Wouldn't a Zuni build with zombie dogs and Dagger of Darts build be pretty solid for HC WD? Lots of dmg reduction from pets that has pretty much 100% uptime and ranged damage. I haven't tested the DPS, but I assume no one plays it because it doesn't do competitive dmg any longer.
If you find it hard to locate 10 enemies, just remake the game and get a better mob layout.
You should need to do fairly minimal rounding up of mobs. I might need to make 1-3 loops around a room with gangway up to clump them before i Gangway in to Wrenching Smash and Rend.
After waaaaaay too many attempts I finally completed the the Barbarian Wastes Set Dungeon Mastery. I learned a lot over my attempts and did a lot of reading and watching of other's attempts.
Here are my tips and conclusions:
1) General Tips and Strategy
Go FULL Damage and cool down reduction as much as you can without sacrificing damage. I had 1.4 million sheet dmg unbuffed, 50% CC, 550 CHD, 45% CDR, and 33% increased physical.
DO NOT overuse Whirlwind. It will kill mobs you don't want to kill instead of using them Rends groups. Only engage with WW if you want to wipe the room. You do not want to use WW as a mobility skill unless you want to wipe the room. *important*
Play aggressively (I cannot emphasize this enough). Do not hesitate or take too much time setting up 10 mob rends. Zoom around the map, kill small packs/singles instantly with WW and Gangway up to protect yourself. Use Gangway on large packs to setup an optimized Wrenching Smash, then Rend and immediately WW to kill off the mobs or Gangway to try to double dip another 10-Rend from the room.
Gangway can be used both to enter a large pack safely OR push mobs into the "center" to clump them. Since a mob cannot damage you while being knocked back and you can keep Gangway up nearly 100% of the time, this is much safer than Furious Charge. If you are a charging master... go for it though. I tried both and instantly had improved results with Gangway.
Watch for mobs your WW doesn't kill. I failed twice with one mob up because WW barely didn't kill it and I didn't notice.
Also, develop a route and stick with it. You will start to notice patterns with mob positioning and quantities per attempt. This will help.
2) Skills
Rend - Ravage (for larger AOE)
WW - physical rune of your choice, but I stayed with Blood Funnel
Ground Stomp - Wrenching Smash
War Cry - Veteran's Warning
WotB - Insanity
Sprint - Gangway (this makes avoiding physical dmg MUCH easier as it's nearly impossible to be hit if its up)
3) Passives
Unforgiving, Animosity, Weapon Master, Boon of Bul-Kathos. The theme is max resource regen and max uptime of WotB.
4) Gear
I wore Chilank's Chain, Reapers Wraps, CDR+CHC+CHD rings, and Bul-Kathos's set. I cubed Furnace (to help take down elites faster), Leoric's Crown (for more CDR), and Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac for more effective CDR.
5) Gems
Full rubies in armor, Diamond in helm. LvL 71 Bane of the Trapped, LvL63 Bane of the Powerful, LvL 70 Bane of the Stricken. Again the idea was to take down the "elites" ASAP as waller is one of the few things that can most commonly screw up a run.
Credit goes to Empyrian for this video detailing the use of Gangway.
Lastly, this is very frustrating for many people. Don't give up if you want wings. If you don't care about cosmetics or challenges, don't waste your time on this. It will eat up your time!
Why would you not announce something? Think about it for a moment. The most probable cause for silence is that there is uncertainty, and so instead of saying anything they are waiting for something to be confirmed before making a statement.
Updated the build a bit to fit some of the mechanics findings of the last few days. Notable improvements, which is scary given how well it was already performing.
It sacrifices the least of any of the Monk, Barb, and WD builds I've tried this season, has enough toughness and damage to do T10 effectively, and work's well in groups or solo play.
I have been getting up to 900 DB's per hour running this which is a huge help in testing mid-season builds on four classes. Give it a go! Feedback and improvements are welcomed if you see any. Balance out that Crit, IAS, and CDR and gogogo!
One things worth noting: I had almost no lag ever in Diablo prior to 2.3 launch. Now, menus lag, sometimes buying from Kadala lags, etc. This is new. My connection is otherwise brilliantly clean at 200/25Mbps. Something is amiss in general.
I do thing at least part of the lag is due to the game engine and yes, also how the server handles calculations.
Over all, good game engines handle large amount of data better than poor ones.
D3 is not keeping up with its own development because it is based on a decade old platform.
From what I recall (someone please confirm) Diablo 3 is a 32 bit game not even optimized for 64bit platforms.
The lag issue associated with Hellfire, Rend, etc is a Damage over Time issue. The Pain Enhancer gem does the same thing for example.
Diablo 3 has a very old engine behind it from what I can tell. I know they've made some optimizations fairly recently, but those actually seem to have hurt overall performance where DoTs are concerned.
Personally, I wish they would scrap the engine and just move on with a different platform (and maybe a better version of Diablo).
