because everyone has a high dpi mouse that can easily sway his mouse left and right with a fast attackspeed weapon. apologies for having regular hands.
thing is, while the rocket only hits 1 target and less dependable 1 v 1 vs guardian, it proved slower clearing grifts due to the lack of aoe coverage. yes, the grenades wreck in a focused area. but then when you have a situation where they are scattered too much, you need wider aoe. hence i prefer maelstrom than loaded for bear.
and for personal grift runs, doing cold g40 was faster than fire
maelstrom is the hardest hitting skill right now and the only point for dropping less than 5 sentries if you are going lightning spec.
although cold missile is not always dependable in solo since there are times that you'll get screwed over by mortar+jailer in g40+ but they wreck really hard.
there was a thread earlier about lightning still viable and using calamity with only 3 sentries and still managed to do g47 solo.
not sure on fire spec tbh, the lack of missles to hit extra enemies is just too good to miss out on. since cold sentry is required now.

The Raekor set got fixed and its performance is improved overall (pre-Conduit nerf people were able to clear GR62, GR63 on PTR with it). The reason why the barb's GR performance is worse than before is because of the "fix" of the Conduit Pylon. You can complain about the Conduit Pylon, you can complain about the lack of single target damage, you can complain about the design of the barb class - all legit. But saying that the Raekor set got nerfed is plain wrong as all evidence on PTR and live shows us.
The only real "nerf" to Raekor is the removal of its pulling ability which renders Raekor barbs less useful for group GR runs. But that was only being used by 0.1% of groups anyways (by far the majority of groups used Crusaders for group runs as it required less "rift fishing"; simply look up Diabloprogress statistics).
so a 150m+ first target hit from raekor with bleed damage isn't considered a buff? wow aren't you dense as fuck.
i use the exact same build/gear combination(except WH) on my alt toon. compared to my main full cdr eq, its fully optimzied for solo rifting but way too density dependent.

perma law+iron skin is awesome. jumping between packs using shield bash while using sweeping attack with golden flense is great.

DH is pretty taxing to play now. no more standing in one area hiding.
barb dont feel that nerfed. but really happy that i can actually 1v1 rift guardians now. well, except for ghom and raziel.
