Lots of words and walls of text, but in practice this game got one big problem and its not related to game mechanics, its more about how this game is seen by developers.
Diablo 3 has to offer alots of fun but for very short period of time. Depends of player type it can be week or two, or even a month. We as a players who love this game want that fun to exist for much more than that, but does developers want that too ?
I think developers are ok with how the game works, and that it gives fun for short period of time and that in my opinion is MAIN PROBLEM OF THIS GAME.

I think its not the paragons alone that are the problem. Its just that paragon farming is the best way to gain more power at some point of the game. I think they are trying to address that by adding additional recipe that will allow us to get more main stat on items, but it can't compete with paragons imho. It's ofcourse nice thing but it will just move a bit that point in time where paragons will be again the best way to gain more power.

When you comparing D3 to other games you should also add some hard facts, why the game X is better than D3. I didn't see any in this topic.
Diablo 2 - didn't play it that much, but i think D2 could only stand against vanilla D3, not the ROS. D2 endgame was basically PVP, and farming was boring like hell (killing 1 boss endlessly sounds not fun for me). Build diversity: D2 had much easier content so more builds were viable. Runewords: holy grail of D2, those didn't even have any special mechanics, just some flat affixes
Lost Ark - so this game will beat D3 cos we saw some fancy movie on the internetz. You can't really compare this game to D3 before release. They can put up alot of juicy stuff on webpage but well you can write anything, even this forum members can put up some nice wrtitten stuff wrapped with images - but it is still only on paper, you cant say that it will work till you will try it in game.
D3 has solid foundation that can be extended greatly and devs are extending it season by season. New stuff will be added to the game makes it better. If we see other ARPG's with similar quality - its just good for us. Competition is always good for customers.

But we already playing an expansion.
Just look at the amount of content we got since release of ROS:
- seasons
- ancient items
- greater rifts
- legendary gems
- cube (kind of new crafting system)
- new sets and items (gift for example)
- seasonal journey
Sure there's no new story and not much of a new zones/mobs - but those aren't that important for replayability. New zones and monsters might be fun at start for like a week, all stuff that matters they added later, and last season is definetly the best one so far.
There might be no announcement for new d3 expansion on blizzcon, but i will just be happy if they keep adding stuff to the game that makes it more fun to play.

"Diablo III Dev Talk" is very laconic. D3 had more love on previous blizzcon-s without even any big announcements. There's also no engineering panel and no wow movie panel, and as i understand, those links aren't listed anywhere on official website yet - so its prolly still work in progress.

I think next class will be druid or archdruid or something else that is heavy nature focused.
They might also introduce new mainstat like wisdom. That could work well with shapeshifting and give different benefits depends on form druid is using (for example in bear form it might give armor, in caster form all res etc.).

I don't like when people say that "it's not wow" so we can't have that or this. I'd love to see more events in the game, especially "challenge" type events like greater rifts. More variety is always better, and events that would allow to do something in bigger group that 4 man would make game better rather than worse imho.
I wouldn't call it specifically "raid" but rather something that is:
- crafted for group play only and for more than 4 ppl
- have infinite scaling similar to greater rift, so both casual and pro players would find it fun
- have challenging mechanics (bosses), that require team play
- have great prizes and can't be spam farmed (for example some device that is slowly gaining charges, each charge let's you enter the portal for that "raid" realm)

@loftybloke
You dont have 6-set, just swap that eternal union ring for ring of royal grandeur (it drops from bounty bag act 1), that will be the fastest way to get 6 set, and then u will just melt mobs on t6
Your weapon lacks socket, emerald gives u 100%+ critical damage bonus, that is huge damage boost
You have hexing pants in the cube. Are you sure u want to use this ? I personally hate to move and cast/move and cast/move and cast playstyle, and if u do it wrong its basically huge damage loss
You lacking alot of crit chance - especially on shield, ring and amulet. Rolling that vitality on amulet to crit chance might be good idea
You can change finery passive to holy cause, you doing holy damage, so u will get nice healing from this passive. It should help with surviving more damage.
Summarize: get 6 set and more damage, u got enough toughness to do torment 9, u just lacking damage
@gamerloin
Im running with stricken, trapped and gogok and did 58 (2 sec left to 59 so far). If you think that you have enough toughness then u might drop taeguk, if toughness is the problem then drop trapped. On high gr-s stricken is superior to other gems so u should always use it.

On weapon: both options are competetive, equiping 2h give u more dmg, but not that much more, and u loose much higher attack speed and +15% cdr from fervor. High attack speed makes u regen fasters, u build gem stacks faster and reset cds faster due to zodiac ring.
High cdr and zodiac ring: this is pretty much mandatory for me, u need that akarat champion up almost all the time, remember that this set doesnt give us much cc, and only cos of that cc we were able to survive higher gr-s with rolands.
FR combo isn't great just because u need to sacrifice slot for generator, instead u could just use law with critical rune that is also up most of the time, and with 2 free ring slots u can go coe + unity equiped and zodiac in cube
Legendary gems:theres new gem bane of the stricken - it is very strong vs bosses and i guess will shine in high gr's where u need some time to kill everything. Atm on ptr most popular setup is bane of the trapped, gogok and bane of the stricken
Cubing leoric's crown is easy choice, u can go hexing pants if u like that gameplay style, personally i dont, but in terms of performance it seems hexing pants are bis (according to current ptr leaderboards)

Blizzard can just add paragon brackets in leaderboards to fix the problem with "oh i cant compete with top players".
Also i think its not just because paragon points are so good, its just because at some point item progression is almost impossible, so easiest way to gain more power is to simply grind paragons. Game should have some other long term goals and some late game progression system with items that is more rewarding that current system.
Same amount of xp needed for next level after p2000 is prolly technical limitation and i guess they will change it somehow.
Cutting something out of players that invested lots of time in this game sounds very bad for me, this is grinding game, and no matters what you do if you play 2h a day u cant compete with someone playing 12h a day.

Blues already said that u will gain access to cube in town after u finish off the quest.
There will be only standard class restrictions, it will work exacly like additional equipment slots. For now they only mentioned that you wont be able to put hellfire amulet legendary there.
Sure it will have strong effect, but it wont be anything game breaking i think. Sets and rings from season 3 have much stronger effect than mixing any weapon with furnace for example. Overall its good change, cos it will affect lots of items, not only the new ones and thats imho the way to go.

And why do you need the gear when the way u play doesn't require that gear ?
"Doing the crap t1 in sucky gear" is actually the way how it should be. You gather small pieces to be able to progress further.
I'm not saying this is bad addition, but i'd rather see some more events that are based on both skill and gear than just pure skill (we don't even know if it will be the case).

Sounds like not in the place for now.
This game is about getting gear and building a skill set around it. This event basically removes that. I understand that it might be some nice small addition, but i would rather see some more "normal" events that "fun" events at this stage of the game.
