May 2, 2009Guys, here is the most outrageous viable thing they could do:Posted in: News & Announcements
Take all of their 3d art assets, render them in a higher resolution, and offer THAT as an optional high res video mode.
The game'd get real funky when you have the vision to arrow monsters before they even trigger their AI.
Apr 30, 2009Yeah yeah, this isn't happening. Just like the retarded idea of "big" and "little" items. Not happening, the cap will be at least six.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
We hear similar things all the time, like with level caps: "MAYBE THERE WON'T BE A LEVEL CAP AT ALL", which is always bullshit. Guildwars 2 will have a cap of around sixty.
Why do they feel compelled to say or think such absurdities? I guess to look cool and edgy, as though nothing is a holy cow.
In some cases it's apparent that it is a good idea and will happen, such as ditching attributes and ToHit
Apr 28, 2009Posted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from "Mackan" »Perhaps they will reveal a class soon (before BlizzCon) as a compensation for the cancelled WWI.
Not happening, never happened, never will happen. They announce stuff like classes and acts at shows because:
1. Get some of that sweet $$$ from OCD fans who go to their show
2. They want other outlets (magazines, Gamespot, IGN, 1up) to make a huge splash of advertising for them for free. Their target for marketing isn't OCD people like us, they'll already get our money. They target Joe Slow who only played Diablo 2 for a month or, maybe, two.
Ah, and the Talisman is just probably where we'll store our lucky charms.
Apr 27, 2009Sucks enormously. The only time they give out meaningful information is at these big shows. Having to wait once every year to hear anything is balls.Posted in: News & Announcements
I somehow doubt they're going to unveil both classes at Blizzcon.

Yes, and I do think it's superior. Stuff looks like what it looks like on your guy. And it's a screen you go to a thousand times a day; looking at something that absolutely depressing is depressing.Quote from "blood-doll" »can anyone say if this first picture is the way the inventory and images were like at blizzcon?
Remember Hellgate was initially going to use this little-and-big item slot system? It's just a massive mess; I doubt they'll stick with it. 1 slot, 1 item.
It's like the paper doll silhouette guy, it's trying to keep something that needs to go away.
Mar 30, 2009Strongly dislike the segregated item slots, the new inventory UI (the paper doll; perhaps it's past time it died? I thought it was a dead concept everywhere already), depressing background and the illustrated item art. I'd much rather have the damn chest armor look like what it looks like, even though it'll look different to each class+gender combination. A step back from the Blizzcon demo UI in most ways.Posted in: News & Announcements
Not a fan of the rectangular runes. I know it's so they can fit in the slot under the active skills on the skill tree; still looks super poopy in this mockup.
Quote from "Paladin88" »The barb has the same on-screen armor even though he's wearing 2 totally different garments.
I thought they were going to have a completely different mesh or design for every single item?
Not really. It's modular like in Diablo II, so each class has its own unique look, and yet only have to create about three sets of armor for each class+gender combo to accomplish that.
Oh, I can tell you straight up what it does. It's a HYDRA rune, right? It "increases" skill quantity, right?Quote from "pernunz" »Minor Hydra Rune: Increases skill quantity
Anyone know what that could be? Perhaps a +1 Skill kind of thing?
Maybe equipment that the character wears will actually be for doing damage, and the runes will be for +skills. That way (comparing to D2) some char's won't have simply + skills things on them for the sake of having poor combat gear
Adds more projectiles to your projectiles. Instead of shooting one magic missile, fire two. Maybe the highest quality will fire nine?
It has to be vague since runes affect different skills differently. Magic Missile and Zoomy Dash obviously work differently. When you hover it over specific skills on your skill tree, it'll tell you more specifically what the effect is.

"I just got an interesting update about Diablo 3. Rumor has it that the current work on Diablo 3 was canceled and that the game is going to be completely reworked. My tipsters tell me that Blizzard North's work on the game was, to put it kindly, below expectations. While this is mildly disappointing, it's nice to know that Blizzard still so zealously guards their name."
Mar 28, 2009Here, LOOK AT THIS IMAGE.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Look at the bottom. That's what the icons look like. For a Witch Doctor. The plague of toads icon is adorable: a cute but diligent froggie.
Since there are apparently people who still haven't seen the announcement video.. watch it watch it watch it.

I.......... adjusted them so I could see.Quote from "permaximum" »What's wrong with your gamma settings?
You didn't play Diablo 1 and have no idea what you're talking about.Quote from "permaximum" »Also there is nowhere that shiny in D1.

Well, here is a lie from March 2008. Back when the Hellgate forums were hidden from the public and required you to log in to a beta or retail account. And back when there were Hellgate forums:Quote from "Kenzai" »"Lying PR guy..." WTF?!?
And there was always hyperbole behind his sales pitches.
When there's guys in the world like Jeff Strain (a man who is very candid that the subscription model is not required to cover bandwidth costs, and is something we all know) or any one of the Arena.net guys who built the backbone of the multiplayer systems used for the later Blizzard games... it seems perverse we're treating a voice actor and PR guy like a diva.
"Well, they should just play online" - Bill Roper, in response to complaints of Hellgate singleplayer being several patches behind multiplayer.
