Who says it would strain your graphics card? That's the stupidest argument ever.

Bottom line is that with 8 people spamming everything they got, you won't see shit. You don't know what you are doing and what you are doing has no purpose.

Nothing that had any meaning in D2 was not played by more than 4-5 people.

Think about it this way: if you want to do a 'full' game on a boss for the maximum loot, you need to host a game and wait for SEVEN people to join. With a four-player limit, once you host a game, you are only three people away from a full game, and all the benefits that brings.

If you can't do the math: playing solo means having a 1/4 penalty, instead of the 1/8 penalty. Alright?

Also. The four player limit was for Blizzcon purposes only. They never said anything about making a decision so early in the development. The only thing they DID say repeatedly, is that the game currently works the best with five people. Five.

This thread makes me cringe on every level.

Yeah Blizzard is just looking for an easy way out. I mean, if they were serious, they would definitely be able to balance 8 Wizards in a single game multiplying themselves into 5 another.

Because 40 wizards = tactical play.

And because the only thing in D2 that was done by anything near 8 people were Baal runs. That was so much fun, right.

I laughed when he said "My LAN parties would never be the same otherwise..."

They haven't decided on the player cap, the last they said is that the game works best with five people but are looking into increasing that.

However, they confirmed that it won't have LAN support.

posted a message on Blizzard is raising the "bar" for videogames.
I was rated as number one geared character on the server for a couple of days, and I only play about four days a week.

And raids do not take 4+ hours. Get yourself a guild that has flexible schedules and raids up to three hours a day and up to three days a week and that's it. It's not how the game is organized, it's how your guild is organized.

But there is a chance that a WWI will be held later this year, after Blizzcon.

    I wouldn't rule that out.

Well that was said a long time ago. I am sure the 4th class is done by now. i believe jay said that back in nov 08. Several months has passed and i am sure they have been working a little bit since then.
It was actually repeated by Bashiok relatively recently.

the beta will only have like 2 classes. so since 2 classes are finished, maybe the beta will be almost finished....but yeah, the info updates are takin a long time...i wanna know why...rofl
The beta will have 2 classes? The purpose of a beta is to test something that is meant to be a final build so that they can iron out the odd ends and release the thing. Giving out bits of a game to anxious fans is: a) not a beta; B) not something that any company (especially Blizzard) ever does.

I hope soon doesn't mean a reveal in Blizzcon or a new type of monster. We need a gameplay video. If starcraft get battle reports then I think we deserve something similar.
It's not about deserving gameplay videos. They said they don't have anymore areas in the game that are polished enough to be showed in a video, and that is why they keep showing that one dungeon. But everyone assumes that they are just selfish and want to keep everything else to themselves. Snap out of it, they don't have anything else for showing.

Besides, SC2 is basically a finished game (first Episode was practically wrapped up last year), they are just balancing it and waiting to release it.

EDIT: P.S. When bashiok said "soon", he was joking, because the user supposedly did the job for him so that he doesn't have to say "soon".

Iron Maiden spell in A4 Hell was not nasty. It was beyond nasty. It was obviously buggy, or people who were in charge of balancing the game were eating some mushrooms.

    U herd rong.

Fourth class is in the first testing phases (without it's own model or spell effets) and the fifth class is still on paper.

posted a message on PvP Players
Let me just dispel the rumour about the 4-player cap. The one and only time that this was said, was by Jay Wilson, on the last Blizzcon and I am 90% sure that it was in relation to the Blizzcon build. He said that they are allowing 4 players per game. I remember watching the live stream of one of the press conferences (most likely) where he said that, and at the time, I understood that it relates to what people on Blizzcon are experiencing (since it was all novel and whatnot because it was the first time to be played publicly).

In the following week, diii.net published an article saying that someone interviewed Jay Wilson and that he said that they thing the game currently works the best with five players, but that they are looking into raising the cap (to up to eight). However, the news article didn't provide a link to the actual source, so it might have been a deliberate reinterpretation of a really old interview, for the sake of posting something exclusive.

Either way, the talks about the 4-player cap are neither officially confirmed, or likely to be the case. If anything, it is too early to decide something like that considering that they are not exactly far into the production, and that they haven't yet decided much less essential things (on the latest Blizzcast a week ago or so, Jay was not even sure if there will be 'enterable buildings in towns' and let alone something as important as a player-per-game cap).

posted a message on Diablo 3 music by eminence
The latest WoW expansion has some of the best music I ever heard in any game, but I'm afraid none of that would fit D3 by a long shot. Luckily, they seem to be trying really hard to reference the Tristram theme in the new music (the progression that reoccurs in every single D2 and D3 track heard so far minus most of A5 music). And I was also impressed by the minimalistic atmosphere track heard in the dungeon for a while. I suppose most of the interior music in the actual game will be in that style (like the music from the Tristram page on the D3 site).

Except that each Blizzard team works on a separate game so D3 team working on D3 has nothing to do with them delaying WoW expansions. They just always take way too long with all of their games.

And no, D3 won't be released before SC2, and that was officially confirmed. In fact, it was confirmed that it won't be released this year, and I can't think of another big reason for a Blizzcon this August except announcing the release date for SC2 (later this year). It adds up. In another interview they said that hey are shooting for one big release a year for the following few years, so hope that 2010 is the year of Diablo 3, so to say.

Just because they have not announced the classes doesnt mean they are not done at all... In fact they have said multiple times that the other classes are done and they are just tweaking everything.
    Lies.

The last they said, is that fourth class exists in the game, but doesn't have it's own model or visual effects.

The fifth class is only on paper.
