posted a message on Knaak Video Interview (Live) - Diablo 3
Awesome interview; thanks. I skipped past most of the WoW stuff to see what he had to say about Diablo. Looks like he knows a lot, but can't say anything. He almost got tripped up by the Diablo 3 character question. I just picked up Kingdom of Shadow recently and it's really good. The funniest part was the bug on the shirt.

Well, i was bored the other day so i played some Diablo 1, and i came across a book called The Realms Beyond, in it it says:

And the other book i encountered was The Wages of Sin are War, it read:

From these i believe since we are still fighting in Sanctuary, we are still fighting the Sin War, since the eternal battle hasn't ended because Tyrael doesn't know what will happen to the world of Sanctuary once he destroys the World Stone.

So the books about the Sin War, as Knaak has said, might have implications in a new game.

    What do you guys think?

Nice find; Yeah I'm hoping this is the direction where things go. It would open up a lot of possibilites for character creation; being either dark or light. I think it would also be cool to see items aligned this way too; like certain items could be aligned with dark and certain with light. I think some of this is already discussed elsewhere in the forums though.

"Probably not for a long time" does not translate to "no new announcements for a very long time".

Just came back to say the same thing. Why in the hell would he say," real soon." We know that blizzard gives out NOTHING until they're ready. This isn't proof of anything.

I thought PlugY and Atma were both for single player only though; or is there a way to access my bnet characters through them?

Are there any muling or storage programs for multiplayer v1.11? Or do I still have to just stick with running into a game and switching characters? I haven't played in a few years and just started up again; I notice people have mule parks now. Do people just sit in these so others can mule?

I voted for Blizzard. No way in hell am I playing Hellgate; especially after finding out you have to pay to even get good loot.
Anyone check out a game called Loki that is being developed? I don't know if it's being released here in the US; but from my understanding these guys are harcore Diablo fans. Here are some screens http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/loki/images.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gsimage&tag=images;img;3 I imagine diablo 3 graphics will be along these lines (hopefully better); although this game is based on different mythology.

Anyone know if they have even said what the Beta-Key is for yet? That expires in Oct so they would have to say something soon.

I'm actually in the same boat as Siaynoq and Carloseus.

I've been doing a lot of personal research on this "spiritual successor" to Diablo, and I've got to say I'm actually quite disappointed.

After watching video after video and screen after screen of gameplay, I've come to realize it's the spiritual successor to Diablo like liquid Nitrogen is the spiritual successor to a clod of dirt.

Sure, it's got swords....aaaaaand...that's about it.

To me, the idea of having both guns AND swords in a game makes me sick. If you're going to go with a dark, gothic style game (like diablo) you have to choose. You can either go for the swords and stick to the hack-and-slash, or go for guns and do what BioShock did: make the guns upgradeable and customizable.

That's why there's D&D and D20 Modern: because old school weapons and magic are one game, guns are another.

Also, I absolutely DREAD the idea of switching between two points-of-view. They could have gone either way and stuck with it. FPS's are called that because...well...they're First Person. RPG's are usually 3rd person, I'm guessing mainly because you like to look at your character, and want to be able to see your immediate surroundings without having to turn around.

That and being able to look at your armor 'cause it's shiny.

And that another thing. What the hell is with the lighting in those "boss area" screen caps? The sky is decidedly red, the area is overly dark...so where the heck is that glimmering white light coming from that is reflecting off of his armor? I guess even when standing in shadows, you can still light up. Reminds me of the original Doom.

Anyway, that's my two cents. I'd just prefer that if they were going to "give the Diablo fans what they want", then they do just that. When I start up a game of Diablo, I don't want to shoot stuff, I want to kill stuff with my Almighty Sword of Badassery.

Agree with you guys on this one. It makes sense (if Blizzard North were the ones working on a Diablo successor at one point) that Blizzard was not satisfied with their work. I was all excited about it at first then saw it an I was just like, "Oh....guns???" Plus I read you have to pay for the "Elite" subscription; which apparently is the only way to get the uber stuff. Bah; Diablo 3 will bury this game when it comes.

The Mike Morhaime interview seemed very promising as well.

Just watched this one as well as the Paul Sams interview before Blizzcon. I think I enjoyed Pauls reaction the best. " Team 3? What's Team 3. " So anyone find out where the other diablos were announced. Been looking into it, but so far have only found dates; not where they were announced at. GC is getting closer and I still hold my bet on that being the announcement.

I just realized something else that puts a little bit more validity to my theory of it being at leipzig. A lot of the sites that blizzard purchased that had to do with diablo iii were european sites, correct?

not in the habit of putting up rumors; so I'll recant my statment about them saying they will announce 3 games in 2007. Either way I still stand by my theory for it being at leipzig. Anyone know where they origionally announced the other Diablo games???? Might give some insight into where they would announce the next one; whenever that might be...

posted a message on Blizzard Establishes "Team 3"
I'm thinking that the announcent will come at the leipzig gc. I have a few reasons behind this: one it's the biggest gaming convention outside of one held in Japan (well over 100,000 attend leipzig gc) and their numbers have grown every year (just check it out on wikipedia). two the "wrath of the lich king" expansion had a label of "gc demo" on it. This made many people mistakenly assume that it would be announced at leipzig games convention. (mentioned at the beginning of this blog here http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/07/31/world-of-warcraft-wrath-of-the-lich-king-expansion-pack-demo-to-be-shown-by-blizzard-in-august.htm )
So my thinking here (no facts behind this, just putting it out there) that this
"gc demo" is actually diablo iii and there was a mix-up or some misinformation tossed in there.
Also, from what I've read on the boards, the beta key is still not active. I guess people were to send in the beta key via email and will be contacted when the beta is done.
I'm not giving up hope on this yet; they said three announcements in 2007 and so far two are down. Plus team 3 still working out there. Also, don't know if anyone cared to look but the blizzard job posts that included "creators of diablo and diablo 2" are no longer there (ie must be filled). Not sure how long the've been gone though. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any news. It was really crappy of Blizzard to not even utter the words "diablo" at blizzcon. They better make it up to us....