How much is vit needed for say GR65-68's exp runs? Obviously more dmg if I roll vit off for 10% dmg, but I know a lot of SWK monks prefer VIT on ancient weapons to improve survivability on a pretty squishy build.
Since I didn't have a chance to play PTR, I recently tested Crusader in Season 4 and was frankly, dismayed.
Support Crusader has lost much of its utility due to diminishing returns no Blinds, Condemn, and the poor functionality of Draw and Quarter. At least there is still good damage buffing (HotA barbs really should be jonesing for some 15% attack speed and 100% crit damage).
The Hammerdin, while clearly somewhat powerful, incorporates a carpal tunnel syndrome-inducing stutter mechanic for min/max gameplay and in the end falls short in part due to loss of DPS to maintain damage reduction and damage bonuses don't quite stack up to enough to hit GR70+ (so far at least).
Here are the initial thought I have to share with Blizzard.
Hammerdin: 1h focus may require additional dmg bonuses to compete with other dmg dealing classes
Hammerdin: Perhaps higher dmg output from Falling Sword is needed to compensate for loss of Blessed Hammer uptime?
Hammerdin: Inability to gracefully move and do damage per WW barb, wizards, DH, etc is problematic when combined with ramp-up time required for Blessed Hammer. Why cannot we not simply hold down the button and move while using while so many other abilities can?
Support Crusader: Draw and Quarter does not latch or pull often--subject to diminishing returns? Also does not pull mobs through doorways consistently per other methods of pulling (understand this is somewhat of a global issue, however)
Support Crusader: Shield Glare is significantly weakened as a support ability. Suggest new support oriented runs (several runes are rarely to never used currently) which with removes the blind and incorporates or powerful support mechanic such as a heal or enemy debuff. Existing 20% damage increase is great, but disabling all other forms of CC (monk pulls) does not fit in well with the current meta game at all.
Support Crusader: Utter lack of scale-able healing or shielding. Crusader really needs this in order to bring more to the table and create alternatives or complements to support barbs and monks.
--Shielding mechanics could perhaps scale off Shield Block % and amount?
--Healing mechanics could perhaps scale off Life on Hit?
Support Crusader: Consider 2 laws at once type option to provide both offense and defensive buffs?
Any feedback or additional thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Season 4 and Patch 2.3 might be a bit of a wash, but with enough of a voice, we should be able to resurrect this class to its former top tier status!
I definitely don't recommend using WW. WW is only strong with the Wastes set. It's a very weak damage ability without the set enhancements
Treat this Challenge just like you would tread leveling from 1 to 70.
Get the slowest, strongest 2H weapon you can find and abuse our high % weapon damage abilities as you see fit. Using this mentality, I completed the GR40 Challenge on my first try using the following random stuff I had in my stash with 3 minutes, 19 seconds to spare after 2 deaths:
Ancient IK Helm
Ancient Raekor Gloves
Ancient Fury of the Ancients
Non-Ancient Borns Frozen Soul Chest with 2 sockets and
Hellfire Amulet
Ancient Depth Diggers
Non-Ancient Bracers of the First Men
Ancient Lamentation Belt w/Life per Fury spent
Ancient Gravel of Judgement
Ancient Lut Socks
Focus and Restraint (bad rolls)
*All gear standard rolls except where noted
Cube: Furnace, Pox Faulds, Obsidian Zodiac Ring
Gems: Bane of the Trapped, Bane of the Stricken, Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard
Abilities:
HotA: Smash
Rend: Bloodbath
WotB: Insanity
CotA: Together as One
Battle Rage: Bloodshed
Furious Charge: Merciless Assault (to proc F&R)
What I could have perhaps done better/differently:
1) Definitely room to include Ignore Pain: Ignorance is Bliss here and Cube the belt.
2) Definitely should have been wearing, not cubing Pox Faulds.
3) Death Watch Mantle would have been a better choice for shoulders
4) Gloves could have been better (Mage Fist or St. Archew's Gauge come to mind)
5) Chest was awful, almost anything could be better
6) Focus and Restraint could have had better rolls
7) Helm could have been Andariel's Visage or Leoric's
8) Perhaps Rend was not really necessary since I had the HotA Weapon and Bracer in hindsight. This could free up the belt slot for Cord of the Sherma, Pride of Cassius, or Sash of Knives. Rend is a very strong ability with the IK 6pc set, but it does notably less damage even when double stacked without +Rend Dmg and +Physical damage in support.

Blizzard really made the Wastes set dungeon "fun" by seemingly increasing the mobs attack speed since PTR. It's pretty easy to get hit now.
What an evil objective.

Hi guys,
Here is the absolute best Death's Breath's farming build I've found for T10 across all classes--Static Generator with Sage's and Goldwrap.

Super easy for Barb. REND!
1. Big 2H Weapon (HotA Hammer likely best).
2. Hota Bracers
3. Rend skill
4. Rend Belt
5. A bunch of free damage items like Death Watch Mantle, Flamewalkers, Pox Faulds, etc.
6. Unity and Convention of Elements or Focus + Restraint
Run around and Double Rend density. HotA for single target.
High level gems help a lot. Use skills and gems to fill gaps in gear.
Cube items like Furnace, Leoric's Crown, Unity, etc as needed.
