I have a friend who went to Blizzcon, and the consensus on those who played the Necro seem to think it's close to done.

With art for armor, items, the class itself, plus animations for each skill, rune, and every legendary/set effect that requires a new asset, sure it can take a lot longer than you think. Some of that stuff can happen simultaneously, but that can also lead to a poor result. From concept to completion on a game like D3, I'd be it takes 3-6 months a dedicated time for a few personnel to finish a class with the polish that Blizzard requires. Take into account that the team is small and thus those guys are spending part of there day doing other stuff, it does not surprise me that the Necro will be released so late. It certainly sucks, but it's not surprising at all.
That said, it really looks like at most, they started a month or 2 ago on it in earnest.
I definitely agree it's been relatively recently as an actual project.
The current time frame we've been given seems fishy. I think the best news from Blizzcon is the implication that we may see more classes in class packs. I honestly can't see a reason why they can't turn D3 into the Arpg version of heroes of the storm. A character every 3 months with a zone or 2 every 6 seems very reasonable. I have no issue with paying for a new way to play the game, and it will give the D3 team a constant revenue stream. It's win-win for everyone except for the rose colored glasses crowd who thinks D2 end game was better than D3.

I dont want to pay 15 doller for a , fast and cheap produced necro.

cheap ? probably will cost 20$, i dont think thats cheap for a minor dlc
fast ? they've been working on the necro for quite some time now (production started early this year) and all they have to show for it are like 6 skills, male only model with one armorset, the full pack will come out in second half of 2017, that means necro will bedeveloped over like 1,5 year, thats really not fast and i do understand the amount of work that goes into it, i mean just the voiceovers, male and female in a dozen languages, that takes time and money alone, then you've got the design, the asset production, sound effect and all that stuff, still it shouldnt take them that long to develop a single class on an existing framework, especially if this will be a way forward in terms of generating revenue
They definitely didn't start the Necro early this year. We already know they had a Necro model and some skills from their April Fools joke either this year is last, I can't remember. There is no reason to believe one class takes more than a couple of months to develop, they developed RoS in 2 years, it's unfathomable to believe more than a year of that was for the crusader.
I can believe that people may have worked on the Necro on their own time, but official work definitely only started recently.

posted a message on So, how do you feel?

I've been playing POE for the past couple of months, just came back to D3 for the new season after missing a couple but...

I'm slightly content... the D1 remake does nothing for me, I played D1 when it came out, it's the game that got me into Blizzard. It's the easy choice for a revisit as well, much smaller in scale to D2, which is definitely the most notable game 8 the series.

The only " exciting" news is the Necro, but that not coming out for the foreseeable future is extremely disappointing. The implication of class packs might be good. I could go for a new class every 3 months or so.

The current dev meta of releasing sets for builds is disappointing. All the builds have been done...
