I wouldn't have noticed much of a difference if i knew this was a much later expansion to World of Warcraft.

I agree. At a quick glance, I would have thought it was taken directly from WoW.

I think that it'll be the map.. When you click on wp, it'll open up this map, and you'll be able to pick the map location aka act, you wish to travel to.

    This map:
    http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/worldmap.xml

Hmmm... perhaps. But I think that those areas will simply correspond to a certain act. Once you're done with Act 1, you travel elsewhere, etc.

I also think they will incorporate more quests than the regular six (or less) we have seen in every Diablo II act.

EDIT: Or maybe you travel to different areas in the same act?

If there were so many botters and cheaters, the Uwe Boll petition to stop making movies would have reached over a million signatures very quickly.

    Trust me.

Well I hope you're right. We all need to remember how much we want this game and how long we've been waiting instead of being nitpicky.

Honestly, to an extent beggers can't be choosers.

Don't you mean consumers? Blizzard makes games for the people and we pay for them.

The game has been scrapped a few times already and has gotten this far, ALL within 4 years. I am sceptical of "stylization", but I imagine it could look great if placed in the right gothic atmosphere. That is all most of us really want anyway.

Of course we wont this is not a change it Blizzard or else petition. All we are trying to do is voice how we would like the game to look and what parts of the the originals we fell in love with.

A lot of us have grew up with these titles and in a world of Androgynous manga heroes and pre pubescent girls waving swords 2 stories high. Is it really wrong to wish for somthing darker, especially when that darkness has defined the mood of the 2 games that make this one possible?.

All we are doing is trying to be heard........

Bear in mind that all the other things that were shown we love from Finnaly fleshing out the lore to all the great new visiral combat to the crazy cool ideas they have for the random encounters.

    Well said... well said :).

For the people wanting to know the difference from the old SC2 to the new:

The Diablo III development team can learn a lot from this guy:
    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31796.html

It is basically a video detailing the gritty StarCraft II art and how it has progressed. Fanbase reaction combined with suggestions allowed them to add a darker and grittier feel to SC2, so if you like the way SC2 looks now, it is all because of fans and their so-called "complaining".

He also mentions how it is important to seperate IPs from eachother, such as StarCraft from WarCraft .

posted a message on NEW art work? Pic of druid?
    Quote from "Tehstickleman" »
Although, I will admit that looks like it would be a druid. They'll probably replace druid with something else like they did with Witch Doctor and Necromancer. My bet on the only returning classes is Barb(Obviously) and Paladin. There will definitely be some sort of Sorcerer and some sort of Bow user but under a different name.

I must agree with this. Although two classes that can summon is not far-fetched at all. In Diablo II you already had the Necromancer and Druid... Replace the Necromancer with the Witch Doctor and you can have the same set-up.

I would like to see the Druid make a return in an inevitable expansion pack, but seeing as how there are only three spots left, I would rather leave them out.

    Witch Doctor
    Barbarian
Paladin (there has to be more than one strict melee fighter)
    Ranged Class
    Sorcerer

I think it's fine if we reach a medium between darkness and color, not just being plain ugly.

That is what a lot of us are trying to do. Except other people don't know how to leave us to it. Instead a lot of them come off with:

    "Shut up noobs."
"Stop your whining and don't buy the game that you've been waiting 8 years for."
"Stop being emo and gothic. Wrist-cutters."
"Try shopping for Cradle of Filth and HIM merchandise, instead."

I don't think anyone has said so far that they want the game to be 100% black and white.

500 signatures? I don't think Blizzards going to change their game for a very vocal minority. If it was thousands maybe, but 500, most likely not.

The petition has only just begun...

I didn't get much of a horror vibe from those dark greens and blues. Nor did I feel emotion and I don't believe it conveyed much of a mood, either.

Guys, i just want you to know, that thanks to your bitching, if they decide to change shit, the game is gonna take longer to develop. I could care less about the gothic darker feel, the gameplay is all that matters..

Is it impossible to have good gameplay and a gothic atmosphere?

If it takes longer, then that means more time to refine and develop the gameplay as well. And it isn't like the game is finished. If they take our suggestions in mind they will incorporate these ideas along the way.

To me, it seems like you dont want Diablo 3, you just want another Diablo 2. I promise you, Blizzard will not let us down. Diablo 3 is going to be amazing, no matter how they implement the things mentioned above.

No. I want Diablo III. And I would like for Blizzard to admire the gothic horror that was presented in the previous Diablo games and to retain it's core design philosophy as a very violent, grim and dark atmosphere. Surely the gameplay may be enjoyable, but the art style is not as reminiscent to Diablo as it is to the stylized Warcraft. Please accept this and how people like me feel about this issue :).
They are not done with the graphics, and im sure they will be more detailed when its released.

Perhaps, but Ron made it firm and clear that he and the team are very satisfied with the current style and color palette. Because of this, these colors and textures may be spread throughout the entire game.

I dont think the health globes are meant to replace potions, you will still need to rely on them. But you will also have the luxary of gathering health globes when you're running low on health.

Understandable, and I am open to new elements such as this. I have no problem with health globes whatsoever.

As for the inventory style, Blizzard has said you will be fighting mobs of monsters unlike anything you've seen in a Diablo game to date, and you will be gathering more items than in previous games. The new inventory system will allow you to carry the items you find, but im sure it wont be unlimited. You will still have to return to town during a dungeon to empty your inventory.

This is acceptable and I must agree to an extent. The problem most people have about this is that it isn't entirely realistic, seeing as how a mere gem or potion can take up the same amount of space as a large axe or item of armor. The previous inventory design promoted a thought process into organization and which item would be needed the most among the slew that were available.

All Im saying is, lets give Blizzard a chance, and when the game is released, (or very close to it) if it still isn't what we want, then lets inform Blizzard. There is no need to make "formal letters" to Blizzard so early in developement. They need a chance to fine tune everything on their own, they are a big company, and very smart. I can guarentee they will not half-ass this game.

You should not complain about what major elements of a game need to be changed once it is near its release (ala art style). For one thing, it is near release. Secondly, the game is most likely to be finished while they add touch-ups and other small changes. The gameplay demo was a bad example and stirred a lot of controversy and hatred towards the new design style. If people like me want it to change, it must be done in early development.

I am not denying the fact that this game has the potential to be incredible and incredibly fun. I am simply saying that the art direction is not what I had expected nor is it very true to the original Diablo. It seems to me that Diablo III is more of a guinea pig in the eyes of the developers, experimenting with new palettes to supposedly convey a much darker mood and emotion. By the looks of things, many can agree that it hasn't worked very well thus far. I, like many others, am simply suggesting as to how this game can be made better to the long-time fans of Diablo and its gothic horror atmosphere.
