I think its downright ridiculous to pick apart Diablo III, based on nothing more than a 20 minute gameplay demo and some interviews.

    1. The game isn't anywhere near completion, and before it is completed, you can bet that there will be changes to what we've alreadly seen.

    2. How can we judge a game by watching it? We haven't played it - we have no idea what the gameplay is like in our hands.

    3. Blizzard has taken all these years to assure a successful art style, and all we can say to that is. "BOO!"? That is so disrespectful it almost makes me sick. How many hours did you put into Diablo I? How many into Diablo II? Let me guess, the hours you put into Diablo II are substantially more - and guess what - the artwork is COLORFUL. Diablo III actually has detail now - not just a spamming of bright colors such as Diablo II. And if you paid attention to one of the latest interviews with Jay Wilson - he says that the footage in the gameplay trailer is probably the most "cheerful" environments you'll see in Diablo III. Things will get darker as Hell invades, don't worry.

    4. Health Globes. Okay, I admit, when I first learned about these, I was a little pissed off, but after hearing how the Diablo team wants to use them to create more challenge and eliminate potion spamming, I was all for it. Do you seriously want to sit at the front of a mob spamming potions until the mob is dead while you are still standing in the same spot? That's not fun - especially when Havok physics are involved. You're going to want to run around and smash enemies into all possible areas and obstacles of the map, and in order to do that, you need to move. And while health orbs promote movement, I have a feeling that it will be a lot more fun than chugging potions in an idle position. Don't bash it until you try it.

    QFT...

Basically the same stuff I (and many others) have been trying to point out in all the rediculous claims... You're allowed to disagree... but the people that do, more often than not, do not do so in a constructive manor... they insult people, they state their reasoning on faulty ideals "this is like wow", "you don't need to differentiate every enemy from the background" and they almost never engage in logical/rational arguments....

Then when they are defeated by logic they use the "I'm entitled to my own opinion" (when in fact they usually have't stated an opinion) or "you are just a blizz fan boi" or "I'm allowed to criticize, not everyone is bias towards blizzard..." (when in fact they are the ones biased for whatever they are arguing.
Like they try to take the debatting high ground when in fact they are on the low ground as all of their excuses are a bunch of hypocrasy and they still haven't offered any constructive criticism...

First off, would Blizzard be childish enough to take us off their homepage because a few of the members didn't like certain parts of Diablo III?

I agree, and ironically... and well fittingly, it's childish to assume Blizzard would do this. I could understand why they would take it off because of this sites flaws... I mean there are people spouting hyperbole bias, and stating opinions as fact, and all sorts of illogical/ignorant nonsense. I barely even glance at some of the new threads now because it's always the same misinformed assumptions or horrible bias, childish behaviour...

I mean these are the same sort of people that think Blizzard would remove this website "because they don't like people who don't like diablo 3"... It has nothing to do with opinion and everything to do with attitude.

posted a message on No LAN, first clue for Pay2Play?
I can't see Diablo supporting a "pay to play" system and succeeding... all it will do is shrink the online community. It doesn't have the grind factor of WoW, it is the sort of game you are more likely to play occasionally than non stop (although people still will >.<). It won't be in depth enough to warrant paying... unless it is... but then it won't be a diablo game and people will just hate it for that.

I love the Diablo series and I expect Diablo 3 to be "the best thing evar"... And I expect it to be my obsession that "destroys" wow... But I will not be paying to play online. I will most likely just play single player if that was the case... and if that is the case then I can't really see why you'd buy the game because theres ways around copy protection for almost any/every single player type game...

So in a way, it is in their best interests to NOT make it pay to play. Maybe they'll make slightly more money in total... but I think they will lose out on overall sales, and the online community will be much smaller.

Another thing... with such a big freaking cash cow as WoW you don't really need to milk it from diablo as well...

    MAN dungeon seige was boring....

It was like the same crap over and over, a gradual leveling grind resembling that of an MMO... I mean it was exciting/fun early on but as it went on playing it felt like a chore.

I think runewords where F***ING great. They only became a problem when people started duping. I think if they solve the duping problem it would be a LOT better than just removing runewords.
    The system was fundamentally flawed..

Pre 1.10 - Either useless, or average... but cost to much in rune rarity.
Post 1.10 - Everything cost lots of super rare runes that were just random drops and made too many stupidly over powered items...

There was rarely any middle ground, except with Shael + Eth in a sheild and Ort + Sol (for newbies/poor people) in a helm.

It's a good thing imo, and I'm excited at the prospect of the new rune system

    Wow very nice article...

I like the sounds of how they are doing something new with runes... Hopefully Gems will be a little more in depth, like the "gem synergy" idea I posted a while back... rather than just "+X stat"

I'm liking the sound of how they're planning on doing fights, he's so right in that D2 was either extremely difficult, or extremely easy. The changes look positive... can't wait for Blizzcon.

    Oooo lots of yummy info.

Happy with how they are approaching death... he is so right in the fact that death itself and the time wasting involved is a punishment... losing experience was just stupid and the massive gold loss was painful also. But then D2's gold was pretty stupid anyway.

He said "making the mercenaries more interesting" I wonder if that means they will all have powerful special abilities (like act 2 NM mercs) but maybe not use as much gear and become tanks.

My idea/suggestion is to do with trading. Personally the idea isn't very original as it basically involves taking the item link system directly from wow.
I still play Diablo 2 and the one thing that continually frustrates me is that you are basically expected to know the entire item database off by heart as you cannot link items, or inspect people to see what they are wearing, in other words you can only show other people either your gear or what you have to trade by opening trade with someone. The ability to link items in chat, or at least directly to a person through whispers would greatly help. Particularly with the nature of Diablo's items usually having multiple random modifiers that means one Buriza is not as good as another.
So my suggestion is to allow the use of item links, whether through any conversation or through whispers, or any other method.

Also, what's up with the terrible english from that german dude?
Haha... I have to admit it did bring a smile to my face... especially when he slipped German words into otherwise English sentences. As a semi German speaker myself I know how he feels and how that works >.<
But l they are in Germany... he is from a german gaming magazine, obviously German is his main language, and tbh I'm surprised they did the interview in English at all. Expecting the interview to be in full, perfect English under those circumstances would be a bit ignorant.

It does? Oh wait, you mean that "you need to be able to tell everything apart in a split second" dumb shit of an excuse? lolzorz.
So your reasoning for this excuse not qualifying as a good excuse is because your judgement, from a 20 min scripted gameplay video, is greater than that of a team of game designers who MADE the game, and have experienced it both ways?
If you seriously think you know more about how the game works than a bunch of successful professionals who MADE this very game and have seen more of it than anyone will until it is completed.... Then you are severely deluded.

When will Jay starts treating the fanbase with some little respect instead of treating them as if they are morons with a 50 IQ. (wich many aswell be, lets hope "its the minority", right. RITE?)
Clearly you are biased towards your artistic views because if you heard anything he said then you would know he is treating the fan base with great respect.... the fact they are actually darkening area's and making them more grittier at all, leaving the corpses around longer etc...

Maybe you could post some constructive arguments, or voice un biased, educated opinions...? but then I suspect that's too much to expect from the average forum poster.

Thanks for that video, that had new info and was extremely informative.

Loving the delay of disappearing corpses, even though this confirms I will need a new PC, loving pretty much everything that was mentioned.

Also I'm loving how everyone arguing about the colour/petition etc. were like "we need to get some of the blizzard north guys on to fix the art" and he basically said the main guy in charge of the overall look from the game is from Blizzard North >.<...
I'm glad they aren't drastically changing it and just excited at what we can expect from new zones/dungeons in the future.
