Not saying they stopped making D3, just saying it's going to be different, possably not as good as we were expecting because the origional staff is gone. Besides, thats a bad example. It's not like Henry Ford made all his cars on his own, thats what the factories are for. Diablo needs a good team dedicated to making a great game in the diablo universe. Once again I'll point the finger at patch1.11 and the poor quality of it and even the lack of mention at both Blizzard Conventions - kinda says something don't you think?

Umm, I'm sorry but no...HG:L is not Diablo because the lore is different...

And plus take your sig off, it's a disgrace to GW and D3...
harsh much? last time I checked I didn't see any D3 screens, sorry if I'm hopeful for the game while being realistic, and last time I checked that guy looked a lot like a paladin, GW or not, the sig stays.

I know I'm gonna get flamed like crazy for this, but who cares about lore? Since when did anyone play a game for the storyline!? If you want the lore read the books, but the game pretty much looks like everything diablo was and more. So pardon me if I'm done waiting for Blizz to pull a great Diablo sequel out of their ass, they don't have the necessary staff (they have tons of staff, just not the right people AKA the origional Diablo staff) and they've dropped hints at a new franchise just as much if not more then a Diablo sequel. So as much as I want one too, I'm willing to open my mind up to the possabilitly that the game I've been waiting for isn't going to be defined by a freakin name.

*sigh* a diablo wannabe, they will never rank up to what diablo was. you guys can go spend your money on hellgate, ill wait patiently with tons of other blizzard fans for diablo 3.
... you know the majority of the big wigs behind diablo and diablo 2 left Blizz to make this game right? The only people left from Blizz North that still work for Blizzard are a few concept designers and little dudes.

"Our intent from the beginning was to provide gamers an online experience not just comparable to, but even better than, what they got from Diablo II." Bill Roper - Flagship Studios - Former Blizz North VP and Diablo enthusiast

Now doesn't that sound like someone who actually cares to make a new diablo game?
Don't be a slave to a title man, this is Diablo 3, just in a new skin.

Also, if you want an idea of what you can wait for for the title diablo 3 from Blizz, take a look at patch 1.11 and compare it to patch 1.10, Blizz north disbanded after 1.10 pretty much and 1.11 was done, if you notice, rather poorly without their guidance... the runewords made are BS and no one will ever use them, and they are the only items introduced to the patch other then the torch (I'll mention that shortly). The pandemonium event is cool, but it doesn't bring anything new to the table except the torch - the one good thing in the patch, which if you look closely, is just an anni with a random character class skill and a few minor goodies that, in truth, dont make a difference. (Not bashing the pandemonium event... thats freaking fun as hell! but the bosses should have a little more then like 1 new attack and buffed stats.)
If you look back at patch 1.10, the items were god, uber diablo was brilliantly done (you're fighting shenk in hell and all of a sudden... Diablo walks the earth... POOF, WTF!?!? dead )
Serriously, if you look at how much effort they put into making patch 1.11 and how much effort Blizz North put into 1.10, it says wonders about their devotion to making the game better then it already was.
It also gives you an idea of what to expect for Diablo 3. Do you remember when the rumor went around about the diablo game being done... but not fun? So they crapped it to start again? Probably true I think, and I wonder why... The origeonal minds behind it are gone to better things!
Just my two cents, this is how I see it, agree with me or don't. IMHO Hellgate is Diablo 3 with a new name.

That's a good thing though. There's a good chance it means they can't speak about it and don't want to let any information slip. If they talked about it lots I would be worried.
You can be hopeful, but keep in mind Diablo is only trade marked by blizzard really. It was made by Blizzard NORTH which was a branch of Blizzard but they all left and went to new and better jobs... gee, I wonder why? Basically what I'm saying is, Diablo may be being pushed away and ignored because the people that we're crazy about it are now all gone, not because they are being told to keep info on the down low.

can't be sc:ghost, i thought blizzard made that clear.
Lets stop hoping. I was really hyped, and i was pretty confident in d3 being announced during blizzcon. But, even though its not over yet, i'd rather look at it from a realistic point of view. Thats not gonna happen.

they also said the announcment wasn't going to be a WoW:Exp. But hey, during the announcments guess what? WoW:Wrath of the Lich King. Go figure...:(

"Frank Pierce has just announced the next expansion:
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
    - Level 80 cap
    - Northrend
    - You can kill Arthas
    - New battlegrounds
    - Inscription profession
    - Siege weapons
    - Death Knight Hero class"

http://www.xfire.com/blog/blizzcon2007/ (link is already up in the announcements forum thanks too Cz3si3k)

Does this mean this is the big announcment blizz had everyone waiting for... the one they PROMISED wasn't going to be a WoW:Expansion?

Unique bosses found randomly in the caves to make the random little caves found throughout the game more meaningful. Sure the chests are cool and I've found a few cool items from them, but really, there needs to be a bigger role for exploration.

Also, when I say unique bosses, I don't just mean guys with the name Toe Muncher and Puke Tosser who just look like the same monster with a few abilities and different colours. I mean full blown unique monsters like act bosses (but not act bosses). http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act5-reziarfg.shtml
I mean, cmon, what happened to this guy? Why is he mentioned in the blizz guide and not in the game!? I wanted to fight that sucker and he doesn't even exist!
More guys like this found throughout the game would be perfect.

