    Koji Kondo???!!?!!! WTF??!!!

He is a master composer. The Zelda soundtracks are epic and classic. Not epic in the traditional sense like oblivion or KOTOR soundtracks but more in a classic sort of way.

I really don't know much people who appreciate Tristam all that much except Diablo fans. It's not amazing. It's good. Most of other music is pretty meh. I like music out of my fav video games, you like music out of your favorite games because you heard those track 300 times. Nothing wrong with that. :D Please don't bring Hitler in, that's just incredibly dumb.

I don't like it because I've heard it often. I've played many games where I heard certain tracks often and I do not enjoy them at all (ie. guild wars). Tristram is still one of the best video game songs ever composed.. nothing can match the awesome guitar rifts of Uelmann and the dark and pervasive flute in the background.

The only songs that come close to me are Watchmen's Ease from oblivion and Richhouse from NWN.

For me, music can make or break a game. Diablo 1 and 2 soundtracks were SPOT ON, you really have to commend Uelmen for them. He knows how to write this unique, dark music for games. Writing for games is completely different to film or mainstream music; it doesn't really have the emphasis, as it can't be scripted as in film. However, it should compliment the scenery perfectly, and Uelmen done this very well. The timbres were also very specialised and perfect for the setting, the beginning of the Tristram cue; the echoed 12 string guitar... it felt very isolated and personal - just like your current status in Sanctuary.

The Tristram cue in the teaser is lazy, in all respect. It's been developed and anchored around a full orchestra, this doesn't reflect what I'm seeing on the teaser. Except for the scripted boss fight, but this still feels corny to me. The music should be brought back out of the foreground a bit. (The new Tristram cue reminds me of Elfman's Batman 1989 theme... alot... very texture-based.)

There is always the chance that the human race on Sanctuary has reaffirmed and is now a stable, and majestic, community. This is what the current music would suggest to me; the grand brass gestures would be reflecting the progress of the humans.

Here's to hoping for more effective incorperation of darker, more modest music in the future teasers!

    Bring back the Uelman!

    Signed.

Thank you for the well thought out and structured response. I agree 100%. Uelman is just made for Diablo in the same way Jesper Kyd is for Hitman and Jeremy Soule for Elder Scrolls. If you have someone else it just ruins it.

I agree, Tristram wasn't even spectacular though. It was good.

WTF? Please tell me a better videogame track. I woud like to know. Tristram was fucking amazing.

Also to the others that say thats the only good one... what a sad and pathetic opinion.

I'll list some other tracks that are amazing:

    Roger and Me
    Toru
    Coda
    Desert
    Rogue
    Jungle
    Harem
    Icecaves
Outtake1 (Even though it wasn't used and Matt didn't like this track himself)
Docks (This music actually seems really appropriate for a sort of theme music for the witch doctor... very tribal and dark.. seriously epic.)
    Kurast

Those are just some of my favorites. To say tristram is the only good thing Matt Uelmen made is really a sad and disgusting opinion. Yes I know every one has an opinion.. but saying the above is like saying Hitler was a good man... its my opinion so you can't say anything right?

Agreed 100%. Tristram from Diablo 1 was the greatest single video game track of all time. Ion, you don't know what your talking about. Uelmann destroys most all other composers in terms of dark Diablo style music.

The only other great composers are Jeremy Soule (NWN, Oblivion), Koji Kondo (Zelda) and Jesper Kyd (Hitman) the rest are ok but even among this elite group of composers none compare to uelmann in the darkness and epicness of his music.

If Matt Uelman doesn't make a return I'm either not buying D3 or I'm turning off all D3's music and playing D1, D2 music in the background.
