Prior to 2.1, I had quit the game as it felt unproductive and simply "not fun". The last 200 hours I had played yielded nothing. I had not found one item to replace my existing items nor had I found any new items to allow me to experiment with builds. Note I had played a wiz for 800 hours plus around 250 hours with other classes .
After 2.1 was released, this all changed. Drop rates seemed to have been increased considerably. I had found my first ever Wand of Woh and was able to play every class feeling every session ( 1 to 3 hours ) felt rewarding. I had found set many set items pieces for each class and really enjoyed playing them. Around that time, Blizzard were also offering D3 Vanilla and D3 RoS at 50% discount online. Coincidence or not ?
However, in the past 3 three weeks, drop rates seems to have returned back to pre 2.1 levels. I now mainly play DH and have been looking for a build changing item, Having grinded efficiently for 3 weeks and having spent at least 25,000 blood shards on Kalada, I have not seen one TnT or witching hour or calamity or anything else regarded as super rare. Of the 20,000 I have spent on gloves, I have seen 3 frostburns, tens of mage fists, tens of maruaders gloves and countless shadow gloves but no TNT.
Oh, I did find a decent bombadier rucksack when grifting which I wasted hard earned 1 billion gold re-rolling for nothing.
D3 is no longer fun/ rewarding. Time for a break perhaps until the next marketing push.
It was near perfect. 740+ Dex, 730+ vit, 20% AS, 10% CC + socket ( which I tried to reroll ) . I did my best to re-roll but it did not payoff so will cut my loses will resume playing in a fun/enjoyable way... Yes, another one will appear eventually I hope and I will have more luck re-rolling
Thanks for the replies, correction of the title and the link :). It confirms what I suspected about the weighting. I had actually spent the 800 million across different games just to eliminate the possibility of having a bad RNG instance but it made no difference to me.
Last night, I re-rolled a few more times and in haste, salvaged the rucksack. Why ?, because the re-roll cost was ridiculous and the prospect of farming ( with boon of hoarder gem ) at 60/70/80 million gold / hour to re-roll 4 times really turned me off. Having re-rolled over 130 times and only seen the sentry affix once with 11%, and again last night again with 11%, I feel it's not gonna happen. I'll stick to my existing rucksack
Yesterday, I picked up a decent Bombadier Rucksack and decided to re-roll the socket for +% Sentry damage as most M6 DHs tend to do.
After spending 800 million gold and many veils, I only got +11% Sentry damage and only saw sentry damage appear once. I lost count of how may re-rolls I had done but I know I depleted 800 million gold the reroll cost had risen to over 15 million per roll.
Although I appreciate enchanting is gambling, I do feel the RNG / enchantress can be overly cruel and could be improved a bit ?
1. Only seeing 1 Sentry damage choice after 800 million. I expected to see it 8 to 10 times given the number of rolls and number of possible affixes
2. Seeing hatred generation appear in over a third of rolls. It was in virtually every re-roll as a choice at the start. Maybe it's weighted higher ?. no idea.
3. Having only 2 choices in addition to your existing affix
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. If not, then it's a case of badluck for me.
Does anyone know if a weapon with physical damage works less effectively than a cold damage weapon in a cold skills build ?
I have a demon hunter cold sentry build. I recently picked up n Etrayu with cold weapon damage but decided to re-roll the damage. In the process, I rolled an almost perfect damage of [1198] - [1495] which is only a few points below the upper limits. The problem is the damage is physical ( not cold ).
I have read a few threads discussing behavior for Monks / items but not sure how it all works for Demon Hunters.
I just earned a Hellfire amulet but I am not sure what to re-roll into a socket. I am a Demon Hunter - Cold, Sentry build with over 2.84 BP
The amulet came with the Steady Aim passive and has the stats 78-140 Damage, 713 Dex, 577 Armor, 10% Crit Chance
If I wear the amulet as it is, my profile shows 1.132 million dps, 7.7 million toughness
What would be better to roll ?. Is armor the most useless ? If I did re-roll armor, I would able to compensate by adding VIT/AR on my belt or helm. All my other items are pretty DPS focused so there's lots of room to toughen myself up.
Please could someone who knows for sure how to calculate break points confirm how to calculate my BP
1. My gear has a total of 43% attack speed bonus
2. My Tasker and Theo gloves has a 47% pet attack speed bonus
3. Paragon attack speed is 10%
4. Crossbow ( Natalya ) has 1.6 atttacks per second
According to my calculations
Total IAS = 43 + 10 = 53%
TnT boost = 47%
Therefore my BP is
( 1+ ( 1.47 x 0.53 ) ) x 1.6 = 2.84656
which is greater than the break point of 2.8421 stated in various threads. Why I need confirmation is a calculator someone kindly posted online gives me an inflated BP of over 3.5 which looks wrong to me.

Their calculations is
1.47 x 1.53 x 1.6 = 3.59
Thanks
