posted a message on Online only makes the game harder to hack?
In order to have offline single player, all that stuff that is server side now has to included client side, which opens it up to poking and prodding of anybody that has the knowledge to do it.

posted a message on Will D3 have a GM-type system?
I don't believe I have seen a concrete answer to this. However, I see no reason to assume that Diablo III would be any different than Diablo II in this regard.

    Quote from Doomscream

I don't think runes should have stats. We have gear and gems for that matter, enchants for some additional tweaks and the talisman which will return at some point. Adding stats to runes will just add more number to the game, which imo will be too overwhelming. And the way they are (currently) handling runes, it will require you to have invested more points in a skill to be able to socket a higher ranked rune, so your skills with less points will stick with the lvl 2-3 runes with lame stats, because you can not invest that much points in all of your skills.

Ah! You bring up a great point! If runes were to have stats and higher ranked runes could potentially bestow some powerful enhancements, perhaps it would give a great incentive to spreading out points rather than focusing on one or two skills. I believe it is Blizzard's intention to have us spread out points a bit more than in Diablo II. I am not for or against rune stats, but it is something interesting to consider.

posted a message on server auction houses!!!!
I am on the fence on the topic of an auction house. On one hand it is great for the masses that do not want to spend much time getting into the trading game. On the other, to those that do enjoy the trading game, it has basically be reduced to scanning the auction house at the end of a play session and posting items at the market rate. This is of course an over simplification, however it does the diminish much of what keeps Diablo II alive even to this day.

    Runes will NOT have stats.
And there are no magical, rare, legendary runes. There are just runes, because they have their separate item type, which also happens to have a different color.

Thank you for reiterating what I stated in my original post. Perhaps the subtitle mislead you and I apologize. I would more like to discuss whether runes should have stats and more importantly how rune finding will contribute to the overall item finding/trading aspect of the game.

posted a message on Rune "Stats"
The stats that I refer to do not change the effect the rune has upon a skill; that would only depend on the type and rank of the rune. The stats would be the same that you would find on any magical or rare item in the game. For example a "Restless Crimson Rune of Brilliance" would add to experience gained and willpower in addition to the changes it, and any other Crimson Rune of the same rank, would make to the skill.

If every single rank 7 Obsidian rune is equal to every single other rank 7 Obsidian rune in the game, it seems as if it will be a fairly dull mechanic as far as item collecting goes. Of course, let me qualify that statement by saying that little is know about drops rate, crafting, etc of runes. Blizzard could have some fun stuff in store fun us in that regard.

posted a message on Rune "Stats"
Ever since the announcement of runes I have been imagining them as magical items just like any other items that had a base characteristic of changing a skill based upon its rank. Since I imagined it like a normal item, I had always assumed there would be magical, rare, unique, etc versions of them with varying and random stats. However, I recently realized that I don't recall any proof of this. Upon further inspection it seems quite the contrary.

How did you imagine them when they were first announced and how do you think they will turn out. Assuming they don't have stats, do you think Blizzard has missed a customization option?

Personally, I think it would be neat to have stats beyond their base characteristics, but I don't know if it is neccesary considering the already enormous amount of customization possible.

Edit: Changed Topic Description From "Will runes have stats?" to "Should runes have stats?" for subject clarity.

posted a message on Followers single player only :(
I will definitely be playing alone online for at least the first playthrough of the game since I am going to want to experience all the lore and backstories that are offered in the game. It is annoying for another player to have to wait for me to do this, however. So I will at least get to use the follower during this period. After that, I will have to see if I like playing with other people more than alone. I am hoping people are not too irritating and the multiplayer is more enjoyable.

posted a message on The ludicrous amount of gems in D3
I like the idea of having so many levels of gems and having the top level gems be rare. It should be a good way for players to build wealth other than collecting gold and finding those rare sought after items. If everybody is always working towards the best gems, there should always be a thriving gem market.

posted a message on Salvage, Item Drops, and Worth.
In my opinion, nonmagical item drops should stay simply because magical and rare items would seem much more mundane if they were all that dropped.

As for which should be more powerful, crafted or dropped items, I think there could be somewhat of a compromise by allowing even the most powerful dropped items to be slightly augmented through crafting.

posted a message on Lets compare
I find it funny that when WoW was being released people commented on how similar the talent tree was to the skill tree in Diablo II and now people are commenting that the Diablo III tree may be too similar to WoW.

Then again, I am very easily amused.

posted a message on Diablo III Monthly Fee?
    Quote from "devinem2" »
i somewhat disagree because WoW has monthly fees and you can still get hacked same with x box live and stuff like that people get hacked and lose all of what they spent there money on so if we pay a monthly fee for something and then get hacked all of our money whent to waste and nothing else.....i mean, am i wrong?

You are certainly not wrong. However, if a monthly fee would bring the level of hacking/duping that is going on now in the free Diablo2 to the level of WoW, I would gladly pay it. Throw in ongoing content and it would be even better. Of course, $15 a month or whatever WoW is these days would probably be too much, but $5 seems reasonable to me.

With that said, I doubt that hacking/duping will be as much as a problem with bnet2 and I would be fine with the pay for expansion model rather than smaller ongoing content additions.

posted a message on Cant wait to Magic Find?
I hope that there is some way to increase your magic find, however I hope that way does not involve having to replace most of your equipment with dedicated MF gear. It always bothered me that one of the biggest parts of the endgame was MFing to find gear that you might not wear all that much because you were always wearing MF gear. Of course good gear is important for PvP, but I never really got into it that much.

Ideally Blizzard would find a way to increase MF that is independent of gear. Perhaps they could have potions. They could even devise some sort of rudimentary crafting system that involves bringing dropped components to an NPC that can brew up potions that could do things like increasing MF for a certain amount of time. Perhaps they could have shrines (or something similar to them) that could increase MF. They could even tie MF into the combo system they seem to be playing around with.

Though I could be wrong, I believe it is only gold that you need only walk over to pick up. If it is true for all items I certainly hope you can turn that feature off.
