You will die. (Or at least you should act like it.) I know the servers are much more stable now. I lost 3 of 4 characters to the "network disconnect". The other was lost just to not having played softcore through or researching encounters. I am back up to a 51 wizard now. I keep all of the gear I replace in my stash and have started a new level 10 wizard. I know eventually I am going to die to something whether it is in my control or not. My advice is to minimize your loss by having another character inherit all the gear you replace. This is closest your going to get to restoring your hc character. It is almost like a save point. I was dumb the first week and auctioned my old gear to buy new gear. When my 37 died to network disconnect I had nothing to fall back on. Now, I have the gear to level all the way to 42+. I play my other wizard with lower level friends and so on.
