In D2 you could only go hostile from town. Then if you had any TPs up, once hostile they would disappear.
There was no way to go hostile once in the vacinity of another player, you had to search and seize.

yes.. its actually quite a bit of work on the PKers part to actually find you and then pk you. if they are gonna put in enough effort to do that, there are plenty of options you have before they get to you. it sucks you have to stop everything your doing and react to what they are doing, but its part of the game.

quick little post i thought about. i was checking out the cains journal thing the other day and i remember it saying that there was a hero that came to the town to battle the prime evils and that he went out and fought diablo and came back... but then it ended up that the hero had diablo in him and turned evil... i kinda relate this to pking, hero comes to town to save the helpless people, ends up turning evil and killing the helpless people... pking is in the story itself.

My Mistake but in my mind the people that use the cheaters are mostly PVP'ers so I lumped them together.

some people that cheat are pvp players true, but in my experience a majority of the hacks arent for pvp but for item finding. maphack, while it does give an advantage in pvp it also helps the mfers get to their destination quicker so they can do more runs. pickit has nothing to do with pvp. meph/pindle/baal bots have nothing to do with pvp. there are a few, tppk, aimbot that give disadvantages but i havent seen too many people using those.

as far as the arguments i have read pro and con pk and pvp there are valid points on both ends. pk while cheap and unfair and possibly dissrupting your gameplay can be countered with as people have mentioned private games, level restrictions etc.. there was the argument against pk where your are unexpectedly pked by another char. which actually holds no water, you get a big warning that says you have been hostiled, even a little icon on your screen, and they also give you i think its 10seconds to decide what you want to do about it, so if your unexpectedly killed you must not have been paying attention in the first place, where if your not paying attention you have just as much of a chance being killed by a monster as you do a player.

as far as diablo 3 is concerned, personally i hope they leave in pk(which they pretty much stated they wont, but still it was an interesting part of the first 2 games), ive been playing d2 for 5 or so years and have only been pked a couple times, and all my games i make 8 player with no level restriction, anyone can join any of my games if they want(unless im doing mf runs where i make a private game for myself with a pass). its not as big a problem as a lot of people on here are making it out to be. hardcore, sure it sucks if you get pked.. its hardcore, dont play if you dont want a challenge. again, you have some options to help negate that problem... but like i said, its HARDCORE its supposed to be challenging.

i personally have never gone into low level games just to be an asshat and piss people off. im generally the guy that goes in to see if some new people feel like having a free rush, i like helping people out. if i feel like pvp i go into a "duel" or "pk" type game and lose a couple ears (i dont pvp on hardcore... i like my chars and yes there are a lot of hackers and cheaters that are better than me so i just stay away from it). but there are plenty of people that love that aspect of the game and the thrill of never knowing when ur hc char is gonna die.

last comment... for those of you saying, why should i have to go out of my way to make level restrictions, passwords, play with friends etc... well... if the pker is gonna go out of his way to find your game, hostile you, then hunt around for you.. hes putting in a lot of effort to pk you, why dont you just put in a little effort to stop that? i mean, its no different than in real life, people get picked on, its a fact.. weaker people get picked on by stronger people, it happens, it sucks.. but it happens. you learn how to keep yourself out of those situations as much as possible. just learn the game, there are ways to avoid these things.

    ...end of rant

posted a message on coming from wow to diablo advise plz
ya i got a little advice for you, no the game is not like wow, there can only be a max of 8 players per game. if your just starting out, a sorc or necro would probably be the easiest classes to play. there is no respec option, so once you put your points into your skill they are stuck there, if you want to change them you will have to make a new character. leveling is much, much faster in diablo 2 than it is in wow. the level cap is 99 not 70. there are far fewer quests to complete and they dont reward exp, they generally reward a useful item or something beneficial to your player. and my last word of advice, dont tell people your a wow player, most people that play diablo hate wow... just tell them you are new.
    hope this helps.

