I would like to see a method in which lower level characters can be taken through some of the more tedious and boring low level play in the very least.

By just making the game fun in general? Nothing in d3 should be boring..

Thats why every dungeon, field, quest should be challenging, life threatening, and rewarding (items, xp, money), etc.

posted a message on Skill Allocation: How will it work?
    Quote from "Equinox" »
I'd prefer less skills than Diablo II had, but have them more value. Glacial spike and ice bolt can easily be merged into one skill. Allow partial synergies but make them more broad and complex so that it doesn't result in 3 skills being maxed because they synergize each other. Skill improvements should be more exponential depeding on their level so low level skills do not become totally useless.

I agree. But, I think that all skills should be acquirable all at once, with the ultimates being acquired at the end. Kind of like WC3. So each skill, like you said, moves up exponentially equally.

Having experienced all of Blizzard games, I know I'm going to be looking forward to another long long wait.

Someone said that most blizzard games are released 8-12 months after announcement.

I never liked how people did runs and rushed through D2/LOD. It cheapened the game and made it seem like a chore. It made me think, "what's the point?". Plus it looked like no one was having fun, they just "had to do it" to power level, and for what? To keep leveling?

And similarly, power-leveling was just wrong. Why not go through each cave and area with buddies and really level up the real way? Not cheat and get help so you can leach.

To rectify this, blizz needs to introduce better quests, more quests, char specific quests (as they are), and randomized quests.

I have faith in them that they don't want their game cheapened and routinized like D2.

    Wouldn't expect a release before 2010.

    Why is that?

are you hinting?? are you saying you know what's done and what isn't? i like you think it will be out sooner but my expectation is alot sooner then yours, month's not a year or more.

Well even better. And I agree with you too, especially considering how all these gamesites are giving release dates of 150 days.

Watch the gameplay vid again..they say that only the first act is ready..

Kieran, thanks for the nice description. :)

only the first act is ready. The other acts are probably partially finished.

Like everyone said, they've been working on this for a while and it looks late in development.

Blizzard may be downplaying their progress just to be safe. I actually think these gaming websites are more or less right.

D3 will be here in a year, 1.5 years max.

Maybe blizzard can add value to gold by giving gold other uses?

Maybe add more RPG elements. For ex, when traveling, maybe your char will need rest or food on the way, so you have to pay for meals and lodging.

Or make it so you need food in general when youre out in the open so you have to buy these in town.

Watching the gameplay video, I had the idea that:

-> graphics are complete (despite of the ""art direction"" ...)
-> chars are *not* completely done: only few skills, which are not even completed. The other chars are missing.
-> story is not complete, listening to the panel about world and art
-> acts are not done... more important, how many acts there will be? are they 2, 3, or 5? if so the time required is much more.

The other chars aren't missing. They said they are playable back at blizzard HQ. Of course not finished. The story not being complete kind of blows my theory out of the water but I don't know, maybe they have sufficient manpower??

I honestly think that Blizzard is exaggerating their development progress (in terms of what stage they are in).

They have act 1 done, they have 2 chars completely done, with the other 3 partially worked on. They have the engine down and the art direction (sshh). They have the story down.

All that needs to be done now is finishing the acts, finishing 3 chars, finishing items, and polishing.

    It's all content adding.

I really don't think this should take longer than 1 year, with 1.5 years MAX.

With all of their manpower and resources, it should be done much quicker and more efficient, and it's different from back in the day (D1 1997 to D2 2000).

    What do you guys think?

    Quote from name="Sol Invictus" »
I think it's pretty ungrateful and even completely disloyal for some to complain about and insist on undoing all the hard work that Blizzard has put into the game these past four years.

This is the game we've been wanting for close to a decade and the gameplay looks promising as hell and the only thing some people can be fixated on seems to be the graphics.

    Give Blizzard a chance, guys.

Quite despicable, isn't it? These people forget that we thought that blizzed tossed out the diablo franchise.

posted a message on Do you like the weapons glowing?
The glowing looks great but it definitely has to be a rarity. Perhaps only on rare items to signify the weapon's power.

Otherwise, if a basic weapon has some lightning attack, don't add the glow, but still let it show the lightning damage animation.

Thank you blizzard. So far it looks like a steller product you are giving us. This is really a gift from you to us because we've been waiting for D3 for so long.

I have complete faith in everything you are doing and I can't wait!
