yeah aww d2 had it so good.. mana! mana leech yeah right.Quote from "Slippy" »aww man.. fury and cool downs? sounds just like WoW.. idk what to think about this.. i'm afraid that it's not even gonna feel like a diablo game.. that news was just heartbreaking or maybe that news has been out, idk, either way i'm
there was cooldowns in d2 also (after LOD came the cast delays == cooldowns) -

May 12, 2009akse posted a message on Bashiok on "Skill Trees" in Diablo 3.Posted in: News
Well I think we will still focus on some tree. If we want like Whirlwind to be our main skill, there will be other skills in that tree that will boost Whirlwinds effectiveness. This way we will focus a bit more on one tree.Dont know what I should think about the removal of differentiated skill trees, tbh it probably shouldnt matter that much. It makes each class play a bit more like one class, rather than 3 main specs, which is both good and bad.
But this is also a huge help for balancing the different trees. Now we have access to utility and damage mitigation in other trees and as bashiok said they don't have to put these skills in every tree now that you can just hop to another tree and pick the skills that you like from there.
Everything is still a placeholder out there.. they will change as it has been said by bashiok.Although ... when it comes to a simple visual aspect choice like a quest indicator icon and such things, i guess saying "its from WoW" somehow still is a valid argument on its own.
Why? I dont exactly know, but seriously, taking basically icons out of another game just doesnt sound right (unless the same series) if you get what i mean.

May 12, 2009akse posted a message on Bashiok on "Skill Trees" in Diablo 3.This really sounds good.. especially for the passives and utility skills. And this way you can pick your favourite skills like whirlwind and shockwave and completely leave out those others you don't want to use. If you were pretty much forced to 1 tree only you would probably pick all the skills in that tree because you would have to spend the points somewhere in that tree.Posted in: News
With this new system we will have so many options because we can choose from 3 trees so even the 1 point you are going to put to every skill can make a big effect on your character. If you put shockwave and whirlwind for example and take 1 point for all the other skills you will spend quite many points to all skills. Instead you could pick leap and cleave along with shockwave and whirlwind and save rest of the points and use them to improve your character with passive or utility skills.
Whats the big deal if the low tier skills are so good that you will gladly spend some points to those? I would hate to spend 1 point only for a crappy skill that doesn't do much good just to get higher tier skills. Most of the low tier skills are probably some basic killing skills and passive damage boosting skills. For example why would anyone leave out damage mitigation or damage boosting skill from the very first tier?Is this the answer for players not using all skills ? If so It's a bad one, only means i will have to waste more skill point, If I am going to use something I am going to max it out or get as close to it as possible...
You have 3 trees imagine all the options for those 5 points you need to pick from 3 trees. If tier 1 has like 2-3 skills for each tree that is 6-9 skills where you have to spend 5 points.. are you sure there isn't anything that you wouldn't want to spend those 4 extra points instead of only 1?
edit. ps. go play diablo 2 if your dream is that old crappy skill system. -

woot? sorcs used to be really great even before synergies.. bone necs were a bit weak but they were still strong in pvp.. javazons were powerful. Hammerdins didn't work in LOD iirc but in Classic they were the strongest option for a paladin.but theres nothing wrong with synergies
they just made spellcasters useful =3
spell casters used to suck really badly before them and there werent as many build options
There was more build options than now.. with synergies yes you have to put so many points to useless skills, just to make your main skill powerful enough to kill someting in Hell.
Back then you could make dual and tri tree sorcs easily and they were quite powerful in Hell, nowadays you need to have kickass gear to make dual tree work good in hell. Also many other paladin builds than hammerdin were really good (zeal, vengeance etc) -

According to the skill page it reduces fury cost to 0.0, thats the highest level right (highest rune?)?
Should make me feel like in the old times whirling around!

So far this news sounds really good.

I hope D3 is different and farming items is harder.. one should be doing something meaningful and while doing it one could find valuable items. Not like in D2 that you just farm items without doing anything really meaningful like random quests or dungeons.

Also in D2 your character was pretty much done when u hit 80.. it could do almost anything already.

Then you also have like 6 hotbar skills, idk feels a bit small, maybe it was an early build, maybe the will add more.

I supppose this kind of thing wouldn't work in D3.. but there really should be some kind of endgame dungeon where you have 10 levels or something.. to get next level you would have to kill most of the monsters and unlock some things.. At the last levels there would be really tough monsters and good rewards. This kind of thing could make endgame more interesting.
