Nah, I guess they just bring them to the development studio

I think you agree that giving a kid a beta for him to spread over the entire internet is something different than letting someone come to their studio's, right?

It's fake. He's watching the Gameplay-video and edited an ESC-screen over it.

    - He's moving too much when playing, like he's overacting.
    - He pushes a button when enemy's explode, while this would we something mous-clikck-related. I think he's trying to make his act more convincing when his actions are corresponding with what is on the screen.
    - The pressing of the ESC-butten and the appearance of the pause-screen are badly timed.
    - It's part 1 of 3, or 1 of 4, but the other parts are nowhere to be found.
    - After the intro, you only get to see his face, and nothing of the game. If you've got it, show it.
    - There's no way in Hell Blizzard would hand out an early beta copy to some kid just because he's got cancer.

posted a message on When do you think D3 will come out?
It'll be about 1 or 1,5 year. Blizzard always announces games when they've got about 1 or 1,5 years of work to do. So we'll be playing it in winter 2009. That is, if nothing goes wrong.

Even if it wasn't there before, why would they add a empty space, because something might be put there in the future? Just to give a silent hint to those who are looking hard enough?

Well then, there are three pictures in the news post 'Fan Art' on Blizzard.com. This is absolutely an obvious hint that Diablo 3 is coming. I mean, none of the pictures is Diablo fanart, but there are three of them, so it's certainly a hidden hint at the coming announcement.

I think it is just a normal space in between the games.

Indeed. It's merely a blank space to seperate the Diablo from the Starcraft games.

(Note: the older games are without space in between, but this is because Blizzard considers them 'classics', and thus a category of their own.)

The entire Diablo 3 community suffers from apophenia. :)

Copy the link in your browser, add a space behind it and hit enter. Should do the trick.

It's a nice drawing, but I really think the presumed 3 is just some rune Metzen decided to draw there, really. Can't really understand why he'd put 'Diablo 3' above a picture which was made even before the expansion to Diablo 2 came out.

It seems some people expected that they would be send a beta version of Diablo III on may 1st, to play at their leisure. Is it really so hard to grasp that this move Blizzard made is something big? Blizzard is always secretive about their upcoming games and they are smart enough to know that taking diablo3.com would be enough to send half the Diablo-related web into a speculating freny, yet they decided to make this move, which bodes very well indeed for the future of Diablo fans.

I'm not too sure there will be an announcement at the WWI; I've been dissapointed a bit too often in the past, so I won't get my hopes up too high, but, in general, this move of Blizzard is great news. It feels like it's the first thing in years that indicates that Blizzard still cares about Diablo and it's fans.

I'd like Diablo as final boss. All the others can appear and be slaughtered too. I'm really curious as to what Blizzard makes of Belial and Azmodan.

Good. The Diablo Universe can indeed be the setting for a lot of interesting stories. I've enjoyed Knaak's books a lot, but actually only because they were in a Diablo setting. The stories and the writing weren't really top-notch, in my humble opinion. So I'm really curious at how other writers are going to write about the Diablo universe.

posted a message on Diablo III Completely FREE ?
Developers have been promising 'total freedom to do whatever you want' in games for about twenty years, I believe, and still most of these freedom-games are very strictly defined. There's no way programming a virtual world that can contain all the possible ideas, whishes, actions and wants of an online community of thousands. I'm rather skeptical about Darkfall. If the freedom is all they offer, then they offer nothing.

Also, it's got nothing to do with Diablo. Diablo is a hack 'n slash game, not an MMORPG/RTS/FPS. Diablo is about slaying monsters against impossible odds, collecting loot, building characters, fighting prime evils and destroying your mouse by repeatedly slamming it's buttons. Not about being something like an elven-dwarf pirate juggler who earns his money by selling his pixelated body in the virtual streets of some digital city. Roleplaying is ok, but it's not Diablo.

This alludes to the constant battle between Heaven and Hell rather than The Sin War. What this implies is that Sanctuary had to exist before the Sin War; especially since several key events take place within Sanctuary.

Aren't the conflict between heaven and hell and The Sin War the same thing?

Anyway, my question is: What the hell happened to the other evils that stayed in Hell while all this Diablo/Mephisto/Baal/Duriel/Andrial crap was going on? Did they get stronger? Were they too overthrown? What happened? Are they still even alive?

I seem to remeber that the very reason that Diablo is walking the earth was because he and his two brothers (Mephisto and Baal), the three prime evils, where overthrown and banished from hell by the lesser evils. So those remaining in Hell, are probably perpetually fighting each other over power, as demons are known to do. :)

However, as Andariel en Duriel are part of the lesser evils and they're also in the mortal realm, I'm not really sure how this all fits together. Anyway, I believe you can't really draw a separation between the realms of hell, sanctuary and heaven. Hell and heaven are battling each other IN sanctuary, so it seems all mixed up. Could be wrong though.

The question now is just: How long before The Sin War did Inarius and Co. create Sanctuary?

Well, some book in Diablo I said: "Take heed and bear witness to the truths that lie herein, for they are the last legacy of the Horadrim. There is a war that rages on even now, beyond the fields that we know - between the utopian kingdoms of the High Heavens and the chaotic pits of the Burning Hells. This war is known as the Great Conflict, and it has raged and burned longer than any of the stars in the sky. Neither side ever gains sway for long as the forces of Light and Darkness constantly vie for control over all creation."

Which would imply that The Sin War has been going on forever. However, these books are written by the Horadrim, which would mean that 'forever' means 'from when Sanctuary was created'.

I seem to remember, however, that in one of Knaak's books, that it was mentioned that they created Sanctuary as a refuge from all the Sin War-stuff going on, which would make it more realistic to say that it would be going on forever. It's also refered to as 'The eternal conflict', which is kind of a dead giveaway. :)

posted a message on Weapons that deserve to be in D3
I've been playing some Diablo 1 these last days and I'd love to see the old cursed items back. It gives the game a darker atmosphere, which I think Diablo 2 lacks.

Same goes for uniques. A lot Diablo 1 uniques used to have good and bad properties. Something +10 strength, +10 vitality, but your mana gets down to zero, or you'll loose all you resistances. That sort of stuff. Seems to make the Diablo world a much more dark and depraved world, instead of all these buffing, godly items just lying around.
