And Steak, have you seen the images being posted ad nauseum around the forums? Almost B&W. That's where I got that from.
But it's all good. A lot of people are viewing it differently, as you would expect, so I can only hope Blizz will address it with caution, and not a knee jerk reaction to the most vocally opposed out there.
I often wonder how things would go if Blizz had said, "ok Diablo community...we're going to create D3. Tell us what you want and we'll make it".
There would be thousands of different views on colour/themes/modelling/lighting and the list goes on. To the point where I see the Dev's heads resembling something along the lines of the lie detector connected to Homer Simpson. Whan asked, "Do you understand?" "Yes......." Dev's head explodes!
Thanks guys, I needed that. I was really feeling like I was all alone there for a bit.
As Van's stated, it's early days yet. Perhaps a compromise of dark and colour depending on the area would be the way to go. Or a progressions into darkness and the game goes on? To keep everyone happy. (as much as is possible anyway)
Anyways, I'm just glad others see it as I see it. And that it's a huge plus that Blizz developed it after all, and at last, to support the fans.
Please someone tell me I'm not the only one so happy with the announcement of D3, that they're not stressing about something that, to me, appears to be a fantastic and natural progression to the game/series.
From what I've seen thus far the concept and work done, to me, are amazing.
Now, I understand changes could, and in all probability will be made, but seriously, some people seem to be suggesting virtually black and white?! We live in a colour age, and being able to incorporate that into a dark game can't be easy. I love the graphics, and the magic effects are just that, magic. Colour should be there and in spades I believe. I was even going to FINALLY upgrade my PC, so that I could bask in all it's glory. Now, I'm going to hold off because, if the naysayers in the community get ther way, it won't be worth it.
Personally I think they've done a fantastic job, and if I could lash out right now and buy it, I'd do so. With some of the suggestions being made, I wouldn't even bother. A sad day for someone who bought the first Diablo on release day, like many of us here I'm sure.
So Blizz, please, make changes if you must to allay the masses, but puhlease, don't turn it black and white, or drain it of colour. I'm begging you!

*shrugs* I guess grandpa will enjoy it then.....
I love it as is.
Darken it ever so slightly if you desire, but can that be done more so with light effect as opposed to colour? If you know what i mean?
