I really appreciate stuff like this, but I don't want to spend 30 minutes watching a video on a single build. Any way you can condense the presentation or put some notes in the forum post?
I go through all the skills and explain them in detail so you can try several variations. I could just as easily make a 60 second video without any voiceovers, and then have everyone ask me nonstop questions about what I'm doing, why, and how. If you don't want to take the time to watch the entire thing over a food break or something, don't, but then you won't get a core understanding of WHY skills work how they do and WHY some are more powerful than others, even if they don't appear to be on paper.

This is a huge problem nowadays with video guides. I think the whole reason people started doing them and watching them is because with editing you could condense the whole message/point of the video into a very reasonable time frame. Since the time of good videos people have went lazymode and used Youtube as a dump site for their stream vods (that's what it looks like to me, at least), and gotten away with very little effort themselves.

This way the video quality is ABSOLUTE garbage to the point of being nearly unwatchable, or at the very least very painful to watch. If you're making videos on Youtube, why the hell would you just talk random bullshit for 30 minutes to an hour instead of actually make a plan for the video, edit it properly and voiceover it? This way a 30 minute video can be condensed into a 5-7 minutes easily.

Every time someone posts a video with a webcam and no editing I *beep* get cancer. Could people once again learn to separate Twitch and Youtube from each other? Youtube =/= Twitch. Stream on Twitch, make proper, enjoyable videos on Youtube. If you don't plan on making videos of any reasonable quality, don't make 'em! That simple. Effort equals success, and being lazy means less views, likes and subs, too.

And as a final note for this entirely deserved rant directed at not just Mikhail, but to all the other million other people doing this as well, I am SO not watching your videos.
See my response above. Don't want to watch it? Don't. No one is forcing you. But there's a reason this is a 30 minute video and if you spent the time watching it instead of ranting about it, you'd understand why. Thank you for your feedback.

How about using this item also? :) would make the hydras even more helpful

Yes, yes it would. Just haven't found one yet. This with ROF (piercing) would be beast mode.

posted a message on Permafreeze Wizard Build - Azurewrath, Frostburns, and Proc Coefficients (Video)
The Permafreeze Wizard is back. While it does require certain pieces of gear and careful spell selection due to proc coefficients, it's entirely possible to take large groups of enemies out of action almost permanently. Sleet Storm will be viable once again at Torment 6.

In this video I explain proc coefficients, how Frostburns and Azurewrath work, good/bad skills to use with these items, and demonstrate skill stacking for maximum freeze potential. In the near future I'll be making videos of how this works against elites and bosses.

This is what Blizzard means by 'build changing legendaries'. Enjoy!

posted a message on Archon/Pull Monk Group COTA Fun With Elites (Video)
Something we recently started doing to break up the monotony of endless COTA runs is altering builds to clear the entire zone, including killing the elites. With a Pull Monk and 3 Archon Wizards, trash melts and elites go down quick as well.

The XP/hour is still good (2 billion+ in an organized group in Torment 6), with the added benefit of regular legendary drops (about 2/hour on average) and fun gameplay because the runs take a bit longer.

This is what I'll most likely be doing between now and RoS release for maximum XP gains and set items to re-roll.

posted a message on 1.6 Billion XP/Hr Archon Wizard Solo - COTA Run - Part 3 (Video)
This will probably be my last solo COTA video before RoS. After a few suggestions from you guys, I crafted up a rare helm and switched to an Archon build for higher xp/hour. I clocked in at 1.65 billion. With a bit more damage and more focused play, I still think 2b is possible solo, but I'm not going to bore you with min/maxing. If I do another COTA video, it'll be aiming to break the 3 billion mark in group play.

posted a message on Common Debris Farming - 1000/Hr (Video)
Common Debris is currently the bottleneck in crafting Archon rares. For another week or so, you can buy plenty of Exquisite Essences and Iridescent Tears from the Auction House, but these you have to farm.

In this video I use a 60-80% move speed Monk Tempest Rush/Dashing Strike build to quickly farm 1000+ Common Debris per hour. No expensive or BoA gear is necessary and because it's done on Normal difficulty, anyone can do it. As long as you have some gold to supplement crafting costs, you shouldn't be at a loss for mats after 1-2 hours of these runs ever again.

posted a message on 2.7 Billion XP/Hr Group COTA Runs (Video)
Continuing the quest to maximize xp/hour, today we managed to hit 2.7 billion in a relatively organized COTA group. This isn't an attempt at a world record by any means (at the time of upload I believe the record is around 4.6 billion), but rather a consistent increase in xp/hour farming. It includes Pools of Reflection stacks, but they spawn consistently so if you're playing at an appropriate difficulty level, you shouldn't be dying. No Hellfire or Ruby gem in this video.

COTA runs are fun, quick (if you don't have much time), and a good change of pace from normal gameplay. There are some issues you may run into - such as people getting booted from the party after the run - but that's the price you pay for quick Paragon leveling.

Next milestone is 3 billion/hour on a longer run. Stay tuned!