    1. In the gameplay video we saw three item qualities; white, yellow, and purple. Can you please explain the differences between each and the possiblitiy of other qualities?

    2. During the gameplay video an "Elixer of Vitality I" dropped. Can you explain Elixers and the benefits and roles they will play in Diablo 3?

    3. Can we expect to see "Acts" returning as well as the three difficulty modes?
-Will there be a difference between difficulty modes other than the monsters becoming harder to kill? (Eg. different areas to explore, more dungeons, new monsters, new bosses etc...)

    4. With the announcement of a more Co-Op oriented game, are players still going to be able to finish end game content solo or will they require help from a group?

    5. Can you comment on what kind of talent/skill system players will be using and how skills and skill points will be aquired and used in Diablo 3?
-Will the attribute system of Diablo 2 remain or will a new system replace it?

    6. Do you have any information that you are able to share on classes other than the Witch Doctor and the Barbarian? If not, when will this information be available to the public?

    7. What can players expect to see with the PVP system being reworked?

Diablo 3 is purely the art of war. They took away pots so that people don't desert their comrades in the middle of battle to buy a couple in town(red orbs heal the entire team). They took away the tetris inventory because while you are jamming in another item, your teammates are being ripped apart. The battles in Diablo 3 will be so epic that you will not have time to pot spam or item jam, so get over it. Blizzard will make it their way and you will like it. Everyone that is bitching obviously has no faith in blizzard, and in my opinion, should be shot. Good day sir!

actually murderface they do still have pots, they just dont want people to be so dependant on them like in d2... ill send a link as my proof from the gameplay video, it clearly shows a "minor health potion" drop. other than that though i completely agree with everything you said, this game will be legit.

posted a message on Respec and Health Globes on Diablo III
i would like a quest chain that allows you to gain a full respec... that would allow a max of 3 respecs, assuming there are still the three difficulties. im not too fond of the only 2 levels or 3 levels, what if you make a character, spend all your time to get to that last skill and realize that it totally doesnt work with your playstyle. as much as i enjoy replayability, that just pissed me off when making new characters i hadnt tried before in d2. i mean maybe you get all the way through nm in d3 and realize your entire build just will not work for what you want to do in hell, the option to get a total respec would be nice, but with a limit of 3 in total, wouldnt ruin everything. im sure early after release people are going to want to try out every spec possible. keeping with the three tree aspect of d2, this would allow you to try every branch with one character which imo would be nice. just my 2 cents...

Corpse Exlplosion (or something to that effect, hell call it Zombie Detonation for all I care).

ya i like this skill... what if they added an extra dimention to it though, like a timed corpse explode. would make it a little more strategy based instead of just clicking and blowing up bodies. like you see a dude running away but happens to be going towards a body, you hit the skill and as he runs by two seconds later BOOM! didnt even see it coming, haha. personally i think it would be fun.

posted a message on D3 Auction House?
more of like a barter type house might be useful, considering gold is worth nothing in diablo as of now. unless they change that fact, an auction house would be pointless. some way of having something like someone said earlier where you can put your item up and people can make different item/gold/whatever offers and you pick what you want, that would be nice... dont know how they would work it into the game though, should be interesting to see what turns up

posted a message on Suggestion: MF in separate slots from other stats
thats just part of the game in d2... its a trade off, do you want high mf or do you want better stats? its all part of your build, trying to find a good medium between good mf, if thats what your going for, and good damage. as of now i couldnt really see them designating seperate slots just for mf, run etc.. gear. they pretty much already have that in d2 with the addition of charms. you can get a bunch of charms of say mf to boost it up so your gear can be more damage oriented.

i got scammed once in my early d2 days.. guy put item in the screen clicking it all over in different boxes and hitting accept then canceling... finally i got tired of hit and just hit accept real fast and ended up with some shitty ring that had the same design.. i was pretty pissed, lesson learned tho. i also had an account hacked one time, dont know how it happened, had 3 lvl 90s with some decent gear, went on one day and they were all naked, everything was gone... i quit for about 2 years after that
