Oh really? And later on in the game, instead of you killing 10 mobs, those 10 mobs will kill YOU. And rape your soul in the process. And then you won't have either potions or health orbs.Quote from "Anzy" »Not really, I mean I saw the wizard kill the 10 monsters around it, out of those ten killed seven droped a orb. To me that doesn't seem realistic. And I didn't know there were pots ingame, thanks for telling me
They said the drop rate will be around 30% for health orbs. Probably as much for mana orbs. -
Feb 9, 2009Dimebog posted a message on Dev Tracker Notes of MeritWouldn't worry about it, since the Barb will likely have the most health and armour (most survivability), he hits hardest, and he has great mobility. Considering that Str will probably make your weapon, that hits for example for 280-355, hit for a few thousands or so. I think that's how much the stats will have an impact now since they are not given away for free, and the distribution can be controlled better across the classes.Posted in: News
Barb will also probably have an ability that incapacitates the oponnent for a while giving him time to charge up rage. This ability could be put on a cooldown that is long enough to not make it abused in PvE, but just perfect to open up a PvP battle. Possibilities are endless, and Blizzard knows all the tricks in the book. -

It doesn't raise that question since the mechanic is already known. Only the visual representation has changed.Quote from "DoranM" »This raises a pretty obvious question if they're pooling from a different source of power, and how it will work, Bashiok answers:
It works as following: you start with 0 fury and it fills up as you hit monsters with your basic attack (not with a special ability). When you have enough fury in your pool, you use special skills and attacks. If you stand around doing nothing, fury slowly dissipates until it's gone.
The reason behind this is to avoid Barbarians constantly spamming the best magical abilities, since the Barbarian shouldn't be a 'magical' class. That way they ensure that you actually use your weapon to hit monsters directly on the head occasionally, and not constantly spamming WW, HoTE, Leap, etc. Balance is the key. Not to mention that this will make things interesting, and tactical. -
Feb 6, 2009Dimebog posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.Posted in: News
No it don't "make u better". If learning how many Str points to put there is going to make you better by allowing you to wear gear, than that's great. Next you can learn how to tie your own shoelaces. On the other hand, you can't learn how to tie your shoelaces by googling for it. And I can already tell you to put 151 Str points so you don't even have to google. Use that information wisely, now you're pro.Quote from "David907" »Thus experience makes u better...
I don't know what that means, but I assume you are implying that you won't be able to choose your stats. And you will be able. All your stats will come from your gear, so you will still be able to customize everything.Quote from "David907" »Choosing ur stats is what made diablo2 diablo 2 Yeah runes will make peoples skills look diffrent but will it really change the way they approach a mob? -

On the contrary, stats will become a real mechanic this time around.Quote from "InstantLite" »Stats has no point than? -
Jan 9, 2009Dimebog posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.D3 will force you to customize your character by making you select gear that grants the stats you need, in the amounts you need. D2 gave you all the stat points for free, which made a select handful of gear the best possible option, and the rest completely useless. On top of that, they had to make stats not so powerful to not cause disbalance when abused (when you misplace your stats in such ways to ruin the basic traits of your class such as strength and endurance). And on top of that, they had to limit you by putting stat requirements on gear. D3 has solved all those problems with the new stat system:Posted in: News
- You will be able to wear any kind of gear you want because stats will not be requisites for wearing gear, it will be the other way around
- You will be forced to combine gear to receive stats instead of going for universal values (+1 to skills, resistances, etc)
- You will have a freedom of changing your playstyle throughout the game and constantly perfect your character to your taste, instead of having to replay the whole game like a retard every time you want to try something new
Bottom line: more depth in customization, more customization overall, more freedom.
I'll use an example from WoW because guessing how things are going to be in D3 is just speculation. As a caster DPS class, I benefit from modifiers such as the crit rating, the hit rating, the haste rating and bonus spellpower (aside from stats such as stamina, inellect and spirit). Blizzard will put spellpower and one or two of the other three modifiers on most endgame items, but never all three. The stats your recieve are also balanced to not overpower potential classes which depend on different things. That means that there are no 'best' items for my class or even my build. If I decide to wear an item that grants only hit rating and spellpower, I will be sacrificing my crit rating and haste rating, but that is a decision I have to make, because unless I have a certain amount of hit rating (which as a weathered player I will calculate beforehand), my build is going to fail big time. That is why I need to decide on which item slots I am willing to go for hit rating gear and and which I will go for crit rating and haste rating, or maybe my talents are built in such way that I do not even have to rely on crit that much which opens up more possibilities. Supporting your build with gear is a very delicate procedure which will easily make or brake your character, or even make your character extraordinary if you have an exquisite grasp of the game mechanics and how your build works. Compared to a system like THAT, D2 'customization' can be considered laughable at best. Even if you are plain enough to break your character by misplacing stats that are given to you as a gift, your character will still operate on some level, so you will still be able to play the game no matter how little effort you put into it, and of course all you need to do is find out which items have the biggest numbers because those are universally the 'best' items.
Bottom line: in D2 all you need to do is read a good tutorial which explains what is the best build for your class. In WoW, and hopefully D3, you will not be able to ever do such a thing, because nothing is given to you for free, and you will have to work your best with whatever you currently have and whichever skills you currently have. And THAT takes skill. Reading guides doesn't take skill. -