PS. 1.6 Million DPS at the 4:20 mark.

posted a message on Why Legendary Items Are (Mostly) Useless Before RoS (Video)
    Quote from Venaliter

As some of you know, this is a favorite topic of mine. Legendaries in RoS were advertised as build changers. While maybe a third of them are; I can't help but feel mislead. I dont expect all legendaries to be the absolute best legendaries , but I naively expected them to keep thier word on this. Most legendaries are simply rares that drop less that are little better then rares, or significantly worse. As Wizard, obvious legendary powers like "blizzard can now stack twice" or "spectral blade has increased range" or "shock pulse now casts directly on the target" were missed. It feels, and probably was, half assed.I dont blame the people who feel down.
This is kind of where I'm at as well. Partially it's the incompleteness of the game at 60 (clever way to "force" RoS sales), but the other part is that it's still raining legendaries. Why? I thought we weren't supposed to get so many? I'd much rather have 5 or so items that I could use, vs. 30 which are all trash. It's a tough balancing act though, because it would upset a lot of people who don't play much. At the same time, with the 'pity legendary' change added to the game everyone is going to get something eventually.

Most likely Blizzard is doing this so we get more forgotten souls to reroll. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

That assumes that acquiring legendaries is done in place of grinding exp. But you will likely fnd legendaries in the course of grinding exp, and in some cases they will be better than rares (especially if you are a new character or transitioning from Master to Torment+). So calling legendaries "useless" is something that doesn't hold that much meaning. There are too many threads about the relative quality/dro rates of items which are, by design, the most random things in this game.

I must be missing some connection here or something.
I understand what you're saying. The tab of legendaries I found was through grinding XP, but some areas seem to drop more legendaries (Core of Arreat for example) than others, although it hasn't been 100% proven, yet people farm specific areas which may have higher drop rates or more elites or whatever it is in hopes of legendaries, at the expense of XP/hour.

Also remembered that you need a Forgotten Soul to reroll, so assuming your lvl70 legendary sucks and you salvage it, then and only then can you reroll. But by then the item you find will probably be better or you'll find a superior rare in most cases.

That depends on how far along in the game you are.

If you had loads of awesome gear and almost maxed all your paragons pre-patch, then sure, they might be crap. But for those of us who didn't get to that point, they are still awesome. All except one legendary I've found so far, has been an upgrade for me. In some cases even a huge upgrade. And they will continue to be awesome until day 1 of RoS. Why? Because until I ding 61 in the new areas, they are far from useless. They are worth the time and effort I spent getting them. But when I ding 61 I will be finding even better gear. And then they will be replaced. Then they will be (mostly) useless. Only then, not now...
To an extent, yes. However, in the video I showed the rares I crafted. Crafted rares are currently better than most legendaries unless you get real lucky and the legendaries roll high. Statistically speaking it's cheaper and quicker to craft Archon rares for shoulders, chest, gloves, maybe even 6 prop helm/boots/belt, get rare rings with primary/vit/CC, craft ammy, and use a legacy lifesteal weapon.

This morning I found one upgrade to my LS weapon - 3% damage and 2% toughness boost ... but no LS. So I'm still sticking to the 'ez mode' weapon until RoS. Why make the game harder for yourself?

posted a message on Why Legendary Items Are (Mostly) Useless Before RoS (Video)
After farming up an entire tab of legendaries, I came to the conclusion that almost all of them are useless before RoS. 2 out of 3 CC/CD/AS legendary rings and amulets, socketed 1 hand weapons, and set items are ok. But that's about it. Unfortunately, the game is incomplete at level 60 due to the lack of Enchanting, so most items will be trashed as only a single property can be re-rolled.

In this video I briefly go through the items I found and explain why they're mostly useless, why legacy gear along with crafted Archon rares is the best option until RoS, and why there's really nothing to do but grind XP.

posted a message on 2 Billion XP/Hr Group Act 1 Farming (Video)
Quick demonstration of what an organized group Act 1 Cathedral 4 clear looks like and what kind of xp you can expect. We're all overgeared for A1, but not quite geared enough to handle A3 Keep Depths 2 fast. We can run it with minimal deaths now and trash melts, but elites take too long and the xp/hour suffers as a result.

A1 is also significantly safer due to the types of monsters you encounter. Organized group COTA farming will yield even more xp, but very few people will have the desire or the patience to optimize a run like that.

posted a message on 1.3 Billion XP/Hr Frost Wizard Solo - COTA Run - Part 2 (Video)
The hunt for 1.5B XP/Hr continues, slowly but surely. In this part I changed out a couple gear pieces and ended at 1.3B/Hr. If you watch all the runs, you'll notice that at the 20 minute mark I'm at 1.1B, but at the 30 minute mark I get up to 1.3B. So, (data) size matters. I may record a full 1 hour run at some point if I don't die of boredom, but it's safe to say that 1.3 is achievable with my gear and build.

I have a few other areas I want to try with slightly longer runs to complement or even replace COTA, but for now it reigns supreme.

posted a message on 1.2 Billion XP/Hr Frost Wizard Solo - COTA Run - Part 1 (Video)
After seeing all the hype surrounding Crypt of the Ancients (COTA) runs, I decided to give it a go on my frost wizard. COTA is nice because it's consistent mob density with little travel time, only 1 elite, and frequent Pools of Reflection spawns. Currently, it's the ideal run for maximizing XP/hour.

In this video I end up at 1.2 billion xp/hr extrapolated, but some of the runs weren't that great and I believe a larger sample size to average it out is necessary. I think 1.5 billion/hour is achievable with my gear level, so that'll be the next benchmark. Stay tuned.

Yup, I fell in love with this feature as soon as I found it. It's great if you want to pick up certain rares (I pick up rings and amulets) without having to pick up everything and sorting through it later.
