Diablo is big in Europe and Americas, so WWI and Blizzcon are there.. A WWI announcement in June and everyone salivating for that CGI teaser at Blizzcon. D3 releases June 29 2009. Its perfect!Posted in: News

May 1, 2008Angel_of_Wrath posted a message on Diablo3.com becomes Diablofans.com! Blizzard acquires diablo3.com.Love the new dark design! Well done. The announcement was expected and made sense, but good job on generating fresh excitement for Diablo.Posted in: News
This is good news. Blizzard are such masters at 'unofficial' hype where everyone knows that something is in development, but there's a small chance it isn't cause there's no 'official' announcement. It drives people crazy, especially the instant gratification generation. Does anyone remember Blizzard unofficially hyping something (like obtaining starcraft2.com) and not having something on the go? Starcraft fans were freaking out over that move. I think the long term fans understand how all these pieces are coming together and how this is a sign of something.
There are so many hints out now that WWI is just the perfect place to really announce it:
- blizzard job postings for the 'Diablo' team
- the team 3 working on unannounced project
- Knaak not writing for a dead series
- diablo 3 was already in development years ago
- the diablo release anniversaries
- blizzard buying all the diablo3 domains
This gives great hopes for WWI which will be the real excitement. Magic 8 ball says 'all signs point to yes'. But, if there is no announcement then, I think I'll have to take a break for a while! - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Heheh, that happened to me once (I play hardcore). Only once, then I promptly obtained a screwdriver and removed the Windows keys from my keyboard.
I now remap my keys, so the Show Item function in on the spacebar... less finger strain. I think this is probably good cause 5 seconds is a long time in a battle... pretty much enough time to grab whatever you want to pick up if its within range. If items are not in range, tap Alt again when the battle is over.

Me neither. I downloaded the full video and the globes have an orange glow around them during the 'green' sections.
I like it. I think he's done a great job with it. Especially things like the glowing skelly shields and the battle with Thousand Pounder seem alot better. There's more intensity in the lights, which could have their glows inhanced if the design was based on this.
I like the light radus from the character guiding you... the unknown lurks in the shadows. It could be effective for day/night cycles. Hopefully Blizzard will provide some flexibility in the video options. I dislike the green hue. Alot. But no doubt the game will turn out great overall regardless.

Yeah it's good stuff, he was also in D2 once for the reading of the tome where you get the countess quest. "...who once bathed in the blood of a hundred virgins..."
Anyway, I recall the devs saying there would be much more tomes and books in D3 compared to D2 so hopefully they get the same voiceovers.

yeah, I agree with this approach. I hope its not like TQ though, I couldnt replay that game through again cause everything was the same.
Even though d2 areas aren't really that random or different when you look at it closely, the enemy placement was and the loot was, so it kind of tricks you into believing its more random than it really is since each trip through is different in one way or another.
A semi-static world with random boss mobs or some random questlines from time to time should still hold that replayability while giving an immersive overworld.

FYI
A blizz rep (I think it was Rob Pardo) said that they will not be releasing their internal project code names or what they mean. I think the quote was "you'll just have to live without that"

It's not anal, it's because stones are the colour of... uhhh... stones. You know, stone colour? Unless it's the Forgotten Tombs of Emerald City, the green hue is out of place.

I'm sorry, but this really proves shit, and there's no point to continue trying.
On topic, Hellgate has failed because it tried to do everything and ended up confusing everyone. An Action RPG hybrid MMO with multi-tiered payment structure with multi-tiered game mode with single player patches and seperate online content.
They wanted to do everything that they felt should have been in diablo..3d environment, regular updating, individual loot, crazy items, new takes on skills, shared stashes, etc. In the end they didnt have enough time and money to do any of these, let alone work in a really good (in game) story with cinematics worth something or voice overs or anything.
People that don't pay (subscribe) want everything given to them, single player wants everything given to them, subscribers want nothing given to anyone, 'founders' feel a sense of entitlement. I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get the point. Normal mode game play, elite mode, hardcore mode, hardcore elite mode, with normal difficulty and nightmare difficulty. Fuck if I didnt play over half the game time solo for lack of a party in my area.
I like the game, I still do... I was looking forward to loading it up again for the new content that was supposed to be released last month. I think the artistry on the character armor is totally badass and some of the best i've seen. Unfourtunately, they've just failed to deliver, which has caused dissent in the community. i've never seen a game where people stay behind after they stop playing to incessantly bitch and complain about the game and force this change or that change.
The community has an hand in the destruction of Hellgate London, but the real problem was the business model and unfinished product at launch. If you are saying 'makers of Diablo' everywhere, it's gotta stand up to that.
I wish them the best. Anyone who says it's awesome news to see an independant developer go under should give their head a shake and then go buy the next EA piece of shit game.

True... and so sad, if it is in a Diablo game. I should fear the muppets? Jim Henson is Diablo?
