trying to grasp at whatever straw you can to hold yourself in a better light.

Have some of your own hypocritical medicine
Oh and for popularity, Starcraft far outnumbers the fans of Diablo

And in the if you want to compare popularity by sales, well duh Diablo wins by a longshot.

I don't care if your dissing it compared to the other franchises, you still diss it nonethless and that's a fact you cannot deny.

Actually it's a fact I can deny, just because you take everything out of context in a literal fashion doesn't mean thats what it means, I suppose the next time someone says "man I'm having a shit day, sometimes I wish I could just kill my boss" you're going to go call the cops?

Anyway I'm bowing out of this childish debate. I cannot be anymore reasonable without LYING and saying "I do not like starcraft and I think it is the worst game ever invented". And L2P clearly needs to L2growthefuckup

If you looked at the rest of the post that you have quoted from me, I have quoted two of his posts on this exact thread whcih contradict each other. One quote he admits he dissed the Starcraft franchise and the other he denies it. That is a contradiction according to the definition of the dictionary i have looekd up and posted.

So we eventually arrive to the age old "this quote taken out of context proves me right" argument... Let me put it in context... which if you read one sentence later... all in capitols mind you...

and yes... I did diss the starcraft franchise... COMPARED TO THE OTHER BLIZZARD FRANCHISES. Because in rankings Warcraft > Diablo > Starcraft

    and

I never said anything about starcraft failing in the gaming world... I said it was the least popular blizzard franchise out of Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo... AND that wasn't even my point.

If you remember, saying something isn't as good as something else... is not saying it's bad.

This does in no way mean that Starcraft isn't successful/popular or great.

I suppose I could have used better wording, but you seem to be intentionally ignoring any reasoning, and anything that says to the contrary (which is like everything) to try and be right... when someone else comes out of no where and see's what I am trying to say right off the bat.

I think you are blinded in your ambition to state that StarCraft is gods gift to man... Which I never denied...

All in all... Blizzard make good games. Regardless if the Barbarians weapons glow or not...