You will still know the minimum and maximum damage as well as the intervals, of course - the DPS display doesn't conceal information, it gives you more information in plain sight without having to do the calculations yourself. Besides, all those modifiers you named do not change a weapon's DPS either way so you don't have a point. DPS is physical damage per second. Everything else that goes on top of that are variable elemental bonuses, passive bonuses from other gear, etc. D2 system merely gave you loose descriptions of a weapons speed and min/max damage. There was no way to know the overall effectiveness your weapon has in say, a bossfight, unless you test it yourself with a stopwatch.
More information, combat logs, things like that. More depth to the game. -

Lolwut? Nevermind. Let me enlighten your poor soul.Quote from "Equinox" »Just correcting you since you're in such a hurry to show off how much you (don't) know.
I don't know what is probable or improbable to you, but Jay Wilson personally stated that most of A1 is done art-wise, and the programming team is still working on the mechanics, and recently the art team has moved on to A2. They said that they will be making the acts linearly in such exact fashion as I described, and on the way, constantly go back to polish, iterate or completely rehash previous material if they find it short of perfection.Quote from "Equinox" »That's highly improbable due to the nature of a development cycle.
The dungeon seen in the most recent gameplay trailer is the very first dungeon from Act1. The dungeon seen in the first gameplay trailer is the Tristram Cathedral dungeon also from Act1. It is confirmed that it is that exact tileset as well as monsters and only the entrance area is hand-crafted and may not feature in the final version of how ever that Act1 dungeon turns out in the end.Quote from "Equinox" »It's not from anywhere. It may use certain doodads that will be in the first act, but actually it was specifically made for the gameplay trailer. -

- No, they only started working on Act 2 recently. They haven't been working on other acts at all.Quote from name="unwritten law" »if act 1 itself isn't done, i wonder how much of the rest of the game is completed. i'm guessing there's 4-5 acts like d2 (maybe more?) and if act 1 isn't done yet....
i'm assuming the dungeon from the gameplay video is actually from act 2 (the one with the water falling off the sides of the platform and the greenish lighting) since it looks very similar to caldeum's concepts, assuming caldeum is act 2 anyways. probably all the "basics" of the game are done and now they have to makes some tweaks, balances, add some script and details.... this is gona be a while.
- There are 4 acts.
- The dungeon is from the first act.

We have founded this site in order to celebrate our past but also discover modern games which uphold traditional gaming values. A couple of us founding members have been playing games by Blizzard Entertainment since the days of Warcraft 2, Diablo 1&2, Starcraft, and have been part of the Battle.Net community since its beginning. Other founding members are DotA veterans or personal friends who started gaming together when DotA 2 Closed Beta became available to us.
The clan is currently centered around a national DotA 2 team but we want to expand and make it an international community with its main focus on Diablo 3. We want to be ready for when RoS introduces clan support, ladders and PvP as a couple of us are very passionate about this game and we want to be able to organize fun events, leagues and tournaments like we used to do back in Diablo 2.
We welcome all like-minded people to join us now and help create what we hope will flourish into a rich community by the time RoS is released!

The point of this build is to be extremely mobile as a Barbarian with some added survivability. Wrath of the Berserker and passives selected for more flat crit rate, hopefully to be able to use Overpower as often as possible for the 7% life steal.

If they want to promote playing and make it more rewarding (and then also exciting) by making the players experience content to get more gear rather than sit and trade, maybe that's actually not that bad...
It's simple as this: you get one end-game item and decide whether to equip it and use it or use it for trading purposes. You are not a child, you know exactly what your decision means. You decide to equip it, and then you find yourself without something that could otherwise be a trading good. What you do next is go and play the game more to try and get that item again. YOU GO AND PLAY THE GAME MORE DAMN IT. You don't just trade, trade, trade endlessly. Considering that you only need a very small and finite number of items on you, through your entire gameplaying span, you might actually keep about 20-50 end-game items you find (not trade for, find) and the rest you simply trade away. Once you get what you need, nothing is stopping you from trading the things you accumulate past that point.
But I can see how hard this can be to understand. It's so complicated, right?

It's been said by Blizzard that the monk is basically based on the orthodox archetype of a monk mixed with the Asian doctrine. A Slavic dude/girl who went to the East to school himself (herself).
Two words.
Anal beads.

I think this is pretty fair. If your LAN party has a single computer with internet connection, you're set. You just share the connection to boot up the games and then LAN it up.
P.S. I don't care about LAN.
