A lot of people running Blessed Shield are doing so due to how Jekangboard works with Blessed Shield - Shattered Throw, because the bounces apply to each shield that splits off (so potentially can have 18 bounces of shields at 330% weapon damage). Mostly likely something that will be addressed in a future patch, but currently works extremely well in killing things.
I've run a Blade of Prophecy CDR build and it works well, but my Blade of Prophecy was terrible, but I'm still using the same basic build. I also don't have many pieces of Akkan's Set, so I've been hunting down a few more pieces in Torment 2/3.
I now have T2 on easy farm and T3 is doable alone (easy in good groups), but I still find my dps and survivability lacking and I die off bosses and elites sometimes.
I do not have any Akkhan pieces yet and my goal is to keep farming for those and some of the legendaries MannerCookie recommended.
My problem and question is this: I am confused about which weapon and build I should be using to progress:
-Heaven's Fury with FOTF and which shield?
-Blade of Prophecy and which shield?
-Others?
I have FOTF and many other legendary shields in bank, including Jekangboard (with wrath regen and 5 enemies hit), but I am not using them. I don't have Blade of Prophecy yet. Also: does it matter if i have fire damage on FOTF if my skill damage is holy?
What is my problem? Is it just the missing Akkhan's pieces? Is the Heaven's fury build I run viable to keep as I move up? Am I rolling my stats right? Do i have to switch to other builds like the Blessed Shield? I've seen other Crusaders tear up torment with the new Blessed Shield build where they throw it around.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to progress T4+ using a that build, you're going to need Akkhan's Set if you're focusing on CDR and Akarat's Champion/Rally. Fire damage on your weapon only matters if you're speccing into the Holy Cause passive (which only increases your weapon damage if it is holy), your weapon damage gets converted to your skill type otherwise. With the Heaven's Fury build, a crusader shield with Crt/Str/CDR/Heaven's Fury damage on it would be pretty good.
