For me it has a lot to do with family. when Diablo 1 was still new I was a teenager and I remember my dad picking up the game and me watching him play and as soon as I got a chance at the family pc i started playing it. It ended up becoming a point of discussion between my dad and I.He and I we would talk about new items we had found and it became kind of a competition on how far we had got in the game. By the time D2 came out I was living on my own and my dad and I played it together for countless hours especially after Lod came out. I know a lot of people would disagree with me but I still get the general feeling when I play D3 and finally get that legendary I have been searching for. The only other series I can say that I have been playing this long would be the final fantasy series. for me Diablo has become a family thing and now my 18 year old son is playing as well way more casually than I do but he still loves the game.

logistify posted a message on Console - What to do?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionHaving played since day one on PC, then switching to ps4, I understand everything you have typed. I deal with those as well. I am only hardcore. I have some ideas for you.
1) Seasons: Since season 3 I have completely erased all Diablo 3 content on my PS4 and started my own season, mirroring the PC seasons. This was due to my first account going from 350 paragon to 900 in the matter of 5 seconds, thanks to some hacker scrub in an open game.
2) Push Yourself: every other day or week, take up a new Grift. HC characters die, all the time, so don't. I got my DH to Grift 41 before she perished, but the push from 30-41 was FUUUUNNNNNNN. (Everything before was banging my head against the wall).
3) New items: Grab new items, and switch up your builds. Once you have enough, ditch the tried and true and go for broke.
These ideas are based on how much self-discipline you have to keep this up. Once I took these 3 steps, the game opened up and I fell in love again. Good luck, have fun, don't die and if you do, try again or wait for next season.

Shootlessjoe posted a message on Console - What to do?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionGranted I like the console version over the PC any day of the week. There are some things that we don't get that the PC players have. The controller feels better in my hands than the mouse and keyboard when I was playing it on PC. I do like that I can play alone if I like or with others. The fact there are modders in the game still makes my blood boil. I wished Blizzard would patch that up but 4 patches later, I don't think they will.... that's one that that is trashing the game via console.
But having friends and playing on a game mode that feels fun is going to keep me going and going with the new content coming out. I play other games too when I get burnt out on D3 but the fact I can play the game in 1080p without having a big gaming rig to play it is fun. I am really looking forward this new content.

It suppose be dungeons when you got the 6 pieces of the set on you. You go in and complete the tasks it needs. Then you can change the looks of the set I think. -

Shootlessjoe posted a message on Console - What to do?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI'm looking forward to that set and Endless Walk set as well since I play the WD a lot! More damage reduction is nice in HC!
Also those communitiesI mentioned before.. I joined a few more and I keep getting some friend requests with those who play the game! It's pretty nice getting gifts in the mail system again. :-)

lxxcurse posted a message on Console - What to do?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionEven if you don't have seasons, your patch notes are essentially the same, right? 2.4 makes pretty much everything viable, so more than ever you can explore pushing whatever style of build you like, or playing a class that used to suck or you didn't bother with, etc. I've only played DH Crusader WD on the PTR, but they're all way more fun and have a much larger variety of ways to play them that actually work than ever before. Season or not won't change that aspect.
Obviously I can't speak for others, but for me, a new season is more about coming back for a fresh start on the new patch with its changes than it is about the season. If Season 5 was starting on 2.3 again I wouldn't really care about it much. So you still get that aspect on console.

Lucky posted a message on Console - What to do?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI used to be a strictly HC player myself. From Loot 2.0 up until season 2. I didn't like the fact that SC(or carebear as we called it) could build straight damage and didn't take toughness into account at all. M6 DHs running around with 4m toughness and such. During season 2, after I lost my 4th SWK Holy Monk that season due to disconnect(no non-DC deaths), I decided to try out SC, and never looked back. I found it much more fun to push higher and higher. I enjoy being able to test the limits a lot more than playing it safe, as it seems like you're doing. It may be worth checking out if you're getting bored in HC. There's a natural aversion to risk that is hard to overcome.

1. I actually stopped playing HC because I would get way too excited when rifting if I was cutting it close.
I actually didn't expect anyone to respond. Thank you.
1. I may have talked it up a bit more than I should have. I can complete 32+ on my dashing strike monk. He kills things ridiculously fast and rarely even takes damage. Other characters, since I have each of them moderately geared T3 safe.. are scary to take into grifts. I guess just talking about it rekindles a bit of that fire.
2. What I meant by mode was normal versus HC. SOmetimes it's fun to push your character and see what they can do knowing that if they die you didn't lose it all. The challenge then is figuring out how to optimize yourself to advance. This is especially true if you like to do a lot of DIY builds. Also, with the next patch, it will introduce the LoN ring bonus so you can do more DIY sets and advance to higher rift tiers while inventing your own builds.
3. That sucks to hear. Maybe it will be better in the future. -

Pus1418 posted a message on So Busy, Need Help (Crusader)The previous poster seems to have failed to mention, you will use Firestarter rune with AC for this build. This is the true key to this build, not heaven's tempest, as far as damage is concerned. HT is decent and is fire so will do moderate damage, but, it and Heaven's Fury/Blessed Ground(instead of falling sword OR consecration (great skills, but this is a very mobile build and don't work well imo)) are two, if not the two, best ways to stack the dots for Firestarter quickly. Eventually you will want 6 set or 5 and RoRG from act 1 caches, along with Darklight(1 hand Flail) preferably. Fire% lidless wall, eberli charo (for more dots from HF/Blessed Ground) are decent shields for this build. Any other complementing fire gear will help, I.E. ammy, SoJ(ring), Reaper's Wraps with fire%(bracer) will help. 56% CDR(cooldown reduction( is the magic number once you have Akhans 6 set bonus, remember it is multiplicative not additive so the more you get the less change you will see on sheet CDR. It is not terribly hard to attain with one hand weapon. You will ideally want it on shoulders/gloves/weapon/helm gem/shield and can also get it on Vigilante belt, or if using RoRG with 5 set Captain Crimson belt and legs/boots (crafted, 10% CDR REQUIRES RORG TO GET AKHAN AND CAPTAINS BONUSES). You can also get CDR on rings but it is tough to get CDR along with a socket and decent stats, try not to use rings for CDR unless you need it to reach the 56% mark.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

My mom used to ban me from games all the time when I was little for leaving things on my floor.
Seems reasonable.
