posted a message on scripted fights and carebears?
PvP'ers call PvM'ers carebear because they stick to fighting very easy monsters as their experience, which is fine for them. Others out here in the world enjoy a challenge and well Diablo PvM has never offered that short of making a build that makes absolutely no sense which you would make I suppose if you got bored of running the same monsters 9000000000x. Look at Doom or ID games, they invented TDM...why? Cause playing against humans and killing them is fun. People who play FPS and just play campaign are carebear. People who play softcore and not hardcore are carebear, people who don't duel in hardcore are carebear. In the end everyone is carebear in one way or another so that doesn't matter. Now for people being called scrubs instead of newbs well thats simple too. Newbs is short for newbie, which means you are new. Scrub means you suck, it is pretty simple if you suck you are a scrub, if you are new you are a newb.

And don't worry to much about the words carebear and newb and scrub cause this is Diablo, you are gonna get grieved a lot on battle.net just make sure you thank Jay Wilson for taking away hostility so you have less ability to fight back.

I don't know about you guys, but the only reason that I ever leveled a character on Diablo 2 was so that I could PvP at end game. I don't think anyone had fun just spamming baal runs till 99 and then just stoping... PvP has always been Diablo's real end game.
Bingo. For anyone to make a claim and say PvP wasn't "real" in Diablo series, or that it wasn't "true" just shows how blind they are to the series.
Yes there are people that enjoy killing monsters, they enjoy grinding levels and gear. I have met quite a few on my many years of Diablo. However at least on US East, I found MANY MANY MANY MANY more who grinded gear and levels so they can trade so they can make PvP characters. It is basic gaming formula 101 here, when the content is so played out people find alternate ways to play. PvP is and always has been and always will be a huge part of the Diablo series whether Jay or you PvM heroes wanna accept it or not. I am also not dumb enough to try and say that PvP is end all be all way to play Diablo like most of you PvM heroes who seem threatened by PvP'ers.

What I find the best about this whole beta is how Blizzard now says majority of games are private games and not public. Yet they used the public games to "research" what people do in Diablo 2.

Sorry... but this is an ignorant post.

All diablo 3 calculations are performed on the server. Thus... even private games go through the server. This means that blizzard can pull statistics on practically everything in the beta.
Yea...and? Blizzard is making this co-op friendly Diablo 3 where apparently a VAST majority of people are playing in private games, yet their goal is to have more public games. They virtually removed any player threat in a public game and yet people still choose private games. This points as a fail to me on Blizzards behalf. They shouldn't try to control the community like they often do, so lay off the kool-aid.

posted a message on Is Blizzard getting it wrong with the Diablo III beta test?
    Quote from Don_guillotine

Dunno, I've approached the beta the same way I've done with most of the previous news. Savoring it. I've not watched that many beta streams, because what is to be seen was seen after watching a couple, and watching more would only be boring.

Patience is virtue. But yes, as a marketing tool, the DIII beta hasn't been a big success.

A good choice would be to open the PvP arena up for beta testing, since that'd include more content into the beta.
BLASPHEMY!!!!! They cannot allow PvP in their beta for PvP is not a "real" part of Diablo. It is not one of the fundamentals of gameplay in the series. Oh wait...opening PvP up would be just like looking into the future of Diablo 3 where everyone just levels and gets gear and then PvP's. Or am I looking at the past with Diablo 1 and 2 which did the same?

Anyway, they believe their in house team is the greatest and they don't need us for bugs and only for stressing the server. So in their mind the beta is a success, and there def will not be any nonsense like PvP brought into Jay Wilsons house dammit!

    Quote from Wurder

To stick up for europvp you may or might not know that the players are following strict rules that protect against abuse. MH, invisible hammers/foh, and element absobtion was not allowed to name a few things. Being someone that played in the league I can assure you it was not "newb," but more skill was required due to balancing of classes and matchups. I wont argue that a good player can wipe 7 players easy, but most of the time its a hammerdin abusing charge lag.
Ugh clag, what a joke. Europvp sounds like a more mature dueling scene, so that is very much welcome. I hope that we can establish good mannered dueling in Diablo 3 the same way some communities did in Diablo 2, and hopefully it isn't region locked so I can get a chance to play against Europvp.

Of course there will be private leagues, I am 100% sure we will be holding our own here as well.

On a side note, I am glad someone posted Europvp dueling video so I can get a look at them since I have been told they were better then east, lets just say I am not impressed.

    What did east have?
Well hard to accurately judge, I am not sure what caliber of dueling that video is compared to rest of Europe. All I know is that is mid-tier at best on East. I don't wanna stick up for East really because about 98% of them were garbage too, so lets just say I am not impressed with anyone in Diablo PvP on a whole. Me and my brother went from regularly doing 1v7 matches with legit "top" clans, so seeing a 3v3 that is so poorly orchestrated and such bad movement on players behalf is just underwhelming.

    Quote from soulzek

And what do you propose the design of the banner teleportation be when hostiled? What about quest/event teleportation? What happens if you're being camped at your last checkpoint thus you can never respawn anywhere safely?

Please think about how your suggestion would affect the game before you go shouting it out to the world. "I WANT WORLD PVP CUZ I WANT IT AND ITZ KOOL AND WAS IN D21111!!!"
It would act the same as waypoint system really. Die, return to town and take WP to body NUDE, or Die, return to checkpoint with BODY. If anything the new system allows more room for hostile system, especially with cooldowns on fast moving skills like teleport.
I am not saying hostile should be in every game so all you PvM warriors can calm down. Atleast let us that enjoy the classic feel of Diablo where player interaction is huge get the experience we want too. If you are so greedy and butt hurt cause someone came into your game and wrecked you that you want the game only about you, well you are gonna get grieved one way or another regardless of hostile, now you are just taking your options of fighting back away.

"Fixed an issue that did not properly remove a character’s waypoints and checkpoints when restarting the beta after killing the Skeleton King while on the quest "Reign of the Black King."

So this is just for beta right? The clearing of WP and checkpoints? Does your character level also revert to 1 every new game or what?

posted a message on Co-op spread out
I didn't see a topic about this and honestly I am not sure what to call it.
As you could see in the beta screen shots and the leaked screenshots you select which quest to work on, I am guessing this is for matchmaking purposes. How much restriction are they gonna be putting in the game as far as public games go? If I join a game that is working on den of evil and I really don't care to do den and want to work on Act 2 can I? How is co-op games going to work? Especially with this select quest thing.

It's really funny how people think they will actually make good cash playing D3.
Could make good money in Diablo 2, but that market also wasn't so widely publicized like SFJake has pointed out. Once I have ran the game a million a times and have extra crap, ill sell it and at least make what the game cost me back. The people thinking they can quit their jobs are in for a rude awakening tho haha.

posted a message on How much nostalgia should we expect?
I expect a resurrected Butcher, or a monster to be a spiritual successor to him. In D2 we had the smith who kinda chased you down in the same sense and we had Hephasto who again darted at you in a frenzy. With Leoric back from the meteorite I see no reason why the Butcher won't be coming back.
