posted a message on The "help me" thread - Post here your build/gear questions.
So I've done pretty well with my gear progression, even with fairly bad luck with drops, but I'm hitting a bit of a wall trying to move into T5. It's doable, but it's slow and all it takes is a mob with the right affixes to drop my health to zero really quickly.

Some stuff I've accumulated, including paragon points: http://imgur.com/a/dIJWr

I'm currently able to run T4 decently, although I usually drop it to T3 for efficiency, and more often than not I'm running solo. The Demon Machine and Balefire Caster are pretty much sitting until 2.1 drops so I can drop a socket on them without having to roll for one. I've been trying to get a Kridershot since RoS was released, but so far, no such luck. I know they're not always the best, but I really like EA, and would really like to drop it into a skill slot.

I've been trying to get everything just right for a while now, but I figure that it's about time to get some outside opinions. Thanks in advance.

It really depends on what kind of play style you're looking for. Are you aiming for initial satisfaction or are you willing to put in the time for the late game?

I recently started leveling a Witch Doctor with a couple of friends, and I've been bored since about level seven. I know there are a lot of people that will disagree with me, but I feel that the early game WD is one of the most boring stretches. On the upside, WD is probably one of the more over powered late game classes with all of the variety they have with the sets and legendaries that basically put an indestructible army in front of you.

On the other hand, there's the Demon Hunter. The early game is full of diversity and allows you to dodge in and out of combat with their emphasis on mobility, however, a lot of their generators are lack-luster and require some synergy between the passives to maximize their output, especially on the 55-70 stretch. DHs can be a decent solo class, however, pushing into the higher difficulties starts to limit their build options.

From what I've seen, and partially from experience, WDs are going to be the better solo class at any point in the game due to their emphasis on pets. If you enjoy a much more "micromanaged" experience, then you're going to feel better about the DH, due to dual resource bars and needing to balance a lot of survival stats and DPS stats. Just my two cents though. Hope it helps.

TL;DR: Punishment is not mandatory and focusing only on Hatred undermines the core mechanics of the Demon Hunter. Moving on.

I play a DH as my primary and I've managed to make it into T4 without using Preparation Punishment or Sentries. I play mostly solo so I run Battle Scars instead, and even though I have the pieces for the 6-Piece Marauder's bonus, I have yet to even use all of them since I'm not really a fan of Sentries.

Saying that Punishment is mandatory is untrue. I feel that Blizzard has done a great job of mitigating resource management, for example, Reaper's Wraps or passives such as Blood Vengeance. Using both almost tops off Hatred with one or two health globes, and works great until you've stacked either enough Hatred Regen (Vengeance Seethe is great for this) or Resource Cost Reduction. RCR is also an amazing attribute to stack to drop the cost of those heavy spenders, such as Cluster Arrow or Multishot.

If you're playing pure DPS and throwing survivability aside, sure, the change to Punishment is going to slow down your build (but could probably be mitigated pretty well with CDR which is also amazing). If built well, Punishment is not necessary and just takes up a skill slot that could be used for something else.

Blizzard built a class based around Balance, and this change to Preparation Punishment is basically them reminding everyone of that fact. Dumping Discipline for just Hatred basically cuts off the other half of a class that offers a lot of utility. I think its fair to say that Demon Hunters aren't an easy class to play, and they shouldn't be. Learning to balance the two resource pools simultaneously and efficiently, I feel, is the core mechanic of the Demon Hunter.

Long time lurker, infrequent poster here, so Mods, if this is the wrong sub-forum for this, please let me know/lock/move this thread please.

Anyways. I've been getting some encouragement to start up a channel/stream (would focus on D3), but I have zero experience in the area of either, so I figured perhaps I'd start a thread where there are people experienced in this field. Anything from how to get started to what kind of editing software would be best (if necessary). On the hardware side of things, my machine should have plenty of horsepower/storage for recording and editing content. I think my primary bottleneck is going to be my upload speed (an abysmal .75mb upload...), which I'm not even sure would be good enough to stream on (can anyone confirm or deny?), and would make uploading large files a lengthy but doable process.

Anyways, thanks for looking. I know I don't really have any reputation to make posting worth your time, but any help is appreciated.

posted a message on US - lfg Paragon Leveling/Crypt Running
Hey Everyone,I'm currently attempting to get my Demon Hunter to P100 before the Expansion releases, but I've hit the wall where primarily playing solo just doesn't cut it. I know that currently Crypt Runs are pretty much the way to go, so I'm looking primarily for a Crypt Running group. If you've got room for one more, or just want to jump in for a run or two, go ahead and shoot me an invite. My tag is FelixRussia#1918, here's a link to my profile: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/FelixRussia-1918/hero/4205246

    Thanks for looking!

posted a message on looking for group paragon leveling
I'm in the same boat with the Paragon leveling (hoping to hit P100 before the Expansion releases). I'd be willing to do some runs, been looking to start running some crypts (or whatever ends up being the best XP route this week :P) with a party. I'm also usually on in the evenings, sometimes during the day as well depending on how my schedule looks. I pretty much play my Demon Hunter exclusively right now, but if you're interested, here's a link to my profile: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/FelixRussia-1918/hero/4205246
