Hello! I've made a few modifications to the Hell Unleashed mod to make it a single-play style mod (meaning that if you clear each map you should be at a high enough level to move to the next map - e.g. if you clear the Den of Evil you should be ready to take on Cave Lv1, if you clear Cold Plains, you should be ready to take on Blood Raven).
I just finished play-testing it on TCP/IP multiplayer (solo) for about two hours, and (from a new character) reached level 14 by the time I was to Blood Raven. I had one set item, one unique, a few charms, and 500k gold (everything is expensive in the mod). As expected, Blood Raven kicked my ass solo.
I'm looking for 3-7 people who are interested in doing a play-through with me from scratch. Depending on how things go with several players, we might end our first session at Blood Raven, or try to get halfway through Act 1.
For those who haven't heard of it, Hell Unleashed is a mod that focuses on rehauling the game to make it more like a dungeon crawl than a hack & slash with farming. There are no town portals, the maps are huge, special monster types (champions, uniques) and strategic monster groups are used, and new bosses, items, and runewords have been added. Your stash and inventory are enlarged, and you start with an enlarged cube.
I've only gotten as far as Blood Raven, so playing the mod will be like playing a new game. If you're looking for something like D2 but don't just want to replay the original and don't want to grind for hours, my mod of HU is the mod for you!
Exact installation instructions will be provided (using D2SE). You don't need to worry about mod management or files being overwritten. The mod will install all needed files to a new sub-directory in your D2 folder.
