posted a message on stats switch based on class?

probably been brought up before but wouldn't it be awesome if stats were more universal. In wow you have gear that switches from 1 main stat to another based on your spec.

In d3, i find it kinda annoying that if i main a WD for example its good synergy with my wizard, and the int follower, but that same gear is kinda useless for any str or dex wearers.

Yes i know the game is based on finding gear on the toon you are playing, and yes i am aware you can enchant 1 stat for another, and can even just log on a str toon and re-roll it to str. But this seems a workaround, when all they would have to do is do like wow has it, and when you put on that shield on your templar it turns int into str, and vice versa.

wow and d3 have so many features these days that are borrowed from each other, many argue that it is to much as is, but i think this minor annoyance if fixed would make quality of life for gear that much better.

And yeah again i can go farm another shield if i want str on my crusader, but there are some pretty rare items, so if i happen to get something on my wd, that my crusader needs, and now its int. This is how the game works, and is intended, and it would make the gear grind less, which this game is all about the gear grind.

so some will argue that it shortens farming time which shortens lifespan of game, but the pros is that you dont have to sacrifice mainstat for enchanting it, and not have to farm multiples of the same items

For example, templar needs freeze of deflection, i have 2 of them on my wd, both int, i'd like to use it on my templar, but unless i enchant or re-roll it, which is what currently i have to do. Then i go to my wizard and she uses Templar, so I'd have to do it again...and again.

If the shield simply switched from int to str when i plop it on my templar, problem solved, done. Gear swapping, holding onto multiple copies of items, with different mainstats, taking up precious space will be done.

Even if they just added a simple way to push a button or added a new recipe for cube to 'switch mainstat to mainstat" (int to str) i'd be ok with that, if they feel its trivial to just auto switch it, they could make a way to do it, outside of enchanting/re-rolling the item on another toon.

again its a minor annoyance, but one that i feel strongly about and hope someday they will address it, or come up withing something better.

posted a message on 2.4.1 Datamine Commentary & Release Dates

paragon would be fine if it continued to scale higher, than static values like we have now. For example, why since it was introduced do we only get say 50% crit damage? has never changed. Problem with paragon is that once you max all them out, its just stat stick basically, its boring and you do it cuz you pretty much have to, idk anyone who says i dont want that 5% crit or 50% crit damage I'll just put all into str, and ignore everything else?

But when you have all 4 pages maxed, which really doesn't take that long, even casually, i was able to reach 800 this season and my highest personal grift is 70 ish, with a few classes, those who are doing 80/85+ obviously are leveling way faster but still

Just an update for the paragon system would be ok for now until they can overhaul it, stretch it out some, give us say 100% crit damage, 10% crit, maybe even add attack speed in there somewhere, increase cooldown reduction to 20%...take some of those things we have to stack on our gear so we can focus more on drops and ancients than min/maxing or even gives different options, if i had another 10% of cdr (20% total) in paragon i could switch up gems in helm, i could roll something else on shoulders...free up some of the super stacks of 1 stat a little give some breathing room for customization or other stats that get ignored (area damage, leech, etc)

gold find is worthless as well, i mean not worthless but its always the last thing to max and it just increases gold found by a small %, only people who appreciate it are the ones who build +gold find sets and run vaults bragging about how many billions they have (gold is also a problem in this game...)

keep gold find but add magic find back or something, that would be far far better and use of points than gold find.

how about add some passives in there, 1 point each that say one is "increases the stat contribution of your equipped gems by 10%" or something like that..rather than jacking up a bunch of stats, add kinda a talent/skill passive thing that can choose more different and variety of things

Tldr; overhaul/update the paragon system...its about time!

posted a message on Open Letter against Botting

I have always been divided on this issue, because i see both sides so well, and have been on both sides (legit vs botting). My problem is (and this is 99% of the time the main excuse given) is that dont have the time to play 8 hours a day, or sometimes 4 hours a day, consecutively...botting solves that problem, you just set it and forget it, come back after work and clean out bank, shard, tally up loot, and then go again

Its the ease of the act and how simple it is that draws people in, and once you start it becomes addicting, it starts as a way to solve this time problem, to catch up to your friends you tell yourself, to get all your mats so you can gear your toons..and it snowballs from there, and it very easily becomes a daily routine, and even new toons you level up, the first thing you do is run them through the bot for a night or 2 for gear, its almost like cherry picking and farming specific items and you dont even have to do anything but hit a few buttons and start it up

