    if diablo.com was sold to or otherwise obtained by Blizzard, cause they do own the trade mark, and is switching over on May 1st, that would definitely be enough reason for "half the web" to link to it, even without an official announcement of the game.

    There is no way a patch for a game that is as old as diablo 2 can attract half the web to this site.

    No way can a book attract half the web to this site. How many people read and how many people play games?
