Currently playing NS this time around. ATM I am playing a wizard with paragon 712. Highest solo clear is like 68 but i havent started pushing yet. I would love an invite as I have always mostly played solo but I find the game more fun and efficient when played with groups.
I can't say I know the answer for sure but there was similar interaction between conflag and the firebird set. However, the most recent PTR build stops this from happening as the dots constantly refreshed each other forever. I would assume that if the above creates some form of eternal loop that it would be fixed before it goes live.
I hope they add this set to a special vendor or something so we dont have to spend 80 hours on the ptr just to test it. I would like to try it with my baleful remnant and my lil avatar army.
I tested it some and from what I have read firebird does indeed appear to be BiS come 2.1. I am curious to see the new patch notes for the next ptr build and see what they do to meteors. I personally like the flavor of the tal rasha set and so I am hoping mixing tal rasha and firebird will be really strong in 2.1. Depending on patch notes I am planning on serpent sparker, hellfire amulet, tal rasha (head, chest and belt), firebird (shoulder, gloves, legs, boots, source), strongarm bracers, fire Soj and RoRG.
On live firebird is garbage, however on the PTR it is quite strong. If you are talking about live the best set is Vyr. The other commonly used high end build is based on stacking CDR and using WoW. You can also merge Vyr and WoW with great success.
I thought mammoth and mirror images simply didn't stack the Fire Bird dot but didn't interfere/reset the dot stacking from your own spells. If it actually breaks the dot stacking then I really hope they fix it.
I just wish they would give us more abilities that deal fire damage. Seems silly the 6 set bonus only works on fire and then give us so few ways to deal fire damage (although i think every wiz would agree that it would be more fun and allow for amazing build diversity if they dropped the whole firebird set must be fire based stuff). Giving a single rune for AT/disintegrate that dealt fire damage I think would open up a lot more builds as right now while I think we scale much better we are still basically forced into mm conflag (less you have a WoW)
Blizz said all of the changes they were planning were not going to go live at the onset of the PTR. I am hoping they have some better/more fixes coming for wizards (especially the firebird set because if that super weak fix was their big redesign for the set I shall be very disappointed in them). I believe a blue said they were thinking of making an entirely new set for saders based around phalanx which isnt live so that helps me to believe more changes/additions are indeed coming.
The most common end game build at the moment is based on 3 piece vyr and a +2 mirrorball with fire gear. So, if I were you I would gamble for the mirrorball first (then swap to MM conflag as your main damager dealer) and then start going for Vyr pieces. I would probably gamble for vyr gloves/chest first (I personally use legs/feet/hands for vyr as I like the tal chest but some people use the vyr chest so they can run magefist) as that way you may get a good magefist/cindercoat to use on your way to 3 piece vyr (note - this all obv assumes you are going to run RORG)
