If you re-read what I wrote, I didn't say anything about increased magic find %, but simply stated you'll get more drops TOTAL, spread among four people, instead of one person doing magic find runs, like we did in diablo 2.Quote from Jackzor
Also, magic find (last we heard) only applies to the person who has the magic find item/skill/etc. Not to mention that the names of some of the followers skills seems to imply they will boost your MF as well.

Oh yea. What probably excites me most about it is the fact that the Followers are part of the same "caravan" that the Artisans are. I can't wait to see what other people you'll have travelling from town to town with you.Quote from CherubDown
I don't know about you guys, but I love this!!! This has got to be one of the best day for Diablo since Blizzcon!

No, they said they started company-wide testing. That does not mean a beta stage.
The fact of the matter is that, if to you a "beta announcement" means them telling us that there will be a beta, then the beta announcement was ages ago. And didn't they say they wanted the beta to last around 6 months? And their language is unmistakeable: "we're still hoping for a 2011 release"; "still pushing for 2011"; etc, etc. Very vague, very "hopeful".
All this combined?
2012. Sad but true.
This is just speculation.
Blizzard would not be doing any "vague or hopeful speculation" when talking to investors, they are serious about their estimations. Furthermore, Blizzard does not want to release any game after Christmas. Doing so would be bad business for any company.
For once in your life people, believe what blizzard says, ffs. -

My last post makes me sound like a beotch. :/
The art pieces in particular. It's an unneeded stamp of ownership in my opinion.
Personally, I don't like watermarks on images, but it's a needed evil. I have to watermark mine too. The reason is that some websites link directly to the image without properly linking to the source. And the top reason, forums from all around the world might link to the image directly and not even provide a source link -- this is wasted bandwidth. Some of the images are over 1MB. The first high resolution images given to fansites were over 3MB.
Now take in mind a single forum can have thousands of views of the same page, over and over as people read and post and reply. Take in mind also when people reply, they get quoted -- where the image is duplicated. If you read 20 pages in a single thread, and each page has several quotes displaying a copy of the image -- now we are talking about a ridiculous amount of Megabytes of bandwith spent just because the person embedded the image itself into the forum, instead of providing a link to the source.
Multiply all that by many forums worldwide -- then we have a website out of bandwith and not a single person even knows what's the URL of the source. Bad mojo. The watermark at least lets people know the name of the website, and if they are curious they might type it and visit the source page and bookmark it to be a place to visit often. Happy ending. =)
Oh wait, now you have new posters joining the community! That's the purpose of the watermark. A necessary evil. -

Dolaiim posted a message on T-Minus 30 minutes and CountingStarting at today's date, take the time (in days) you consider "reasonable" to arrive at Beta start, and multiply that by 2. Subtract 5days. Take that number and multiply it by sqrt(3.5), and the resulting number will be the number of days, from today, that Beta will be announced.Posted in: Trash Can
This is formula is based on blizzmathTM, and is considered very basic. In fact, it was derived by one of their "ponderance monkeys," more commonly known as "project managers."
If you got a negative number, you're doing it wrong.
Beta start date is determined by throwing 17 pounds of sticks into a wood chipper, counting the pieces of chipped wood that emerge (neglecting wood chips that become hopelessly lodged in the grass and/or mud), and adding that to the first day of the preceding month.
Simple. Elegant. Blizzard.
Edit: Added TM to blizzmath(TM). Don't wanna get sued here, I have enough problems as it is. -

Why all the hatred people?
Hatred? Hardly. If you wrote a paper for a professional organization, quoting someone else's material and then offering a citation at the end and passing it off as presentable work, you'd be laughed off the face of the earth and your reputation would be soiled. Not to mention you would be attempting to cash in on someone else's work without doing anything yourself.
And maybe he doesn't have the time to write his own articles (which is time consuming)
It is time-consuming. And it's a lot of work and research. That is precisely why this shouldn't be okay. If he doesn't have the time to commit to his own website, he shouldn't have it in the first place imo.
The link is barely noticeable. By the time a reader gets what he wants out of it, he doesn't need to go to the source. We're losing web traffic by him doing this, if anything.
Before you say it, yes, a reader could go, "Oh, look at this tiny link! They wrote this article? Wonder what else they have!" But if he's just posting all our articles verbatim, there's no such need.
I don't mean to come off mean or anything, but this is the kind of thing my field deals with on a regular basis, and it's my opinion that this is not only juvenile, but wrong and disrespectful to those that put their effort into the articles copied. Even if a miniscule citation is offered at the very bottom of the copied material.
Just saying.
Edit--------------
Strange how at the beginning of the thread I almost didn't care, but upon further rumination I find this whole scenario to be abominable. -

Winged posted a message on Why D3 Engine is already out-datedPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from ScyberDragon
I didn't bother to read the rest of the "graphics sux" bcause your first statement is already incorrect. When the game was first being made it used a different engine. Then when the project was restarted they used the havok engine. Since then, they created their own engine to get even better quality. If you are going to start another one of these threads, at least get the info correct instead of trying to make it seem worse then it actually is.
You always beat me to the punch Scyber.. Come'on man .
Quote taken form Diablo 3 Wiki.
"The proprietary engine will incorporate Blizzard's custom in-house physics, a change from the original usage of Havok's physics engine,[9] and feature destructible environments with an in-game damage effect. The developers are aiming to make the game run on a wide range of systems, and have stated that DirectX 10 will not be required.[8] Diablo III will use a custom 3D game engine[10] in order to present an overhead view to the player, in a somewhat similar way to the isometric view used in previous games in the series.[8] Enemies will utilize the 3D environment as well, in ways such as crawling up the side of a wall from the depths into the combat area.[5]"
That picture is truly is worth 1000 words in this thread. It looks outstanding, even in the state of completion the game was in back than.
Quote from Nekrodrac
I think consequences will be dire if the game comes in 2012. I mean by then you will have swarmed the forums with countless threads of why D3 is great but will suck.As for Blizzard, I think they may not be too worried. But who knows, you might be on to something.Quote from zerg4hireWhat kind of consequences will they be facing if they delayed another year? to 2012 ?
Chances are the game will come out Q1-Q2 2012.. Will it make a difference? No.. While it's true that technology moves quickly, as known since Moore's Law; that doesn't directly correlate to graphics as you always rest your opinion on. Take Crysis for example, came out November 16, 2007 and is still the standard for hyper realism. -
