The only 80+ Im seeing that isn't 100% Invoker based is Slayertrg, but he's using 4pc Akkhan, 2 pc Invoker, and Norvald's with a ton of CDR on the build. In all honesty, I tried a not fully optimized of the barb build posted here and the lack of AoE is what hurts thorns in the long run. 2pc Invoker is what makes thorns damage viable past 60s.
Nice seeing a Hammer build on the upper side of the leader boards.
I finnaly tested the ptr nerf....and i must say its not good.
Before nerf i cleared a gr65 at 12.03, now i wasnt even close to make it..tried it twice and then gave up.
And no i didnt have a perfect rift before nerf..and no i didnt have any good gr´s today either, soo much the same gr´s.
And i hade same setup and same gear ofc.
I think they just nerfed it to much, i would say give back the 50% on set.
ty very much blizz..
Well obviously we're still in a decent spot with both Season and Non-season getting 84 and 82 clears. I did a 67 the other day rather easily and had to back it down to 60 today and it went well. Was a rather crap density and really not a lot of elite packs to write home about and finished with enough time at GR60. Now I have 0 ancients. So being able to do GR60 with no Ancients makes me feel like we're fine.
the only good thing about that chest is that you gain damage and defense in same time, if you go pure damage you will always choose strength.
Strength multiplier scales from all your thorns damage, and thorns you gain from heart of iron are only small part of your overall thorns. Main sources of thorns are your thorns gems, thats why strength will be always better. Heart of iron is worth around 50k thorns damage while your weapon gem is worth 65k and your legendary gem will give you over 100k when leveled. It is very possible that in the end of they day we wont even use heart of iron for cookie cutter build.
There really isn't anything better in the armor slot for Thorns other than Heart of Iron and Aquila Cuirass.
Thorns damage is practically laughable on just about any class other than Sader's sure you can equip it, but doesn't mean it's any good.
My very basic character simulation led me to a barbarian doing hack procs for 4 bil+ at the speed of 5+ attacks per second, i wouldn't call that 'laughable' its just that barb has no way to translate thorns damage into aoe
Now the question I have about this simulation is are these big 3+ billion numbers you are seeing on a barb, crits? Because thorns damage can't crit.
Could barbs use thorns as well or did blizzard design a gem for one class?
Anyone can use the gem, it's just BETTER for Crusader.
In the same way anyone can use Enforcer, but it's best when used for a Pet WD (are these still a thing?)
People laughed at me using int gems on the dh, id assume this gem follows the same strat for non crusaders.
Thorns was killed for a reason, remember the afk diablo kill? A thorns gem only caters to a bad bot script.
Thorns damage is practically laughable on just about any class other than Sader's sure you can equip it, but doesn't mean it's any good.
Still think its a too much nerf imo...i mean comon blizz, are u totaly insane?
Its half the dmg output from 2 sorces were gimped on...thats brutal u num nuts! (blizz)
Still i cant see the nerf is active yet on ptr as i have the normal stats as it was before soo cant really compare the leaderboards as it is now.
Soo blizz..reset the leaderboard when the nerf goes live on ptr plz??pretty plz??
Reduced damage bonus from 50% to 25% (12/1) still 50%
Reduced Thorns bonus from 100% to 50% (12/1) still 100%
They did reset the leader boards already. Hotfixes don't update tooltips and such ingame. Those require a client Update. Hotfixes though can change the numbers. I don't know what the S5 PTR solo GR clear was prior to the hotfix, but as of last night it was 81 and 80 non-season. Prior to the hotfix Quin had a 88 clear NS.
Edit: Just double checked current leader boards. Season on PTR has an GR84 clear and NS is up to 82
I filled it out, but this isn't a random sample. It's probably going to be biased toward males aged 20-30 w/ lower-than-average activity levels, which are all factors that can impact the responses to the types of questions you ask.
If you posted this at different forums/websites/etc then that will help (though not so much if they are all gaming sites)
I'm a 31 year old firefighter who drinks 40+ ounces of coffee a day. I also play in mens lacrosse leagues and snowboard as my forum handle suggests. You'd be surprised who plays video games lol.
If you want an MMO-style game with people to play with then Diablo is not for you. It's basically a single player one-time console playthrough. If you try to treat it otherwise it won't be fun.
A minority opinion on this forum, I should think. Shouldn't you have finished your one-time playthrough and left by now?
I'm more than able to visit a forum about my favorite series to keep up to date on patches to see if there's anything interesting to entice me to come back and play for a bit. I'm not saying the game is bad by any means, but it's most certainly not an MMO.
It isn't a single player game either. I have more fun running with clan mates than solo most of the time.
I'm trying to wrap my head about one of these tips or whatever they're called
You say for new players not to do this
Complete a specific build / gear set
Make the gear or build the means to an end, not the goal itself. If you
don’t, you may not have a reason to play your powerful character
anymore.
But than a few lines later you say this
Complete a farming or joke build
Veteran players may find creating extra characters with specific farming
builds or even a joke build an enjoyable distracting from the main
game. New players however will just get frustrated that they don’t have a
powerful endgame character. Focus on power at first.
So you tell them not complete a certain build or set, but than tell them they need to focus on Power which comes from completing a build and set?
Depends what you are doing. If you are doing GRs in the 35-45 range you will see a lot of Barbs and Wizards. If you are getting into the higher GRs like 50+ you'll start seeing more zdps Saders and WDs. 2.3 Will give Crusaders a speed farm build to help balance most of it out.
I'm looking for a more active community. My current clan all kind of fell off the face of the Earth. My battle tag is Kelrick#1376. I'm paragon 530+ (can't remember where I left off earlier) I play often and at varying times and I play both non-season and season. Though S3 I went HC instead of SC, but in S4 I will probably be going SC.
I'm probably going to be running Fire/Roland's in 2.3 as well I just enjoy the game play too much to change. For me I think this is going to be my grand setup.
Weapon: Either Blood Brother or Furnace Cubed - I currently don't have a ancient of either so which ever I get an ancient first. I'm going to prefer the BB though, because for Xmog sake there are many more 2Hand Sword options than 2hand Axe/Hammer.
Armor: I'm thinking of running Cinder Coat for the 30% reduction on fire skills. I couldn't really find an armor slot that fit that better other than more HP from leorics.
Jewelry: I'm probably going to use Unity in solo play and use either Zodiac or CoE in group play.

They've said time and time again, in 2.3 perma locking will be a thing of the past.
