With all the digging going around, I'm amazed no one has bothered to look into the images themselves! I figured they might leave some clues in there (Halo 3, anyone?), so opening it with notepad I find it. On the first line.
Ducky, the Purple... Walrus? As far as I know, Dashow has never named anything Ducky, but who knows.
While it might not mean much now, if the announcement at diabloii.net is real, I leave it to you guys to go find who/what Ducky is among all the Blizzard artists. Good luck!