On the other side of this argument, its wrong and cheating and i fully understand why people/blizzard do not want people to do it, it allows a very unfair advantage, and there's no way legit players can keep up, and these bots and software are so advanced that its super efficient, and they get updates every week, so the line between legit and bot is not really an issue as far as efficiency in farming

I would love them to find a way to ban bots, and proactively ban them, not just in waves would be a good step

And lastly the problem with botting is burn-out...botting is great initially, but once you have botted for awhile you start to get all the best gear, have 1000's of gems, breaths, keys, mats, billions of gold, and then you get to a point where all your gear is ancient on all your toons, you have all side-builds gear, accessories, there's such a slim amount of items (totaling less than 10 for example) that you still/want that now even the bot struggles to give you anything because you have..everything

So it just speedens the time it takes to gear out, max out, and be "done" by quite a bit, what takes months with legit play, when you might play a few hours a day, and not even every day...to 8-10 hour bot runs every day, the gear and mats is exponential, full stash, full ancient sets..and for what? besides ranking up leader boards..there's literally nothing else end game wise to do...so what really is the point in getting to the "end"...and then having it all?

posted a message on Is anyone else really frustrated?
This thread was to just vent a little about recent changes on the PTR and just the whole of ROS in general. It feels like a roller coaster for a lot of classes, and other classes just have smooth sailing (crusader?) What i mean is that while wizards and wd's constantly have been getting buffs and nerfs, lot of the other classes just get buffs and move on, and still as op as they were prior to PTR. (more changes coming, nothing final etc)

Monks are having a lot of changes atm too, and i guess i am just frustrated that blizzard just doesn't get us, the players that play this game. I feel they just only see the game, and its balance, the numbers, and how it will play out, they dont care about individual builds, gameplay, playstyles, they make changes that just dont make a lot of sense, and if you argue about it, people say oh its a change for the greater good or think of the overall effect etc..i get that..i really do

This game is missing a core of what made d2 so good and played for so long, being able to make multiple builds, and if you geared them right and got the right items they could all do well in whatever you wanted to do, you were always trying to find that few key items that made the build shine, then you created another sorcerer and did it again, making a cold sorc, then making a melee sorc? both were awesome fun...in d3 atm neither one of those is anywhere near as good or effective as say fire or some arcane build, ie 2 builds, forget the rest. Would love to build a melee wizard again.

You can argue that yes it was kinda a pain/worthless to level up several of the same class just to change builds, and it was, our system in d3 today is better in most things in regards to that, but it lacks depth, it lacks the experimentation, the variety, its now all about efficiency/optimal for end game, its not how you get there, its about you are there already now what build do you use, pick 2 because that's all they really give you

Most classes only have a few "viable" builds for t6 and GR's, its the same old builds, sometimes they get a tweak here or there, or a set buff, or minor % upgrades...but essentially its always the same builds, its whatever does the most damage, because the game is so focused on health on mobs, they just keep scaling up...but us players have fallen behind...it will get better with leg gems, and hellfire amulet..new legs and affixes...but these are minor bandaids to the overall problem we have NOW, not in 3 months from now...its the CURRENT game i am frustrated about

The thread with ideas on alternatives to just scaling mobs health into the trillions was a great start, give us something to measure/strive for other than more damage, give us 3 or 4 builds even per class, some have more than 2, others dont...there's no balance at all in regards to potential of individual classes, they could fix this easily, and yet they dont, they rather everyone be the same build, and same gear...but why?

Also frustrated that they give us cool new stuff, then they pull it back, and say its not intended, ie depth diggers and wd/wizards recently, that change was amazing and great for my wd, i was aucutally changing builds and having fun again...for about a week...

maybe they will finally start shifting the game around to alternative challenges, and allowing more builds that aren't focused all on dps, and more on sustained damage and survivability, more class synergy in groups, buffs, something that is also lacking atm, monks are buff bots, people created Zdps build just for that purpose...just to have a different build that is useful in t6+

TLDR; what frustrates you atm in current ros, specifcally about class, class balance and builds?
