Items on Ebay and Items selling websites = Bots in the game, a lot = BAD

I won't buy D3 unless I'm sure they got the problems of duping, hacking, and ebaying under control. The D2 economy is unacceptable to me. I'd even prefer the ultimate solution of making all items soulbound if there is no other way. We pay a monthly fee for WoW in large part to police the economy. If there's is no monthly fee, they may have to just remove the Diablo economy in total. I'd be fine with that.

The Diablo I loot system was garbage. With hacks / bots / dupes everyone had ridiculous gear and the game wasn't even playable in multiplayer.

They made some crappy vague promises that Diablo II's economy would be different. But it wasn't at all. They had hacks, bots, and dupes on the closed realms that ruined those economies as well. You couldn't trust trading for any gear you wanted because it was probably a dupe and would vanish after a while when Blizz did its dupe scan.

And here they are again with vague crappy promises that "hey! this time it will be different!" Its still on BNET. I'm not buying this game unless I hear SPECIFICS about how they are FIXING the Diablo series so the economy isn't broken. Individualized loot doesn't tell me anything. For all I know the items can still be duped and traded around.

Personally I'd pay the monthly fee if they get this thing OFF BNET and host the games on their own servers if it gives us a clean economy. That was the POINT of what they did with WoW in the first place. That FIXED the problem D2 had. And now they are going back to BNET? Ridiculous.

D2 was plagued by a totally hacked economy because it was on BNET. Everyone had the best gear because of hacks, bots, and dupes. That was fine before World of Warcraft but if given a choice between WoW's clean economy and a hacked D3 BNET economy, there's no doubt I'm choosing WoW.

What will you do differently to ensure that the D3 economy is not wrecked? I will NOT buy this game if you cannot guarantee a clean economy.
