posted a message on Let the Wizard have mana
Well they did say they were playing around with the idea of the Wizard having Mana. It was when they were talking about how they weren't liking Arcane Power too much. Like Scyber said I don't like the WD's resource being tied to HP though. Especially since getting HP back will probably end up being considerably harder, or at least you won't be able to do it on command, with Health Globes. Not to mention you'd get incredibly screwed whenever you were low on HP and resource.

Well it sounds more like you'll just have him following you, and I hope to god those kinds of questgivers can't die. When I heard it, I thought he was talking about something like the quest shown at Blizzcon, where the guy tells you whats up and asks you to kill some cultists, but its not like he was in danger of dying.

Well she uses bows and ranged weapons too, so it could be something she uses to keep distance between herself and any monsters.

Yea I was only really expecting the full trailer anyways. There was still enough new stuff and the fact that it was all continuous was pretty nice imo. The helicopter getting taken out by a building was insane.

posted a message on What will the beta BE?
    Quote from FingolfinGR

All i'm saying is that there's no point for a 5-6 month long beta unless we get THE GAME to test.
PvP is not something they want to balance too much. They said so. Which leaves the PvE content. 6 months beta to test 2 acts is overkill, don't you think?

That's what's pretty obvious, not the possibility of spoilers (that can be easily avoided by placeholder models and removed quest texts).
Well we know that the beta will start 6 months before release, but not that it will be live the whole time. Just like in the SC2 beta, they took some months off. And they've gone way out of their way to not say anything about the lore, so I don't see why they'd ruin parts of the game for people. I mean, every time somebody says 'When you kill Diablo' they say 'We haven't confirmed Diablo is in the game yet.' Obviously that specific example could be hidden by placeholders, but if you're venturing into Hell it would be pretty clear that you're at least killing one of the Prime Evils. I think even the areas we go to is something they want to be a surprise, and thats something that would be spoiled by a full beta.

I would bet that the beta is actually live for more like 4 months, with a month long break before release and another month off at some other time. Even if there is very little content, I think they'd favor testers getting bored over spoiling locations, so I would say we would get the first two acts tops. Even that sounds like a bit much.

Yea but its not like they've been advertising a April 15th release all along and then saying thats how it has to happen, its just trying to garner interest in indie games and is pretty optional considering people have been expecting it to be released on the 19th all along. I would say its annoying, but nothing EA-like.

posted a message on Randomized Randomization
Well either way, they want the outdoor maps to be easier to navigate and remember. The only way to do that is to have a small number of random environments or have static areas. And dungeon randomness is obviously awesome, and its easier to make them easy to navigate because theres a smaller, more linear area to move through, so they kept that. You can say that randomly generated outdoors would be better in your opinion, but the justification behind is a good/obvious one so its not like the D3 team is just cutting corners.

Waiting for the ridiculous potato fiasco to pass (disgusting marketting strategy, I swear Valve always finds a way to make me more and more disgusted to them. All companies look like EA now...).

At least, unlike EA, their games are still awesome. Which is why I pre-ordered it anyway. Also, I'm dying for Half-Life 2 Episode 3, and its the closest one can get thats relevant in any way.
How is supporting indie games disgusting? And its not like they're forcing anyone to buy them, its the same thing as the Humble Indie Bundle. I just fail to see how thats anything like EA, or really anything bad at all.

As for Portal 2, I'm definitely looking forward to it. Especially the co-op.
