With all the mods they allow in WoW these days, MapHack seems like gravy. I wouldn't play D2 without it and I hope they take that silliness out of D3 or at least let it remain discovered after you've been through once. My 2 cents.
An auction house is a game mechanic that is needed in any MMO in my opinion. I don't care what game popularized it. I don't want to waste my time trying to actively trade stuff and being cheated or tempted to cheat others. An AH makes a great economy and keeps things organized and under control. I want to play and not deal with bartering. People can still actively trade if they want and use the AH as a buffer for it.
There are way too many polls, stickies, and mirror threads. Search is your friend, otherwise it is just clutter. Looking at the front page now at the time of this reply and there are 12 polls and 7 stickies with two of those stickies also being polls. LF moderators?
Grrr another personal pet peeve of mine is stupid incomplete sentences that continue in the post content (i.e. Subject: I was surprised... Content: that the graphics are so cartoony). The best thing to do about this is just not post in the threads or vote on the nonsense polls and let them be lost. People are hungry for attention so don't feed them. Lastly, don't forget to vote their reputation down as they are adding nothing useful or thought-provoking to the boards.

Players will want some sort of recognition of what clan they are in though. I remember players would have to roll entirely new characters in order to have the clan tag in their name. I agree with not having a big clan name above my head, but there should be tags as in Guild Wars (i.e. Joe Hostile [rawr]). The tag changes when you change clans rather than having to reroll a character.
Just curious as to where the Diablo head in the left hand corner of the site banner went to. It added a lot more to the banner in my opinion and it is a bit bland now. Was there a problem with copyright or something?
This would be a good thing. It was just silly and downright risky with some of the ways you used to have to get items to your other characters. Maybe some form of themed mail system or whatnot.
A lot of time has passed since D2 and I'm confident Blizzard is updating the game and its features in many more ways than just visuals and animation and at the same time keeping it as classic as possible.
He makes a good point. Variety is a good thing and a sunny day outside will just add more darkness and dread to entering a dungeon or the pits of hell.
I would love to see some form of supported organized PvP and rewards are great. Arena support would be a great feature. I left D2 and moved on to Guild Wars as there was PvP support. The ears have got to stay no matter what though in my opinion.
You missed the point. I'm not advocating it be a pay-to-use service. I simply said it wouldn't surprise me if it were. The point was to kick off a discussion concerning what would be some nice features of a redone Battle.net. My apologies though for mentioning that as I know its a touchy topic for most.
