I wasnt comparing it so much to The Darkness.

    I did abit didnt I..well.

I meant to provide an example. And I exampled The Darkness Just because he said it was close to his idea of Xavier.

All im trying to say is that this game realistic atmosphere should be accompanied with fun ambitious gameplay.
So it appeals to a bigger audience.

I'm very fond of your idea. I'd like to say a few things, and then ask you a question.

Your aiming for realism, How will this effect gameplay alltogether.

I dont know about this game's gameplay exactly, it seems kind of bland.

How the game is played and its features on what to do is what Sells it. Makes people love it. And makes it fun all together.

    No HUD? No Crosshair?
I know your aiming for realism. But If your going to do this , make sure its easy and fun to operate, and not stressful and annoying.

This if for your FPS mechanic of the game.
You were also talking about Melee combat.

With Xavier's sword etc, this is mixing Complex melee combat with FPS.
How much does the game depend on each of these?
Maybe players will find themselves just running and gunning. Instead of swordfighting etc.
    -------------------------------------
Now for the last thing, and my big question for you.
You said, The Darkness came close to your idea for Xavier.

What exactly makes Xavier's gameplay unique and different. Seeing that the game itself is unique and different.

Take: The Darkness. Jackie is infected with The Darkness in this game. Giving him new powers. And Ultimatley: New Gameplay.

The darker it is, the more powerful Jackie's dark form is. The Darkness can break off from Jackie, going in small places to complete small mini games and puzzles etc. The Darkness is slowly taking him over. So he must find a way to control it "Advancing the Story".

This all blends in with its FPS aspect.

Also will Xavier just start off with all this open ended content and weapons?

Or will you slowly unlock it all, special moves and what not.

Or maybe RPG elements, to advance your character.

So the player can change Michael, and make him into a different class/play style to fit their own.
Like stat points or skills to choose from, to make Michale more effective in one area then the other, this makes replayability.

My question: Will Xavier have something like all of the above, like in most games to make it truley a unique and fun experience.

You have a great idea stealthy.
And I wish that you succeed in your dream, and I'll probly be buyin this one.

I honestly don't think there is even the slightest chance the beta keys will be for Diablo 3. If Diablo is mentioned at all, and I hope it is, it will only be an announcement. They will probably announce the movie as well although I foresee bad things with this movie.

Can anyone name one good game to movie adaption? Just one.

I thought Silent Hill and Resident evil were pretty good.

    Stuff like Doom and TombRaider.

and..we cant forget about Super Mario Bros. in 1993 XD

meh even if the diablo movie sucks we'll still love it.

    ESA, entertainment software association.

    hmm from their site
"The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is the U.S. association exclusively dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of companies that publish video and computer games for video game consoles, personal computers, and the Internet."

They also have alot of research about gaming.
I have no idea why they would censor the domain name tho.

You mean like a total copy of Fable?

    Are you kidding me. Wow.

Umm, yeah too bad fable is always the same direct path but just a different aspect of it.

And too bad fable is a single player game.

I dont know how this would be a copy of fable. I agree with blades.

The good and evil idea is excellent. Since the worldstone is destroyed, Tyrael said that it held the barriers separting the heaven, mortal, and hell realms.
Then stating that thid will change your world forever.

So players could slowly drive down the story and quests, then choosing if they want to fight with the forces of hell or join the arms with heaven.

This would really make the players part of the story. And make the game truley replayable.

And this would create a true "PvP" addition where it could be done right.
Kind of like Alliance and Horde for WoW. Except alot more badass :D

What you guys think of the "rare, unique" quest idea? (maybe even a set-quest, where you only have chance getting a certain quest after you've done a prereq quest for it, and so on)
Its a tottaly new idea but they done it with items, why not quests?
It could really make every time you play the game from the start unique, not only in enviroment/items but also in quests.
(think its possible, not easy though)

This is a pretty interesting idea.

Your right, it would really make the game feel unique from the start.

Diablo II has the same series of quests you do over and over. And it does get dull after awhile. And you usually have someone rush you through it. Diablo does a good job of "randomley" generating its maps and and environments.

Although I'd say it would be rather difficult to pull this off. It is a good idea to truley make the gameplay unique and different everytime. But that is a idea thats very far from reality.

I'd say that Quests become a hassle more than fun in games.

I'm not sure what you mean about "set" quests.

i dont want to be negative but i dont think we'll be made happy this year. And its definitely too early to talk about a Diablo III beta, its not even announced yet.

Whats saying this is holding anything back?

hmm lets see here, Starcraft II was said to be in development Shorty after Frozen Throne was released.

So if they kept quiet that long about Starcraft II, whats the point in believing that we need an announcement?

its possible, but I do have the doubtfulness as you do that we wont see it to be true.

If Diablo 3 is indeed announced at Blizzcon, it's not a coincidence that they are working on SC2 and D3 and battlenet all at the same time. I doubt very much that D3 will be an MMO (although WOD might not be too far away).

    I agree with this 100%.

But I'm not sure what you mean by "World of Diablo(WOD) might not be too far away".

Please, personally I hope that Diablo will never become a p2p MMO.

Diablo is an action RPG, and it should stay that way.