Oh and more guild action. I want a guild hall of somekind and a way to join a guild with a character instaid of making a new character. None of this make a new character with a the guild prefix in front of the name garbage, I want benefits and guild emblems!

posted a message on Characters/classes we want to see/be in Diablo 3
Before I can say which classes I think should be in D3 we should know what was good and bad about the classes in D2... so lets go over the major points that I think are important concerning the characters in D2.

Everything was pretty diverse... some characters got a little redundant imo though.

-Sorceress was a great class, there is a lot of variety and possably the most diverse class when you think about it. I see more build guides for sorcs then most other classes.

-Paladin was also great. The auras made this class stand out imo. While they had a few skills that involved magic damage, I wish they had something more involved with holy damage or something, I know they have holy bolt and stuff, but I mean really, have you seen any effective builds based on the skills the Paladin has in this area? Something specifically associated with +dmg to demons would have been cool. Other then the auras the Paladin was sort of just a different melee class.

-Barbarian was unique but I notice it's very item dependant. Most other classes can hold their own without items, if need be. The shouts were great though, and I like how the barbarian had masteries and natural resists and such. However I do wish the masteries aspect wasn't specifically associated with barbarians as there are a few classes that could realllly use the same sort of skill distrebution.

-Amazon was very well done but also a little item dependant. I do wish there was more in the spear catagory though, because it would seem that they cover bows and javalins well, while the spears in all of diablo basically are left unnoticed and I think there is a lot more blizz could have done with the weapon.

-Necromancer is one of my favourite classes and extremely well done, just kinda wish they had some kind of skill tree devoted to vampiric sort of spells. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the summoning, cursing or bone/poison tree's, but I think that life steal and spells related to it just go hand in hand with the Necro (I know he has spells in this area, but just not enough)

-Druid got kind of redundant. I love shapeshifting and such, but his elemental spells almost seemed like they were last minute, I like the wind aspect, but the fire aspect is not only useless for the most part, but already covered by the sorceress. Summoning, also pretty useless except for the spirit of the oak and bear.

-Assassin was great, love the shadow disciplin tree. I like the direction blizz went with this class, as apposed to back stab and sneaking around kinda thing, they kinda remade assassins for this game, which is awsome. What I didn't like was the traps area made them casters pretty much, considering the fact that lightning sentry was the most useful one, and the martial arts got kinda pointless after a certaint point because boots didn't do enough damage, however some skills are useful.

Alright, enough critique and back to what this thread is about, what classes should be in D3...

Now that we've figured out the basic pro's and con's of most of the characters we can figure out what works and what doesn't.

There needs to be some kind of caster... lets just call it a Mage for now.
There has to be some kind of fighter... lets say Warrior.
Some kind of alternate warrior like a Knight or something... basically something with a shield sword specific class that would be geared towards holy damage or something (yes I know what you're thinking right now... Paladin, but come on, you need it in a game like this!)
Something like a Necromancer but not necessarily only that... perhaps something more geared towards life steal and summoning something other then skeletons... I like the revives and golems, but the skeles got a little overbearing in D2... something different would be cool.
A Ranger type character so bows aren't neglected.
An Assassin character must be in there! (I love assassins:D)
A Druid, but with completely unique characteristics. Something geared more towards shapeshifting and buffing that aspect.
A Monk type character, who is specifically devoted to hand or martial art type combat. None of this assassin with crazy roundhouse kicks crap.
An anti-caster mabye? Something devoted to curses and sabotage mabye? It's an idea. I mean, resistances are great and all, but when I have a barbarian chasing a sorceress in a dual and I just can't catch em cuz she's teleporting away to fast... it's just no fun.
A combat character devoted to polarms, they just didn't get enough recognition in D2 and I wanted to make a character with a sick sythe!!!:( We'll call this character an executioner I guess.

NO HEALER! For god sakes, this is why I think Diablo is better then WoW. You don't need to wait for someone to join your game who can keep your health high while you go for the big bosses, it's about massive damage fast and survivability. Adding a healer to the game would change the dynamic instantly. Some characters can have healing skills, but they shouldn't be overpowered and there shouldn't be a character devoted to this kind of skill.

So... disregarding the names, D3 should have -
    Warrior,
    Mage,
    Knight,
    Necromancer,
    Ranger,
    Assassin,
    Druid,
    Monk,
    Anti-Caster,
    Executioner

Funny thing is, most of these are covered in D2... I can't think of anything else that a good game in this genre would need! Unless Blizz got realllly creative and made brand new characters with skills we couldn't think of in our wildest dreams I think this would cover a good base for character variety and playability.

Sorry for the huge post, it takes me a lot of thought to come to a good decision... not to mention I think it's better when reasoning is layed out and justified so everyone's on the same page.

    Whew!

P.S. - Props to anyone who read through the entire thing. You've got a lot of patience... :D

I've heard recently that the dual dream glitch for melee/fire sorcs has been fixed and you can't up your aura to lvl 30 using a helm and shield... is this true? It would help me greatly if someone could msg me via pm with a deffinite yes or no because I'm getting mixed responses online.
    Thanks guys.
