A monk... saving Sanctuary... from an army of demons and the Lord of Terror. If you actually think about a monk, does it come off as some old guy in a temple somewhere? When does a monk decide to pick up a staff and destroy the Lord of Terror?

Oh well, c'est la vie. Next time we'll see Tyrael and Budda are working together to seal the Soul Stone.. again.

True, however this should not be the standard going forward when you have games like Call of Duty IV and Oblivion out there. I personally do not have a problem with D3s proposed graphics, however, if the game is to stand up well past the admittedly hardcore fanbase, Blizz may want to think about this anyways.

Hmm, I think D3's graphic looks great in in-game vid. However using same engine with low polygon render in Wizard trailer/cutsense maybe not a smart choice. It make people feel its graphic is bad.

When I played WoW a long time ago, I remember being unable to live without a bunch of mods, which included bag mods. The original interface was pretty horrible, and it was foresight on Blizz's part to allow end users to modify the UI at their leisure.

Most of people need bag mods because they have way too many items to manage. Imagine WoW using same inventory like D2, things will be worse. Anyway, like i said before, Blizz are working on it, this is not the final build.

This is my main sticking point. Automatic distribution follows way too closely the WoW system, however, because that game was so item centric and the class builds were solely focused on gear and skills, that was ok. In reality the AP could have been eliminated and just kept as a background game calculation.

However, one of the fun things we all did in D2 and LoD was funky builds. Melee sorcs and necros, singing babas, etc. The fact that with each created character you HAD to plan out distribution for certain items (like 75 Dex for Wizardspike on a barb/sorc) meant that you created different characters for different skill builds. In essence, you extended replayability by forcing players to make three different barbarians if they wanted to play a WW barb, Frenzy barb, and singing baba.

I think Diablo 3 will focus more on skill than stats. And with Rune skill system, maybe we can create another melee Wizard, or ping-pong Barb ( Barb with Charge skill and Multipliable rune )

Actually, LoD solved the problem with skill synergies, I still remember fondly my Charged Boltress. The Rune skill system is basically a knockoff of the WoW inscription system being released with the WoTLK expansion.

Watch the rune skill system vid and test WoTLK beta, you will know that they're diffirent. And why you dont call WoW incsription system is basically a knockoff of the D3 Rune skill system.

Actually its not. Try re-speccing in Baldur's Gate, Oblivion, Fable, etc. The whole point of RPGs, even action centric ones, is that your choices have consequences. The problem with MMOs like WoW is that it takes months to level a character to 70, and acquire all the gear, to be able to play in PvP competitively. And even after, the PvE game is simply grind. The reason they allow re-speccing in WoW is because it would be ludicrous to expect someone to level 3 or 4 different characters to 70 to test every build. In D2, I could level a character relatively quickly, even several, where Hell Meph runs were easy and routine. And in Hardcore.

From design standpoint, in D2, you only use only one or two skills to fight mobs, even in a boss fight. Everything are simple. You can easily foresee what you are going to do next. In D3, Blizz has a new idea to deal with mobs and boss fight. They want you to use different skills in different situations. Mobs and Bosses have their own way to hurt you. So you dont know what kind of situation you are going to deal next. Think and use another skill is the answer. Respecing help you do that.

And i said before, to undo your mistake.

    1. Poor graphic ? When D2 came out, its graphic was POOR when compare to another game in that gen.

    2. Was WOW inventory totally bad? No, It can store more items and easier to manage. The only thing it lack is image of items is very small. Blizzard already knew this and they're working on it now.

    3. The Automatic distribution may sound lame. But it is not.

Distribution AP is only useful when you need to wear specific items that require specific amount of Str/Dex/Int at specific time. Because in the end, in D2, your char will be able to wear everything made for your class and your char stats will be as same as many other char/class with same build. If D3's items don't require stats to equip, then no need for Distribution AP.

The Automatic distribution AP is a good feature to keep players away from spending all/half their point into HP/MP which judge from D3's design is a bad choice. The reason behind it is similar as potion. Stack potion - not good, stack HP - also not good.

    4. It looks like Wow a lot. But it solved problems about low tier skill was useless in later game. And don't forget the brand new awesome 'Rune skill' system. Truly innovative.

    5. Respecting is a RPG standard now. It allows to create a respecting-build, a build focus on different type of skills in different time. And yes, help you to respect when you accidentally put a wrong skill point.
    .

Btw, maybe you guys have played D1/D2 so so so much for a long long long time, that made you hardly accept new changes.;)

I found it on blizzforums.com, in topic about Starcraft 2. A Blizzforums's memeber names Nazzul has PC Gamer August Issue. He scaned 9 page coverstory about SC2 and also a front page ( a Diablo's fan asked for it).
